I can't see us getting much here if we line up how we did against Wolves, which we probably will. Everton are a good team.
Ah who knows. 1-1.
Result: 0-2.
Team: Whoever we've got left, as long as there are eleven of them.
they're not playing very well by all accounts, . 0-0.
This is a game we'd typically lose, and I think we will. 1-0 to Everton from a corner.
I'm thinking a 0-0 draw.
I reserve the right to change my guess if we make a couple of exciting signings.

I've gone for a draw, but if we do score first it won't be a nice place to be for Everton's players, manager or board, so we might get the win.
Everton 0 Villa 3 (Bent 23, Hutton 63,Messi 86Jenas 86)
Everton 0 Villa 3 (Bent 23, Hutton 63,Messi 86Jenas 86)
Corrected my pre-deadline day prediction.
What will Everton's attacking options be against us?An Evertonian I know says it'll be Cahill with Fellaini supporting.
Saha who's made of glass, Anchiebe and that south american striker they got on loan. Have I missed anyone out?
Would rest Petrov after 2 internationals. Would bring in Jenas for him. I reckon Herd will start but it could be a mistake. Otherwise unchanged.
I think this may be the third instalment of McLeish's attempt to break the goalless draw record. 0-0.
On the basis that Hutton hasn't had a competitive game since last March, and Herd was man of the match last weekend, I'd keep Herd at right back. Jenas also won't be match fit. There's no need to rush them into an unbeaten team.

He didn't do himself any favours so by beating Blackburn, the idiot ;)
Only because the pressure that Moyes is under and only because the team is under the same kind of pressure and the fans are making demands I have to go for a home win, also I would say that at some point the fairly positive start that McLiesh has made will at some point get tested, for me that will be Everton....I actually think it will be the opposite of that and if we keep it 0-0 up until 60 minutes then there already restless fans will get on the teams back, they'll become nervous and we'll nick it around the 75 mark.
Hope we win, can't see it.
Please not another draw, lets at least show we aren't a born again B'ham City and let's at least go for it even at the risk of losing.

Well I think we will nick this one. They are on a bigger downer than us at the moment. The new Fabregas is a huge loss for them. If we just manage to mark Tim Cahill from corners we should be O.K.
I'll go for Everton 1 Villa 2. ( Bent 46,88)
They absolutely hammered us her last year and we won 1 nil courtesy of Luke I think.
Hopefully we can play better but get the same result.

He played tonight and will again on Wednesday for Scotland.
Mcleish does not seem the type of manager where youth get a chance in my opinion.

Everton 0 Villa 2. NZogbia and Jenas to finish the scoring from the bench. Our best chance to beat the toffees for quite e few seasons.
I can see this being a turgid, dire trawl. Culminating witha n equally uninspiring 0-0. Hope I'm wrong, mind.
Bit worried about Bent's injury. Not confident anyway, but without him, where would the goals come from.

I remember going to one up there just like that, here's hoping for the same outcome....
With Bent and Given fit a Villa win. Without those two I'm not so sure!

I'm not overly concerned by the prospect of Gabby leading the line.

With the way we have been playing Gabby would probably be more effective than Bent.

6 months ago, everyone was in a shocking mood and very quick to get on Gabby's back after one injury-riddled season of poor form...With Bent and Given fit a Villa win. Without those two I'm not so sure!

The club and team I'd say were closest to ourselves in terms of recent years performance on the pitch and style of play. A close game with the outcome being a draw.
Well hopefully Barry Bannan receiving his Man of the match champagne tonight for Scotland might make Mcleish realise he is worth a chance.

Ditto Dunne and now Bannan....yet more good news
I wonder if bannan can manage a game on Saturday after tonights efforts? I think I've read he tires easily.Even if he does tire, which I doubt he will tbh.. we've got cover for him on the bench. I wonder how Ireland must be feeling. First, Delph is heavily favored over him to open the season and now Bannan is in great form.
He's very much knocking on the door for a start very soon. If bent's out it becomes an easier decision, possibly bumping heskey up a position, or perhaps gabby with bannan playing wide left

Jenas and Bannanin before Ireland imo.

I'd expect, injuries aside, the same league side we've seen so far, but with Jenas in for Heskey.
I'd go with.
........Jenas-Delph
N'Zogbia-Bannan-gabby
.......Bent/heskey
I doubt AM will drop Petrov immediately...more likely sub him for JJ in 2nd half depending on how the game is going. Similarly I doubt he'll drop Heskey for Bannan.
I'd go with.
........Jenas-Delph
N'Zogbia-Bannan-gabby

You have to sympathise to Everton. A club very similar to Villa. Were one of the leading lights in part of the 80s, had a few glimmers in the 90s, were steady in the 00s. Now, seemingly have no ambition except to stay solvent.
I had a dream last night................ 0-0
Shouldn't Bent be fit I'd go with:
Given
Back 4
Delph - Jenas
Albrighton - Bannan - N'Zogbia
Gabby
I have a feeling he will drop delph for jenas and keep heskey in the side

I know Everton traditionally have a poor start but I still think it would be very foolish to start with just seven players, and no goalkeeper.
I'm all for the team being confident but that crosses the line into arrogance, in my opinion.
I have a feeling he will drop delph for jenas and keep heskey in the side
If Heskey it staying in the side as he's 'doing well', then surely Delph's performances mean the same? I think the team sheet tomorrow will be more interesting and create more debate than the game itself!
Trust me - that's not all it's cracked up to be!
I think we may see Jenas in for Heskey, which I'd sorta be OK with.

Me too. Not that it is a good idea.
Jenas 20/1 first goalscorer with Will Hill should he playI fancy Jenas and Zog to score 2-1 Villa Cahill for them
This is where reality begins......
This is the most played fixture in top flight football in the history of the game........................
Villa narrowly have the edge in terms of victories, but, its very close.

This is the shortest distance I have to travel for a Villa game - 9 miles.
Normally I am buzzing with excitement about this particular day - meeting up with old mates in and around Liverpool and later seeing some lads from Brum.
Got up today and having digested Old Ginger`s comments I am thinking "why the **** do I bother?
Hopefully our lot will be up for this as Everton are there for the taking.
However like many others on here the prediction is ..............0-0

Have a good day mate....say hi to everyone if you're meeting the usual reprobates!
It will be very interesting to see the starting 11, with the addition of Hutton and Jenas, and the form of little Bannan. Albrighton should start if Bent is not fit, with Gabby up front.
