Immediately piss off Manchester City with his purchasing of Gareth Barry.
Bring in a Real Madrid player
-
Reel off a list of FACHTS, in order to win the fans over.
#1. Trevor Francis is an absolute fanny...
-
He would say "cloob" a lot and that winds me up!
-
We will have about 7 or 8 Spanish players all signed from mid table la Liga teams in our starting line up.
-
We'd have a very competent manager. Some of us (me included) would need to digest that because he's not our first choice. What I'd know is he'd not be intimidated by the task at hand. He'd play Cuellar and hopefully bring in some players from Spain that can knock it about a bit.

Might start playing some football then..
-
My guess is a press conference.
-
On the plus side we might get one of the thousands of Spaniards who can pass a ball (we already have the one who can't!)
On the downside we might end up with Ryan Babbel or David Ngog.
-
Sky will say they said so all along

Fortunately Ngog is off to the mackems and i still wouldnt mind Babel, although im sure your point wasn't just about those specific examples.
-
How can we make sure he use money wisely and not buy C List players.
-
Is he going to be appointed?
-
Not employing him perhaps?
-
According to the other thread it ain't gonna happen.

Sunderland fan just texted me and said it was done and dusted, don't know how he knows yet.
-
Benitez treated us with complete contempt during Barry-gate (is that its title?), so he would definitely need to win me over.
-
I don't mind if it's Rafa his knowledge of Spanish football will be vast and he might find the next Alonso or somebody similar I know it's hypothetical but it could happen

...before he goes to Man City a year or two later.
-
ssn say no benitez or mclaren
-
Sky Sports News are reporting that Benitez will not become the Aston Villa manager.
Did he fail the interview or something? Board probably turned him down for being too successful.
-
At this rate, Curbishley will get the job by default.
-
For all the reasons listed in the thread that ran when Liverpool were after Barry, I would lose some respect for, and interest in, the 'cloob' if this happened. It isn't the fact he went after our player, which I understand. It wasn't the fact that he obviously swayed GB through other players. It's the bit when he whinged about other clubs doing it to his players (Alonso springs to mind), double standards at their worst.
-
What FSW did over Barry was in the interest of Liverpool football club - who were his employers at the time.
There is no difference between that, and what we did to Sunderland.
I have no grudge over that (nor with MON who was acting in the best interests of the Villa). The only mistake there was both of them started to air dirty linen in public , have a slanging match in front of the cameras and the whole thing was unprofessional.
But as for trying to prize Barry - sorry, he was right to try , and was only doing what Fergusun and redknapp do every week of the year.
-
I didn't say he was wrong to try - read my post.
-
didnt say you did - nicardinho did !
-
Sorry mate :-) I think going after other teams players is part and parcel. It's just whingeing when they do it to you that annoys me.
-
Benitez treated us with complete contempt during Barry-gate (is that its title?), so he would definitely need to win me over.
He was doing what he thought was best for his club at the time, Barry himself was just as complicit if not more so what with his tabloid utterings.
If anything being hard-nosed like that could be a good thing if he became our manager.
-
win a few trophies i suppose...
-
We'll begin playing the most boring football in Premierhip >:( I have absolutely hated the way his teams play. Raping the game of football, that's what it is >:(
-
I've got no problem with Benitez re: Barry. It's not even as if he got him. It's only if he tried to sign the lardarse again in July I might have an issue.
-
The same as Houllier, only slightly worse...
-
if the pressure is on Rafael will brilliantly avoid the question in after match press conferences, as he did s splendidly with Liverscum.
He may also to the watching media narrate a verse or two from a famous Holte End anthem such as 'my old man said be a city fan', or 'I do like to be beside the seaside'
for example.
