763 teams (including Villa ) set out on the road to Wembley this season.
With todays 1st round proper draw, by my calculations we are already down to the last 131 with 7 4th round qualifiers still to be decided.
The nearest thing to how football used to be.
Arlesley Town or East Thurrock United away in Round 3 will do me.

My mate follows Nantwich Town and is gutted with their draw away to MK Dons. He was optimistic they could get to the third round. I'd love us to get somebody from outside the football league away from home in the third round. Even though we'd probably draw 0-0.
-
Come on Hinckley ;)
-
The Glassboys for a shock win at Plymouth.
-
Come on Hinckley ;)
Calling Mr Cooper.
-
What if we nabbed it, how incredible would that be!
-
The absolute best thing about the FA Cup is that this is without a doubt our year.
-
Come on Hinckley ;)
Calling Mr Cooper.
got to beat Darlington first :)
-
Blackburn Rovers please, followed by Wigan Athletic.
-
On a more serious note, Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough Stadium.
-
I reckon we will get Blackburn at home in round 3 and win. There will be a team who win their 3rd round match and get kicked out and a lucky loser will be reinstated meaning we will also get Blackburn at home in round 4 which we will also win. Then we'll get Man City away.

Indeed. I have the distinct impression that we have exhausted ways of going out of the Cup to Man United and Man City will take there place. I can think of three FA Cup exits to Cit£h in the last 20 years it would only be right that we topped that up to the same level as United over the next decade. <sighs wearily>
-
FC Halifax Town v Charlton Athletic is a good 'un.
-
At last something we can still win this season..............until Jan 7 that is.
-
Bristol Rovers away in Round 3, followed by Cheltenham Town in Round 4 and Bristol City in Round 5
-
I like the FA Cup at this stage. No forgone conclusions, upsets and the fact the fans are up for it. Then, of course, the big boys - and the Villa - come along and spoil it.
-
I've just been a sad anorak and done some analysis of our last 54 years of misery.
1 disastrous Final.
4 semi-finals and 6 quarter finals exits
19 3rd round exits (just over a third)
2 1st round exits (3-1 at Torquay!...Torquay!!)
We've lost to the eventual winners on 14 occasions in that period and the runners up 4 times.
Surprise surprise Man United have knocked us out the most, 6 times, followed by Liverpool 5 and Spurs 4.
It really does make for depressing reading. Time to get "Abide with me" going on the iPod to cheer me up.
-
If Gloucester City get passed Chelmsford it's Telford at home faintly disappointed with the draw. Pity we didn't get to play the team drawn out before us rather than after.
-
Remember when we played Gravesend and Northfleet?
-
Remember when we played Gravesend and Northfleet?
Yes they knocked Glos City out a few rounds before.
-
Cheltenham Town away please.
-
Coventry City away please.
-
I've just been looking at a Plymouth forum and they're getting really upset about a handful of Stour supporters saying they might have a chance.

My word you do need another hobby.

That's really funny. My second team are about to play the biggest away game in their history; do you not think I should be interested in the opposition?
-
A Plymouth based Stourbridge born relative of mine can't wait for this match.

I assume from that comment that i'm supposed to know who your second team is? I hadn't got a clue obviously.
-
I don't think you have to have the IQ of Stephen Hawking to work it out mate.

My mind has been slowed this evening by multiple drinks, I now see what you mean having re-read the comments. My mistake, apologies.
-
Coventry City away please.
Seconded
-
Come on Hinckley ;)
Calling Mr Cooper.
What?
Oh right, yes, a very uninspiring draw for Tamuff, away either in Scotland or against a team we used to play all the time until we became a big club!
-
Mmmm, FA Cup. Get drawn away to Manure, get demolished, spend rest of the season where our only ambition is hoping we don't get relegated.
I jest. I think.
-
Tranmere Rovers please
-
Tranmere Rovers please
Bollocks. That would see Cheltenham out. Stourbridge at home please.
-
Colchester please. A friend of mine works for them and we've only ever played them in the league cup, in the 70s.
-
6 of those 7 4th qualifying round replays have now been decided.
By my reckoning there are now just 125 teams left out of the 763 who entered and one of them is the Villa !
I am really starting to think this time it is going to be our year !
-
I think so too. UTV!
-
If we could guarantee that we will win the FA Cup this season, who would you choose to beat in the final?
-
If we could guarantee that would win the the FA Cup this season, who would you choose to beat in the final?
Newcastle.
I know its a bit sadistic because they havent won an FA Cup or any trophy at all in over 40 years so it would hurt them so much to come so close and miss out. Imagine all those crying Geordies at the end. Imagine Alan Shearer on the TV. (The BBC are just about hanging onto coverage of the final I think ?) We could dedicate the win to Harry Hampton to rub salt in the wound.
-

