One win in 16 - boothroyd sacked!
-
Wow, this might mean we can sign Westwood.
*rolls eyes*
-
Feck me ! Hold the front page...
-
Ranson is as tight as a gnats chuff with funding, no fucker will be able to improve them.
I fucking hate them anyway.
-
Nah ,why want Westwood when we can have super duper brad guzan! Ditto fletch I hate them too- horrible club.
-
He deserved the sack purley for signing marlon harewood
-
Marlon King even

Phew, he nearly bought Villa.

Wer'nt you there on Saturday Eastie?
-
I had completely forgotten about them. Do they still sing that Eton Boating nonsense?
-
Yes I popped down clampy, they were dreadful, shocking atmosphere - club going nowhere! Westwood was excellent on Saturday though, without him they'd have gone down the last 3 yrs , good riddance to them.
I had a freebie and anything beats shopping with mrs east!
-
Going to watch coventry vs hull is desperate stuff ???
-
To think Ranson nearly bought the Villa. Cripes.
-
To think that some people were actually keen on that happening.
-
"Anything but Doug"
-
I wonder if MON will apply for the job?
-
I hope they slip down the leagues and go under, nasty little lot!
-
We were always their cup final
Oh how we used to enjoy the walk back from their ground to the station
-
I spoke to a Coventry fan at work about this today. He said they were only two years into a five year plan. I had to chuckle.
-
Their fans were ringing saying they want o neill - how deluded to think he would even consider such a thing - apparently this is 10 managers in 10 yrs and they are now still paying off dowie, Coleman and boothroyd- shambolic , thank god doug chose randy .
-
Oh there is some news about them. I forgotten about Coventry City.
-
not too suprised, they have been crap the last few months!
-
I've not been to the Ricoh yet (although i'll be there for Kings of Leon in May) but Highfield Road was a bloody horrible place. They hated us with a passion. It was always a good atmosphere though, although the games are a bit of a blur.
Is the Rocket Pub by the train station still there?
-
Yes clampy , it is, as far as I'm aware.I fondly remember our wins there , when we scored it seemed almost half their stands were packed with our fans and even when relegated we did the double over them.
Was it Joachim or dwight who scored that incredible goal from the byline-where it seemed to roll along the byline and swerve round the post and in?
-
Ransome Didn't want the football club.Unfortunately it came with the ground/arena/casino.
-
They don't own their ground and Only rent the ricoh ,as such have no real assets - the word I hear is they are very close to administration- sooner the better.
-
The radio reporter from the BBC made a point of mentioning how thin the crowd was at their last game.
-
It is true Damon, food is very sparse in this area!
-
To think that some people were actually keen on that happening.
You won't get them to admit it though.

Yep, Joachim, 2-1 win in the 96/97 season.
The winner was scored by Staunton from near the bullring, it was that far out.
-
the silly cov?? there on a par with small heath..... richard keys a fan and he never says a good worg bout the villa.... cov people are strange
-
I fcuking despise that lot. More than the Blues and that's saying something. Horrible place, vile people.
That's better.
-
perfect job for mon that. No stars, egos etc can get the best from shit and mediocrity.
ie leicester.

He likes to go somewhere with a bit of money, so I don't think he'll go there!
-
I'd forgotten they even existed
-
Ahhhh Mersons goal in front of the Holte and them all crying next to us as the went down.
What a great day
-

What a great day
Coventry fans phoning in to the radio to say that we didn't relegate them was hilarious. Firstly, because it showed a distinct lack of self worth to try and take that as a positive, and secondly because it wasn't true.

yes the defeat at villa park confirmed they were down but had they won at villa park they would still have been relegated that same afternoon because derby won at old trafford .
one of my favourite villa park afternoons -a truly wonderful day.

Not true. If they'd won, they'd have been three points behind Middlesbrough, so despite having a massively inferior goal difference they wouldn't have been mathematically relegated.
-
so you think winning their last game 8-0 and boro losing 7-0 would have been feasible - who cares they were down , we beat them rubbed it in even more and mersons goal topped off a great day.

It doesn't matter. The fact is that we sealed their relegation. If they'd won the dreaded dotted line wouldn't have appeared under their name.
-
My season ticket at the time was on the back row of the doug ellis lower so we were about 10 feet away from them so you could actually see the tears.
Horrible team
Horrible fans
horrible City
At least they have now found their niche
-
they will not find their niche until they are in the conference.
-

Nah, I like them where they are, especially when they win a couple of games on the trot and get all excited about the possibility of the play-offs only for it to inevitably descend into mediocrity, happens nearly every season and it's very funny.
-
come on coops im sure ud love to get them down the lamb and give them a stuffing.

Sod that, there are enough arrogant ex-league clubs and their obnoxious supporters down here already.

Coventry Station appears not to have changed in 30 years
As depressing a site as ever

Fuck me he couldn't even print something using microsoft office and a nice font.
Bet that came straight of the living room wall and he had his tongue out all the time he was writing it

To be fair to them, they don't have much leeway to move it to another site. Coventry Station in the Lake District wouldn't really work.

