Title: Reasons to be cheerful
Post by: DrGonzo on June 06, 2011, 08:23:36 AM
For the smilier fans.

I'll start.  Bent is staying. He loves it at VP.

from F365:

England striker Darren Bent has pledged his future to Aston Villa and insisted: "I'm tired of moving around."

Villa look like losing the services of Ashley Young - linked strongly with a move to Manchester United - while Stewart Downing is stalling over signing a new deal.

But Bent, signed from Sunderland for £18million in January, has assured fans he is going nowhere despite former manager Gerard Houllier parting company with the club because of health reasons.

Bent said: "They (the fans) don't need to worry about me. I'm tired of moving around.

"I am at Aston Villa now and I have loved every minute I have been at the club. The people are nice and the staff are nice.

"It's a shame that a big part of what brought me to the club, Gerard Houllier, has left.

"But at the same time I am committed to Aston Villa and I am looking forward to the season coming.

"Every time I go to the training ground, I get a buzz and hopefully it will continue next season."

Villa are continuing their search for a new manager, with former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti continuing to impress chairman-owner Randy Lerner.

Downing such much the same a few weeks ago. However, I believe Bent. Blinded by love no doubt.

Blinded by love no doubt.

That would explain his miss yesterday.

Read that this morning and it did make me feel better we have to keep hold of Bent at all costs, strikers like him dont come around to often

we can replace Ash and Downing but we couldnt replace him, I dont care that he missed a sitter for England, Rooney went through a period of about 3 years playing crap for England Darren's miss was nothing it happens to the best of players.

Blinded by love and now a possibility he might go deaf. Poor Darren.

None of my Family support another club, none are Noses or glory hunters... That makes me cheerful.

I hope we can buy players of sufficient quality to justify the comments from Bent about staying with us.

I hate to be the cynical one, but I'm sure I read from Sunderland fans that he had said similar things when he was there.

Positive stuff though. If he's happy, then sweet.

He wants to stay because he is not allowed to move for atleast 6 months. I am sure in time he will be in the same boat as Downing.

Yeah I read that as well (think that was part of the reason the Sunderland fans felt so let down). I don't know if the players have to say this sort of thing to the media? Make the right noises? Or if there is any pressure to say what the fans want to hear (especially if other players  are saying how they want to go) I'd have thought they have to do those sort of interviews for the Official Site for sure.

But maybe that's just the cynic in me - I hope he's lovin' it, lovin' it, lovin' it! And will stay a long time

There's a FIFA rule that a player can only have a contract with 2 clubs in, I think, 1 calendar year.

i agree we need to keep hold of bent. But i dont think we have to worry no top 4 club will want him or have ever for reasons on display in the england game. he has the potential to mis 2 in 10 easier finishes he however combats this by making himself available at all time to create another chance. that said who would want him who IS better than us?
man city - not unless benzima, zaltan, eto'o and co turn em down
man u - never not now anyway
spurs - been there almost ruined by that
arse - no hes english dont be daft
chelsea - abramovich dont know who he is in all probability
liverpool - currently have a 60 million quid 35 carol 24 suarez + kuyt so cant see another 30 million man going there.

after those 6 they dont come better or bigger that us. hes here till he retires(i hope) lol