Spurzz, newcastle, manure, citeh. It'd be funny to do it over blose, but i don't want them getting passed 3rd round. Same goes for stripey-filth
-
TRS-T: The Geordies...Yes. So sympathetic to everybody else nationwide...aaahhhh, and I totally appreciate that scenario.
However- given that it's a guaranteed win...heh heh heh...
I really want to beat Stourbridge in the Final! 15 - 1.
if I can't have that I'd like 17-1 against Man City.
-

Has there ever been a Second City derby at Wembley?
If that did happen at least we would be stealing the media spotlight from Manchester ;)
-
Wolves in the final just to see those Wolves fan's tears at work :)
-
I can't stand the FA CUP semi finals being played at Wembley. Fucking shite.
-
I can't stand the FA CUP semi finals being played at Wembley. Fucking shite.
An opinion no doubt shared by fans of all teams outside London. Except Londoner Man Utd and Liverpool fans, of course, who no doubt consider the FA to be a considerate and noble organisation for responding to their needs, which, of course, are of greater importance than anyone else's.
-

Sorry - I have no idea what that means.
An excess of Pinot grigio contributed.
I'm still finding other posts. God.

Another one for the Glassboys at home!
Maybe a 1,000 going to Plymouth...
-
Twenty quid on a coach that goes at half eight and is dry there and back? No thanks.
-
The 2nd round draw has been made. Many of these clubs are starting to dream of getting through one more game and getting a glamour tie at Villa Park.
Salisbury City v Port Vale/Grimsby Town
Plymouth Argyle/Stourbridge v Stevenage
Sheffield Utd v Torquay Utd
Colchester Utd v Swindon Town
Chelmsford City v Macclesfield Town
Leyton Orient v AFC Bournemouth/Gillingham
Crawley Town v Redbridge/Oxford City
Luton Town v Cheltenham Town
Fleetwood Town v Yeovil Town
Brentford v Cambridge Utd/Wrexham
Bradford City v AFC Wimbledon/Scunthorpe
Shrewsbury Town v Rotherham Utd
Dagenham & Redbridge/Bath City v Exeter City/Walsall
Barnet v MK Dons
Gateshead v Hinckley Utd/Tamworth
Morecambe/Sheffield Wednesday v Maidenhead Utd/Aldershot Town

-
Salisbury City or AFC Totton away will do nicely thank you.
-
Fucking GoatsHeed away, how shite is that?
-
On a more serious note, Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough Stadium.
Scratch that, then. Sutton United or Walsall, please.

Do they still play at the athletics stadium?
-
Fucking GoatsHeed away, how shite is that?
But that could lead to playing Villa at the Lamb in the third round.
-
Another crap draw for cheltenham, I went to luton about 3 years ago and its seriously shit, unreserved seating. One place to get pies and its only the one bloke serving. You have to go through someones house to get a ticket and through someones garden to get into the ground.
And knowing cheltenham they'll get beat too

I heard that at Luton if you're sat at the back of the tiny away end you can only see the ball when it's below head height too!
I've never been but it sounds like an absolute shithole!

I bet we get Man United this year. It's been a while.
-
I think we'll start getting Man City every year now.

It's an inevitable by product of the growth of the English game.

It is, you also walk through a few people's back gardens to get in the away end.

Shrewsbury town home or away will do nicely

It's all in the name.
(Err, no I didn't, actually...)
-
I fcuking hate having to use IE at work. Compatibility View is a pain in the arse.
-
Forza Glassboys.

Forza Glassboys.
Quite
I may pop down for the replay. I grew up with Fordy the Assistant manager and played in the same school football team, they're doing a good job down there
-
There are a lot of people wanting to go to the game. Let's hope they chuck a temporary stand up again.

-
What do you reckon the attendance with be cheltenham?
-
The capacity could be as low as 1,500, with the Shed in particular being a lot lower than the Walsall game. The big problem is the lack of suitable lighting around the exits
-
It's live on ESPN now.
-
It's live on ESPN now.
And it now clashes with the Villa v Ajax Youth game. Boo.

Are you going Dave? And if the tickets are a no do you fancy watching in the labour?
-
Capacity 2,725 including temporary stands. Tickets on general sale Sunday, £15.
-
Stupidly early kick-off time of 7.15. Anyone know if The Holte Pub or The Aston Social have ESPN, then I might be able to catch the end of it after the Villa game?
-
I will try to find a mug to queue for me on Sunday then!
