Crikey.
I can't wait for this one to finish, I don't even want to think about next season.

I know what you mean. I'm quite looking forward to a few weeks of not thinking about football/Villa. However, you know that's going to be almost impossible GH does step down as manager. It's going to be madness around here for a bit yet. Before you know it, pre-season training will be starting.

Plus, the endless speculation on departures/arrivals.

Pre-season training starts first week of July, playing the Asia Cup last week in July.
-
This will have to be called off if we are relegated (wink).

They are not even considering it, season ticket prices are to be announced on Friday.

I haven't been to Pride Park so there's somewhere new to go.

Shame it's a midweek, would've quite fancied that otherwise.
-
Let's hope for another 6-0 victory
-
A guy at the running club I go to is a groundsman at Bescot. Inevitably we have one against Walsall but can't remember when it is.
-
"The pre-season programme will also take Villa to Hong Kong for the Barclays Asia Trophy to compete against Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers and the 2010-11 champions of the Hong Kong First Division League.
The four team knock-out tournament will take place over two match days on Wednesday July 27 and Saturday July 30, with a final to determine the winner and a play-off to decide third place.
All matches will take place in the Hong Kong Stadium."
-
Excellent idea playing Blackburn in a pre-season tounament ! We really cant get enough of each other, fans from other teams will be starting to talk.
-
Walsall game is Thursday 21st of July, kick off at 7.45.
-
Fancy flying 10,000 miles to play... Blackburn.

We also get to play the winner of the HK League, I'm hoping it will be NT Realty Wofoo Tai Po
-
I've always fancied seeing us play Irony Bat Yam of the Israeli league.
-
I'm not sure if it is an internet myth but I've read that when a Swiss team were having problems with stadium reconstruction, Reuters carried a headline "Young Boys Wankdorf erection woe".
I like to think it's true.
-
Any possibility of us taking a squad to Bohemians this summer ?
- I left an unfinished Guiness in Murrays Bar

I hope so Mozza, it was such a good day.
-
Hmm... Derby. Easy to get to, decent pubs, might just go to that one.
-
Can't find any news of it anywhere - but someone posted on Twitter earlier that Napoli have said they are playing us during the Pre-Season.
-
Keys and Gray said we are off to Hong Kong for a tournament, not sure if they are a reliable source.
-
Yeah, that's been on the cards for a while, Barclay's Asia Trophy with Blackburn and Chelsea I think it is.

Dont believe anything those super injunction busting gossip mongering tweeters say.
Napoli wouldnt be bad but theres nothing on ours or their website. Hope we do get a nice fairly highly profile European opposition at VP, after years of nothing I have really enjoyed the ones the last couple of years.

Let's use this chance tap up Cavani.

I can't remember who it was the tweeted it, but it was one of the newspaper journalists.

Resurrecting this thread.
What with all the fuss over this scottish chap from down the road, do we have any more pre season friendlies sorted ?

I was thinking about this on the way to work. Apart from Hong Kong, we've only lined up Walsall and Derby. Dublin would have been nice again, if for the day out more than anything.

Shall we?

If you do go, can I recommend that if you go by train turn left outside the station and walk about 150 yards down Railway St. to the Brunswick Inn. An excellent little pub with it's own brewhouse. Two to try are White Feather and Triple Hop.

That's the only reason I might go.
-
Any news on possible away game in Europe/Ireland? I need something to look forward to.
-
Any news on any other friendlys or is this it?
-
There'll be one at VP the week before the season no doubt, but it's not looking likely that we're playing anywhere in ireland/europe etc but you never know.
-
Aren't they usually announced by now?
-
We're definitely playing Walsall on 21st July as its on their website.
Couldn't find anything on the OS though but guess there will be some ticket news after the Take That concerts.
-
Why can't we play Walsall on a Saturday? Won't be able to make a night game because of work!

That said - if you do go - and indeed go to the pub - don't drink too much because, if there are a pair of boots that fit - you may find yourself playing - so far we have sold / released so many players - with more to follow it would seem (Carlos/Warnock/Downing - and please God Heskey, though this is just plain wishful thinking) AM is likely to struggle to find 11 to take the field.
By way of replacements, we are currently linked with ...erm nobody.... so don't get too tanked up!!
UTV!!

Do you reckon there could be one single thread, anywhere on the forum, that won't have a post by a member of the Latter Day Doomsayers?

I hope we can find one
I'd be the first to turn cart wheels down the Expressway if there was anything to turn a cart wheel for - but the club, and the board in particular, are collectively acting like Enkleman v blues just now
All we can do is have a bit of fun and wait for what the new season offers us - and we'll be there, as always, to enjoy / despair as appropriate.
After all there is bugger all we can do about what happens at Villa - as has been proven recently!!
-

So that's a trip to Poland sorted :)

No home friendly the week before kick off then! Guess that's because the concerts put pitch / stadium work back 4 or 5 weeks this summer??

Anybody interested in going to this, Braga is the ground with cliff faces at both ends of the ground!
If you're going to make a weekend of it, it's currently £177 rtn to Porto at the mo from Stansted with Ryanair (prob nearer 200 with the extras they charge). Departing at 0915, arrive Porto 1135, coming back Sunday it's 2115 out of Porto, arrive Stansted 2335 (there's a 0630/0850 flight also). It's just over an hour on the train to Braga from Porto. They run every hour each way, including Sunday.
I'd go myself, but I've already booked up to take the missus to Berlin for a long weekend!.
-
I called the ticket office today to ask if they knew when Derby tickets go on sale. They said that they're going on sale at Derby today (here (http://www.dcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10270~2386611,00.html)) so they expect our allocation to come through quite soon.

Anybody needing any advice with the Braga game, just let me know. Although you can fly into Porto, if flight tickets are much cheaper to Lisbon, I'd consider it. There's an excellent rail service to Braga, in fact if you like trains, it's possible to do Algarve (Faro) to Braga in about 5 hours. Probably better and cheaper from Brum than going down to Stanstead.
