Draw will take place on Thursday evening after the Scunthorpe v Newcastle game on SKY. Who do we fancy ?
Shrewsbury or Rochdale at home ? Millwall or small heath away ? Blackburn for a change ?
Personally I want Bristol Rovers away but think it'll be Brighton at home.
-
I always want anyone crap at home
-
Its been a good few years since we had united in the 3rd round :/ hope it doesnt return

Oh well done now you've gone and jinxed it! ;-)
then again away at Old Trafford with an 11,000 allocation.........mmmmmmm
-
The draw isn't until Saturday, just as we're kicking off against Wolves.
Let's knock the holders out in their first game defending it. Preferably at The Sty.
-
Blackburn Rovers at home.
-
Hopefully we'll continue to get shit teams at home all the way through to the final.
-
Home draw for me. Promised I'd take my girlfriend to a game this Summer but she was working last night. She's not been to the Villa since DOL's last season.
-
I always want anyone crap at home
Blues at home will do for me too !!
-
Shrewsbury at home please.
-
Same drill as always. Someone shite at home.
-

WM said last night it was on Thursday but you could be right.

Same here. I'll have the Rags at home please. Anything we can do to make their season worse is fine in my book. Add to that, it may finally convince the few remaining idiots about our manager's loyalty.
-
Blues at home would be great. With the holte singing Mcleish`s name as Gabby slots in the 5th goal ...........
-
Forest away please.
-
Rochdale away. Local for me and The Cemetery Hotel is a great pub.
-
I'm on holiday that week so for purely selfish reasons I'd like an away draw (with home draws every round thereafter).
-
If their second round tie goes OK, I'd like Bristol Rovers away
-

Draw (http://www.carling.com/carlingcup/draw/) is def on Saturday while we play Wolves.
Anyone at home please

Is that the one on Bury Lane? It's dead in there.
-
Leeds away.

From the Football League website:
ROUND 3 DRAW:
Sat 27 Aug 2011 (Sky Sports - Soccer Saturday)
-
Palace at home
-
Someone crap at home, Rochdale would do for me.
-
The second team in the second city home or away, or Forest where ever just so I can wind up the gaffer of my local.
-
Shit team at home. Simples
-
A cheeky away trip to somewhere I haven't been would be nice.
-
Shit team at home. Simples
This please!
-
MK Dons at home
-
Aldershot at home please.
-
Blackburn are through to the 3rd round !!
-
Let's face it no point in guessing Villa may as well ring up Blackburn tomorrow and fix date and tickets prices!
-
Shit team home or away or any of the Sky teams now rather than semi's or Final.
-
Aldershot home or away please. Have waited since 1964 for the chance for avenge for them knocking us out of the F A Cup.
-
Why on earth is there a League Cup game on a Thursday night? Are two nights of the week not enough?

SKY money talks. Scunthorpe get £150k apparently. They have to play a league game at Sheffield Wednesday on the Saturday though.
-
Birmingham City (A)
-
Trust me: the beer's great. Also a wide selection of whines and spirits.
"whines"? Get enough on here thanks.
-
Leeds away.
For purely selfish reasons this'll do for me!
-
Get the small heathens down to Villa Park.
I mean after all. We're the shit team of the city and we have there reject manager ?
Should be easy pickings for the raining champions and after all there going to conquer europe so they'll brush past us easy.
HAHA Not.

It is easy to understand why it has taken her 5+ years to get over that experience, but a shame that she missed out on the MON era.

Oh yeah, Its specially fermented out in the Riga area of Bulgaria, whereby the grapes are crushed between the lily white thighs of virgin girls, the girls find this so erotic when the grapes burst open that they "whine" and moan with desire.
You should holiday there, i do every year and i take with me a 3 zillion megabit memory card for my camcorder.
-
Birmingham City (A)
Yes please. We need to banish memories of last year by spanking them, and let's face it we won't be playing them in the league for some time.
-
i think after the Hereford match thread the Sussex Villains deserve Brighton (a).
-
we all know its going to be Blackburn, and we will beat them again. They must be hating us with a passion.

Don't you mean the 'southcoast villa'. A really good supporters club a few years ago run by a wonderful man...
-
When is the draw - I thought it was going to be last night ?

-
Tough tie...
-
looks like their defence of the cup will be short lived
-
For me if someone had have said pick a team you don't want to be drawn against, other than the obvious top 4, it would be Bolton....
-
I don't give a fuck about Bolton and think we will win.
-
Haven't they lost a couple of players to long-term injuries?
-
For me if someone had have said pick a team you don't want to be drawn against, other than the obvious top 4, it would be Bolton....
It's Bolton wanderers at home mate, when did they suddenly become this fearsome force to avoid at all costs ?
-
Stoke at home might be worse.
-
Stoke at home might be worse.
A lot worse, we never beat Stoke
-
Could have been better, could have been a LOT worse.
-
Great ! A team from our division based somewhere the other side of Manchester beginning with the letter B !
-
Jesus Christ it's Bolton, why the fuck do we have to shit ourselves against them all of a sudden. At home and all.
-
That'll be another dire crowd at VP

One of the most comprehensive leaving you breathless spectacle's of a thrashing I've ever had the painful experiences of watching was a Bolton v Aston Villa Carling Cup game a few years ago when a certain Jay Jay Okocha ripped us one mighty big ass hole, and didn't they give us a decent game back in March of this year.
Oh yes Bolton on there day can be a real pain.
-
Just like the Wolves pre-match thread, we were going to beat them right? This match will be determined by team selection, ie who can put out the worst team
-
I'm sure Reo-Coker will be keen to play in this one... we should beat this lot though!
-
If he takes it seriously we're favourites. He won't though and we'll lose. 2-0. In front of about 15,000 people.
-

He has to take it seriously. its all we've got, got out of this and its season over effectively.
-
We wouldn't sell this out if tickets were free
-
I expect AM will play a strong team for this (but may depend on injuries, league games around the same time and what players are actually still at the club). Our best hope is that Cahill will be sold in this transfer window and Coyle rests a few players.
-
It might make me a selfish so and so, but I always want us to get drawn away to a little club or a ground that I haven't see us play at. Frickin Bolton at home is the most uninspiring draw I could think of. Will they bring 200?. I reckon about 16-17000 attendance tops.
-

I rather fear the days of dismissing teams like Bolton as 'this lot' as if we are some big club looking down from our lofty pearch as one of the elite of the Premier League may be over?
-
Bolton have got a great team this year, some really talented players in Chris Eagles, Gary Cahill (as we know), Kavin Davies, jussi jaaskelainen, Tuncay, Ivan Klasic, Reo-Coker etc.
Personally I find this a bit of a tough draw, the sort of game that gets dubbed a 'banana skin' by our media adversaries.

No, Bolton are still shite.
-
We are at home, both teams will be under strength, Bolton never win at ours do they...........so should be confident about this definitely !
-
I thought Reo-Coker went to Barcelona? :)
-
After the last two times we have met them in cup games,i am expecting another hard fought game with little to choose between us.Still it could have been Man City away.
-
Date for the Bolton game has been set.
"The date for Villa's Carling Cup clash with Bolton has been announced.
The third round match with the Trotters takes place on Tuesday September 20 at Villa Park.
The game will kick-off at 7.45pm.
Villa made it through to this stage with a hard-fought victory over Hereford.
Eric Lichaj and Nathan Delfouneso scored the goals as Alex McLeish's young charges secured safe passage through at the expense of the Bulls."
