Is this true?
-
No hard feelings (http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,26691,12606_6994894,00.html)
-
Thanks Gary and good luck with a new job when that comes along.
-
All the best. Did OK in trying circumstances at the end of last season.
-
Good luck in future Gary.
-
As been said many times before, he's a very nice chap but not a great assistant manager.
All the best for the future, he did his best and it was alright actually.
-
Good luck with your next job - hope you have better luck than me in findng one - there again you
do have your coaching badges
-
I thought he was behind every problem at the club despite nobody ever managing to describe quite how?
-
To be fair to him he did alright in his run at the end of the season.
All the best Gary.
-
He said some really nice things at the end of the interview. Fair play and thanks.
-
Thanks for everything Gary, you've gone up in my estimation and I wish you all the best for the future
-
Spoke extremely highly of the club. All the best for the future.
-
Where does this leave Sid?
-
Good luck Gary pal.
-
I wish him all the best, he'll probably get a job managing a lower league club soon enough.
-
Bye GMac. Thanks for the Arsenal & Liverpool results.
-
I've wanted him gone but from what I hear he was the only one who would stand up to the players in the dressing room.
-
Dont know whether its a good thing or bad thing but was to be expected.
Good luck with your next appointment.
-
Very good comments on Sky Sports News about the club.
Good luck.
-
I wanted him gone a couple of months before the end of the season, but actually think he was partly responsible for us trying to use the ball better, and would have been useful under McLeish, who if he brings the blues lot, has a very defensive minded set of coaches.
-
Good luck Gary, can't see Sid going.
-
one sweaty sock in the dressing room is enough
-
Bannan?
-
Best wishes macca!
-
Bye GMac. Thanks for the Arsenal & Liverpool results.
Well said Paul

Agreed.
-
Most successful caretaker manager ever.
Probably...
-
Good comments from him there.
He obviously never read some of the stuff said about him during the season on here.
-
Frankly, good riddance.
Wasn't Houllier's first choice as assistant - and you can see why. Has proved himself to be as poor a number two as previously he showed himself unable to fulfil the manager's role. A great deal of the dressing room unrest can, I believe, be laid at his door.
-
He's gone up in my estimation. Good luck for the future and thanks for the 6 points at the end of the season.
-
yeah cheerio...oooo and by the way did he remember to mention all the cups and trophies hes won..?
-
goodbye mac best of luck for the future, dont like anyone to be out of a job but in all honesty you was never suited to the villa, but thanks for your last few games, lets hope mCleish dont get rid of sid cowans
-
Spoke fantastically about us at the end of the interview. Trying circumstances last season but dignified as always, much the same as Houllier so I wish him all the best.
-
Spoke very well of the club and credit to him for that.
As for Sid, no way should he go, that would merit a protest
-
I wish him all the best for the future. He may be rich, and his managerial abilities may be open to debate, but he's had a particularly crappy real life experience, which I'd imagine has influenced his outlook on life.
-
Any links we don't have sky over here?

Seconded

I agree, We have all doubted decisions made by the club recently but the thought of Sid going would be the final straw for me & certainly wouldnt enhance the popularity of Mcleish
-
Best of luck Gary Mac. I had a great time at the last two games of the season.
As for Sid, no way should he go, that would merit a protest
Agreed.
-
I'm a bit disappointed about this to be honest. He's a top bloke by all accounts and knows how to play the game. I was hoping we'd keep him on as a coach.
Dont worry about Sid. He's part of the furniture at Villa. I will kick Paul Faulkner into the next county if he even thinks of letting him go.
-
Good luck to him. He held us together very well at the end of last season.
-
Andy Gray said that Mcallister used to always disagree with him about how big a club Villa is. After a month or so at Villa he rang Gray to say just how big a club we are with such a rich history and heritage.
He did good for us at the end of the season, so thanks Gary.
-
No great loss. Not even sure just what he did.
Said some good things about us on leaving, which makes a nice change,
so happy to wish him good luck for the future.
-
got blamed for things on mere rumours. Think he showed real class the way he took over and hopefully he'll get a job off the back of it.
-
Was an easy target during a difficult time. Efforts were great towards the end. Good luck to him.
-
He came in for some real criticism from all of us last season, some of it quite unjustified. He was doing his best under trying circumstances. He'll land on his feet somewhere I'm sure, and will be better for this experience. He never had a bad word to say about us. Thanks for your efforts Gary. Good luck wherever you end up.

That's from me as well. Good luck and thank you.
-
Me too. Always liked him in his playing days, and did a very reasonable job under incredibly trying circumstances. Good luck to him wherever he goes.
-
I would though Alex would keep his fellow Scotsman in the job.
-
he was the biggest ****** that ever walked when at Villa
we are fickle
DOL was right
-

DOL was right
Dear god you're tiresome.
-
Best of luck Mac. Maybe you still have a role to play and can be one of our agents at the sty.
-
Do we know who his backroom staff are? Good luck mcallister
-
Please let's not gloss over this - he is like Houllier, an abject failure at Villa. Never forget that a Top 6 team was turned into Relegation Fodder for 90% of the season by these pair of clueless clowns.
I will never forget his bullshit 'explanation' for the Cit-eh selection 'we wanted to use pace against them'.
I wish him no ill but won't be following his 'career' with any close inspection
-
A lot of revisionism going on here. McAllister was a waste of space. The fact that we won the last two games of the season is, in my mind, no different to a stopped clock showing the right twice a day.
-
Good luck and all the best for the future Gary.
-
he was crap...
good riddance...
-
I don't know whether he was good or not if I'm honest. How could I? He got blamed for a lot in terms of spirit in the squad, but perhaps he was just trying to be Gerard's 'enforcer' when a number of our senior pros were acting like dickheads, it's quite plausible.
Either way he said some nice things about us so I like him now. Good luck Gary.
-
It didn't work out at all, but I don't suppose it was for a lack of effort. Not sad to see him move on, but wish him all the best all the same.
-
cheerio
-
Hardly covered himself in glory over the last nine months but did oversee a couple of wins against Liverpool and Arsenal that saw us climb out of the shit and in to the top ten
No great loss to be honest but spoke very highly of us in the interview so leaves with my best wishes
-
Thanks and goodbye, maybe he can find a role where he can bring Pires on as a sub somewhere else.
-
He was never Houllier's perfect foil, and that's probably why he was fourth choice for assistant manager. Apart from bringing on Pires against WBA. he proved himself to be capable enough when called upon at the end of the season. I don't think he and Houllier were the main reason why we dropped out of the top six last season.
-
I've had a soft spot for McAllistar since his fabulous strike to win the game for Leicester at Ayresome Park, on the last day 87-88, meant my first away game was a promotion celebration.
He was a cracking player, always came across as a good man and to prove the point he speaks very well of us as he leaves due to circumstances out of his control.
I hope the way he saw us through in trying circumstances gives him another opportunity soon, and wish him nothing but the best.

Gary McAllister is philosophical about leaving Aston Villa after a topsy turvy season as the claret and blues’ assistant boss.
“This is part of the job of being on the coaching side of football so I fully understand the situation,” said McAllister.
“Alex has come along and got the job and I know he wants people he knows and trusts and he’s worked with before.
“That’s just part of the gig so we move on.
“Gerard and I felt things were starting to turn, we were getting people on side and the football and the performance levels were getting better.
“We felt the training and everything during the week was getting better as well.
“It was only when we were getting towards the end of the season we were seeing the fruition of that with some good football and some good results.
“We’re disappointed but Gerard’s health and life are more important than football.”
