Don't know if this has been posted anywhere else but now being reported on the Beeb that Kanny Dalglish has been given a 3-year contract at the bindippers:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13378374.stm
Think they'll do well over the next couple of seasons now unfortunately
-
Fair play to him, after being out of fitba management for years he has made a big turn-around.
I wonder how we'd do with BFR back in charge.
-
They'll do OK, but what he's done so far is inspire them due to his legend at the club and get an extra 10-15% that Hodgson couldn't.
Unless he's given some serious money to spend they won't challenge the top 4 and are catchable by us.
-
Easy for Kenny to come in under no pressure knowing that CL wasn't a real possibility this season. Let's see how he gets on next season when the pressure is on to achieve Top 4
-
What about Clarke? Is he confirmed as well. We shouldn't underestimate his ability and worth in that asistant/coaching role.

Tears, tears I tell ya!
-
the torrential downpouring from the subsequent media wankfest will be lasting weeks, so dont leave your house without an umbrella chaps...

I personally think appointing coach Steve Clarke has been the bindippers biggest success.
as my man Chuck D once said "don't believe the hype"
King Kenny my arse !!

Indeed.

It does go to show the benefit of a good number 2, especially when you see how Chelsea went after Wilkins was sacked and that we've got Gary Mac.
Given he's never played or managed in this country, does anyone else think Rijkaard and Wilkins could be something of a dream team for us?
-
Cue an entire summer of tedious "rebirth of the mighty red machiiiiiine" bullshit.

Yup. His reputation alone has given him breathing space - was never going to be under the sort of scrutiny that Hodgson was under, week after week.
-

Yes, I feel light as a feather now.
-
They had to give it him really didn't they. A combination of decent results and the fans wanting him. If they'd have given it to someone else he wouldn't have stood a chance unless he led the league from day one. Doesn't always work out though, i remember going to an Albion game with a mate of mine once when they spent 90 minutes demanding Brian Talbot got the managers job permanently! i think they even forgot to sing about us that day.
-
He'll do well there, particularly when they sign Ash and Downing. How have they stormed past us so suddenly?

Not sure about Ash but Downing isn't going anywhere

We'll see.

"I know it’s been a disappointing season, but I can see the bigger picture.”
“I’m enjoying my stay here. I’ve enjoyed it since the first day I came. It’s a terrific football club. It’s fantastic they want me."
“The important thing in football is, if you’re happy, then why change it?"
“Half of it’s not even true, it’s just speculation. Obviously if you have a good season you get linked. But I’m happy here. "
It would take a serious u-turn if he was to go

Clappy thing.

How have they stormed past us so suddenly?
Have they really stormed past us? ... or have they never really been behind us?

Well they finished below us last season, so yes, they were behind us and they have now stormed past us.

I am gonna use that!

It's hardly 'suddenly'. Last season was the first time we've finished above them since about 1993.

MON will be gutted. Still think he thought he had that job in the bag.

Bollocks! Might have known you'd get there first
-
Dalglish has done a very good job since he went back there, exactly what we need someone to do here.
-
Good news as I think we'll win on the last day now. Managers who do well on "probation" who then get given the job full time often see results slip as soon as that contract is signed.
-
A legendary former player who went on to be come a successful manager, left when things got a bit stressful but, reenergised, returned to lead the club onto glory once more.
Come back Sir Brian we need you!
-
I was never convinced by him as a manager as he inherited the best team in Europe, spent loads, left when it looked like it was all going downhill and was then distinctly average at Newcastle. He's really revived them but I wonder how much of it is Dalglish as figurehead and inspiration and Steve Clarke as the football brains. And I wonder what Woy might have achieved if given the Torres money to spend.
-
It might work out it might not but he has got red blood running through his veins, talking to some Liverpool fans they are over the moon with him being named manager but don't they say never go back a second time.

He built the Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge team - as good as any they have had. I think his reasons for leaving were a bit deeper than it was going downhill a bit.
Apart from his last months at Liverpool when his judgement and interest was waning I have always thought he has brought pretty well wherever he has been.

To be fair he also got Blackburn promoted and won the Premier League with them.
