Congratulations to Great Barr lad and Villa supporter Dean Smith on being appointed Walsall manager until the end of the season.
-
Indeed, met him once and was thoroughly decent.
-
hope he does well there, working conditions there are on a par with working for doug.
-
Good luck Dean.
-
Went to my old school I seem to remember. Good luck to him!
-
Best of luck, always had a soft spot for Walsall... I always manage them first on Football Manager when I get a new game, did he used to play professionally?

Walsall, Hereford & Orient I think.
-
Good luck Dean
-
Let hope Villa will let him loan a few of their young players.

I spent three seasons at Walsall as a YTS and pro in early nineties and Dean was a good bloke. I think me and him were the only Villa fans. Funnilly enough Kev Macdonald was there with us at the time - another top bloke.
-
Poor bugger. Best of luck to him working for Bonser.
-
Married to my mates cousin met him a few times and a good lad. I remember the poor lad had to turn up to a family wedding reception straight after Brigtonnhad relegated Hereford to the conference a few years ago only to find that a load of us knew he was coming and proceeded to slaughter him all night. Took it really well and had a laugh about it.
Hope he does really well over there and somehow keeps them up (highly unlikely)
-
He'll need more than luck. He'll need a fucking miracle.

I work in Walsall and know precisely two Walsall fans! The honest belief is that they need to stay in the third tier of football because the Board can't handle the Championship's "demands". Even worse than Doug's regime!

I know Dean well ever since early school years, unfortunately havent seen him much over the last few years due to both our careers taking us to places distant but met him again earlier in the year. Still a top bloke and hasnt changed a bit, he was managing the youth team so it looks a big promotion for him, lets not forget he was the assistant at Leyton Orient too so shouldnt be too many surprises for him to face.
