Title: Calling all true H&V romantics - the perfect Valentine gift...
Post by: Des Little on February 08, 2011, 09:14:49 PM
No apologies for the plug - as I mentioned before, Groovysmile is a business co-run by Villa season ticket holders and is now working with the club, so go on, treat the lady/gentleman in your life to something very special this year...

I'll be finding a new place to live if I get the missus a Villa Valentines card!

There would be a lot of low flying saucepans in my house if I got her indoors one of those.

Brilliant!  Best £15 i have ever spent, £5 for the card, £10 for the gum shield!

Ordered.

Noticed the estimated delivery was 16/2, though, which I hope doesn't turn out to be true as it renders a valentines card a bit pointless.

Obviously, this card will be a "joke" one, and I'll have a proper one lined up too. I just want to see her face, she loathes football.

Mrs deej and I agreed not to send cards to each other on Valentine's Day a few years back (commercialism, waste of money, etc.)

I'm still too scared not to, though.

You must give me hubby's contact detail, Lizz. If Tesco's Value is too much for him to spend on you, I'll get him to send you a Lidl e-card (http://www.im-valentinstag.de/lidlGB/).

After all, what could possibly be more romantic?

For the cheapskates (like me) amongst us, Lidl are also selling a dozen red roses for £2.99 from Saturday.

edit: Actually, they're tulips (http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/SID-19DA02FA-3210AAB0/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/offerdate.htm?offerdate=8118). Never mind, they're cheap.

I ordered yesterday, card arrived today, but two disappointments.

1. It isn't made massively clear that you need to enter text for the inside too - if the site warned you of this if you left it untouched, that'd be a decentidea. I now have a card that says "Dear enter name here" inside, therefore useless.

Just noticed also that you can't leave out the "Dear" bit, so you've got to have it printed, rather than handwriting it.

2. Doesn't come with an envelope!

Like it, ordered and (thanks to Paulie) it will have a message inside.

Same theme coming up for Mothers day\Fathers day?

If I got one of those for my wife, even as a joke, she'd batter my bollocks into pancakes with a steak tenderiser.

How are they going to email me without knowing my email address?

For what it's worth, I could see that not noticing that you needed to fill in the inner part to avoid having "Dear Enter Name Here" was my fault, despite it not being that obvious, I bit the bullet and ordered another.

That one turned up today and - annoyingly - also did not have an envelope, so now, having spent the best part of 8 quid, I still don't have a sendable card and need to go shopping for an envelope of the right size tomorrow.

I wish your mate the best of luck with this, but to be honest, two cards sent out, neither with an envelope is a bit poor. He might want to have a word with the people who do his fulfilment.

Are you sending it to Mrs. PW or A. N. Other? I'm giving my card to Mrs. Legion.

Anyway, you make a very valid point. Surely someone should be checking QC before despatch?

It is going to Mrs Walnuts, who hates football with a passion and resents both every penny I spend on Villa, and every minute i spend watching or talking about the club.

Just to see her face, then I'll give her a proper card.

I'm going to give Mrs. Legion the Tesco value card. Once I've hopefully survived the verbal and physical barrage I'll give her the real one.