It could do if the carriage doors opened straight onto that deep lake

Is the Rocket pub still next to the station at Coventry?
Always seem to remember there being fun and games there
-
Whilst I am prepared to concede (in case I set Morrisseybentybenty off) that Cov has some quite nice suburbs, and that Spon St in the middle is nice, the city centre is horrible, and the train station makes New St look like St Pancras.
I used to live in Milan and use their tangenziale (hellish orbital road) daily, and got used to it pretty quickly, but even now, that ring road around the centre of Coventry scares me to death, it is surely the most frightening road in Britain.
-

Yep, and from what I understand it hasn't changed. According to someone I work with its where all the 'Cov skins' meet before catching the train to away matches.
I think the station istelf is getting a refurb the same time as New St because of the HS2 line.
-
Agreed paulie lived here many years but I avoid the ring road at all costs- people getting on and off at the same place - frightening experience, I'd rather go the long way around- the rocket is still there.
Hs2 line is going through kenilworth and not coventry.
-
When I drive to places for salsa I hate driving to Coventry. If you went wrong way it is difficult to find your way round.
-

The city centre is pretty awful and you are restricted to 3-4 decent pubs throughout it. For a night out you may as well just go up Earlsdon, one of the nice suburbs, and avoid the centre altogether. Other than that there are plenty of pubs in Chapelfields/Craven St that are decent and not full of chavs looking for a ruck.

I thought it was going through Kenilworth but stopping at Coventry first?

Doesn't your local Asda have it in the condiments section?

I worked in Chaventry for two years and thoroughly reccomend Earsldon for a night out!
-
my local club 1 mile away-----cant stand them, horrible vile jealous fans, horrid colours---never been to the Ricoh, used to just luv going to Highfield Rd where Villa fans almost doubled their fickle gates --and where we usually beat em ---
they really hate us ---with a passion,
-
I stopped in student digs in Chapelfields. Have they still got that tiny little front room pub thing by the railway arch there?
-
Nope the hs2 misses Coventry out , I live nr Warwick university and have sometimes seen footie coaches in the local as the Pfa coaching schemes are run there , once saw o Leary and Peter Reid in there but long before his villa days.
-
I'm not bothered in the slightest about Coventry as a club, couldn't care less about them. Can't stand the fans though. Exactly the same way I feel about those placard-waving pricks up the other end of the M69.
-
I haave run ins with Cov as a city because of family, but as long as the club know their place in the world (in League 2, hopefully) we'll all be fine.
Does anyone remember their short-lived badge redesign? Fuckin' 'orrible.
-
Does this mean that Kenilworth might finally get itself a station?
Would be wonderful if so.
-
I started seein a girl from Cov once, I'd only seen her a few times, I watched the Spurs V Villa game in a pub with her we lost 5-1, She cheered their goals, I never saw her again!!
Bitch
-
They'd wet themselves with excitement thinking we have a 5 page thread about them. Imagine their disappointment when they find out a lot of it is about train stations.
Are they still obsessed with us, or have they finally worked out that they mean nothing to us?
-
Dave, the hs2 will run from London to the Bhx without stopping as I understand- what would be the point of a high speed service if it stopped at places like kenilworth- if you want it from Coventry you need to catch it at the Bhx, or get the normal speed line.
-
Christ no, PWS. They hate us like Blues with the mutual reciprocation of Darlington and Newcastle.
-
Twice I've made the mistake of wearing a villa shirt when getting out my car and twice I've has car window smashed overnight , admittedly 4 yrs apart - needless to say I keep shirt out of sight nowadays- when I married my wife her brother refused to speak for many yrs because she married a villa fan- yes their fans hate us!

40 minutes is it wiki? Something like that, I think.

Can somebody give Kenilworth a station anyway?
-
I actually think Coventry is striving for some kind of Unesco heritage award as a living monument to shit architecture and disasterous road planning.
They could probably save a few quid by running the high speed link straight through the fucker, I doubt anyone would notice.
-
Highfield road my 1st villa away game, Dion on his return to Cov in a Villa shirt scoring in front of us and i got on TV, finished 1-1 can't remember the year
Got a mate who's Cov fan and he's absolutely gutted! He says that the teams below are so bad that they'll be safe but only just. Can you imagine Cov in League 1? Imagine the gates for them v Orient at home? 6/7k!!
-
Could well happen - I keep hearing from People rumours they are very close to administration and losing £80000 a week and have been for a couple of years- they rent the ground and have no assets , in freefall and long may it continue!
-
Is it right that they don't even earn off matchday sales of food and drink?
-
Yes - not a penny! It's not their ground.
-
Ha, ha, I might go down one week and just gorge on hotdogs whilst ingnoring the game.
Do their fans still wear those stupid fucking flat caps?
-

Maybe Chinny Hill will save them again.
Couldn't care either way about Cov.
I know they hate us but meh.
-
40 minutes is it wiki? Something like that, I think.
30 odd mins I believe
Currently it's about 70 mins
-
They have a couple of fans who look like the chuckle brothers and are right behind the goal with those flat caps- you often see them on tv highlights holding their head as the goals fly into their net- comical!
-
hope cov go out of buisness... bobby gould wot a tosser.....he cost us the league
-

Lots of rumours in The Burnt Post last night Eastie, going into Administration on friday. Lets wait and see as that could well relegate them. Strange as all I got first half of the season from Cov fans was they were coming up & we were going down.
-
Wonderful if true sx, not far from the burnt post myself , didn't we chat last year?
-

Your only about a mile down the road from me Eastie, we did speak last year. Same rumour from lots of people in the pub last night.
-
Lets hope it's true - if they went down I think they would crash completely - we should arrange a drink sometime sx to celebrate their demise!
-
whos going to want to manage them , they are losing £4 million a year.
-
I understand juan Pablo they are paying 3 managers off still and will be leaving andy thorn and Steve Harrison in charge till at least June, apparently he changed tactics to passing it around rather than the long ball and it was a huge improvement last night so local radio have said.
