Title: Utter Crap Spouted By Tony Cascarino Possibly 1 % Villa.
Post by: gervilla on September 09, 2011, 09:23:56 PM
I was doing a bit of work at my Mams house earlier ( Scraping paint off the bathroom wall to be precise ) and had the Irish radio station "Today FM" on.
Lawro and Cascarino were on previewing the weekends games and I swear I heard the following statement from our former "Goal Machine" while discussing the Stoke v L''The Mighty Reds YNWA' game.................. "Cameron Jerome is a top class player and is capable of playing at a higher level than he did at Birmingham".
Top class compared to you maybe Tony, but thanks for giving me my biggest laugh of the day.
They never did mention our game tomorrow, maybe the ran out of time or something......its not just  Sky.

His finishing seems to be pretty poor.

But tbf, I always used to worry when he got the ball against.

He was Blues' biggest threat and he had pace and strength.

He's absolute garbage.

I was more worried about zombie dinosaurs than Cameron Jerome.

Casacarino,possibly our worst signing ever?

He actually scored for us though, and we got our money back. Balaban methinks.

He's Blues' best striker. Or was, anyway.

Not saying much though.

Cascarino though, worst pundit around.

If by "enlightened !" you actually mean "Thick as Shit ", then yes, I think you have hit the nail on the head.

I remember a very dark time in history where Cascarino was employed to give such opinions every day as a "presenter" on TalkShite.  Anyone else remember that absolute arse Patrick Kinghorn he used to do a show with?  Whatever happened to him?  If he wasn't drowned in a canal then a good sack was wasted.  He was as good at broadcasting as I am at breast-feeding, yet Cascarino made him look like a Dimbleby.  Good old Tone also set a very low bar for that ongoing TalkShite practice of making an illiterate ex-footballer read a competition question off a bit of card.  A sorry charade; they say radio paints pictures, well you can practically see a lovely watercolour of Mick Quinn following the words with his chubby finger. Cascarino is thicker than the last bit of Warburton's Toastie.  He probably thinks if something's orange it must be a carrot, so his opinion is of no value whatsoever.

Is he still pronouncing Birmingham Berminum?

That -despite living in the city-  and tipping Wigan to make the CL under Steve Bruce means I won't be taking anything he says seriously for a while.

Kinghorn and Cascarino had a fight during a show, it was off air during the break. When the break ended they carried on as normal and resumed the fight once the next break came along.

As far as pundits are concerned, pig ignorance appears to be an essential part of the job these days. See Reknapp,J.

Compared to cascarino even Simon stainrod was top class- cascarino is even shitter as a pundit than as a player and that takes some doing.

Fair comment Ger but it is just the meeja and not worth getting streaks in your paint over. If they said he was rubbish there would be a justified complaint about damaging a player's career.
Cascarino came to the Villa at the wrong time for me and although like nearly everyone else-didn't rate him with our great centre forwards, never thought he was to blame for our poor run.

Exactly what Eastie said!! I remember him missing a sitter against Man Utd?( not sure) and the Holte End singing "What a waste of money"!!

We might have won the league that year if we hadn't have bought him!

Jerome is the striking equivalent of NRC. Strong and fit and will run all day just let's himself down when he has to touch the ball.

His autobiography is surprisingly good, and very honest about his limitations as a player.

And there were lots of them, what with him being rubbish.

I think we should just pause for applause for a moment here. Two absolutely inspired put-downers. I'm impressed, Mr QJM.

Tony Cascarino was signed by Sir Graham, pity he ddnt go for the other Milwall
player on offer at the time  TEDDY SHERINGHAM. Cascarino was at the time known as [Skud]after the missile it was known to be very expensive and seldom
hit the target.I remember being in Milan when we played Inter, under Jo Vengloss, I was staying in the Grand Hotel, as were the players WAGS, shall we say Mrs cascarino wasno different to her man

Casacarino,possibly our worst signing ever?

He actually scored for us though, and we got our money back. Balaban methinks.

He scored twice for us in the run-in for the title - but he also scored an own goal, and scored for Millwall against us in the same season.

Had we bought Sheringham instead of Cascarino, we'd have won the title, I'm almost certain.

Balaban didn't do anything as bad as cost us a title shot.

Tony Cascarino: "I can't think of a worse team to play for as a striker than current #avfc side."

And we can't think of a worse striker who ever played for the AVFC team.

He's a wanker but he's not a 100% wrong. It's been tough being a forward of Aston Villa in the last few months. I imagine if we can get Sinclair and Gil really firing now and keep 11 men on the pitch in games it will help create more chances. What is missed in the article is that the forwards are not held accountable as not all of the blame should be placed on the midfield. Sometimes our strikers are like statues instead of moving into space and creating opportunities for themselves.

Spinksy, rolls the ball to Platty on to Paul McGrath and out to Tony Daley, Tony Daley down the wing like a torpedo, he puts the ball up in the airrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, for Tony Cascarino (to promptly fuck up the great flowing move)

yes, and if I didn't know any better for all of Cascarino's shitness as a Villa player it was the midfield's fault too

The first time I remember that being sung was on a ferry to the Inter game in 1990. By the time we were on the return journey 'down the wing like a torpedo' had turned into 'like a slow boat to China' and 'puts the ball in the net' had changed to 'puts the ball in the stand'.
