BBC s pat murphy has just broken news on 5 live that he's been informed by a very reliable source chris hughton to be new manager of west brom.
-
That's a shame, he seems a really decent man.
-
Apparently pat murphy has been informed that talks are at an advanced stage and hughton will be paid a substantial bonus for keeping Albion up- expect an announcement tomorrow probably.
Alan green went over on his show for breaking news from the black country and murphy revealed the story.

No he won't. They won't stay up.
-
Well I shall have trouble sleeping now, what with the excitement
-
Try watching ITV. That always does the trick for me.
-
He could do a good job for them, damnit!
-
I've had this horrible feeling that this is the year that they will finally beat us. If Houghton takes over then I fear I may be right. Let's hope it's not the 6-0 drubbing he gave us last time out. (I know it won't be as we are miles better now but still....)
-
Daily mail and mirror websites are now also reporting chris hughton set to be named as Albion boss .
-
Crikey. Is anyone else breaking this exciting news?
-
I'm still waiting for Martin O'Neill to be announced as West Ham manager.
Although this is dull enough to actually happen.
-
Please don't shoot the messenger! Pat murphy has been around the midlands scene over 30 yrs , a bit more reliable than skys David craig I feel, seems hodgson was 1st choice but he wasn't interested by all accounts.

Christ, back when that 'news' came out you seemed to accept his word as is it had been written on a stone tablet from God.
-
In all fairness dave, the reports seem to be true that o neill had agreed to go to west ham but then after the way the whole thing was leaked he had 2nd thoughts- but David craig has gone down in my book after 'tge way he insisted there was no way bent would be sold to villa , when at that very moment bent was undergoing a medical at little Aston hospital- I will not take great notice of David craig again- lesson learnt.

I think you take this entire press thing a bit too seriously, eastie.
-
Not at all paulie, but I do remember pat murphy being the guy who broke the news graham turner had been sacked 25 yrs ago and he is a very reliable journalist .
I agree the tabloids tend to be much more hit and miss.
-
Chris Hughton eh? I thought they'd have gone for a big name like Alan Pardew.
-
I hope that his experience of getting Newcastle promoted is going to be of most use to them.
-
if true a very good appointment for them
-
The Baggies could do a lot worse. What's up with Newcastle anyways? Firing Hughton after he brought them up from the Championship and taking Ireland? WTF!

What's up with the Geordie's? Deluded messiah seeking fools.
-
The chaps that run my local shop are Albion season ticket holders and they don't want Hughton. Although they also said they wouldn't go again if Fat Sam got the job as they don't play like that.
-
Good appointment, I like the bloke, he did a good job at Newcastle.
-
Seemed to do a good job at newcastle although I hear Appleton will be his number 2 so not sure how that will work, I always think a manager should choose his own staff .
Hughton seems a nice guy although I think he will have a tough job turning them round as they seem to be in freefall along with Blackpool.
-
'They don't play like that.' Yes they do. LLLLLLLLOL

Has Young gone to Liverpool yet? Sky reckoned it was going to happen you know.
-
Did they really clampy? News to me!

Nicole or Natalie?
-
It could be a good appointment for the Baggies he didn't do too bad at the barcodes but i think they could still go down there out of form at the moment.
-
i dont think he'l be any good,
if i was a WBA fan he wouldnt fill me with much confidence, always seen him as a nodding dog,
but agree he does seem to be a decent chap
-
The poor man.
-
Always had a feeling it was going to be Houghton when Di Matteo was booted out. It's a Jeremy Peace appointment all over. I hope he keeps them up though, an away game 3 miles from home is always nice once a season.
-

An Albion supporting mate of mine was right when he said it's a sideways step for them. At the time Newcastle sacked Hughton they were pretty much in the same position as Albion.
Don't see how he's any better than Di Matteo.
Both managers got promoted last season, although Newcastle had a much stronger squad and both work with supporters who are completely unrealistic arseholes.
And I think Albion spanked Newcastle 3-1 just before Christmas (which was Hughton's last game in charge).
Going down

Neither hughton or di matteo deserved to be sacked , after getting promotion the least they deserved was to have a season to try and keep them up and both were clear of the relegation zone when sacked.
