No talkshite please
Apperantly we are in crisis and it's chaos at villa.
They claim it's why martin left, they are so far from the mark.
-
This idea must be catching. I picked up this article in the Irish Press today. It basically says we are going nowhere.

-
I don't care what bozos in the press and at talksport say.
-
They're just wind up merchants.
Talkshite bastards.
-
Would that be Adrian Durham? The only man who could start an arguement in an empty room. Along with Mick 'aint I funny cos im a scouser' Quinn, two of the biggest cocks on the radio.
-
They don't know what they are talking about.
-
No smoke without fire
-
One look at the league table suggests that they may not be too far wrong. OK we have to give it a bit more time but surely a club who are in the bottom 6 at Christmas that finished in top 6 the 3 previous seasons are a club in some sort of trouble. There are lots of reports of rifts between the manager and the playing staff, our best player wants to leave (again) we have been knocked out of the cup by our local rivals and we have amassed just 20 points from a possible 51. I know they over do it in the media but it's not hard to see why they are talking this way about us.
-
We have some issues, and I'll listen to anyone that wants to debate that, apart from Durham and the Fat Bowler. File under "Trash"

Either that or Everton every season!
-
Loads of similar reports around at the moment. Either they're all jumping on the bandwagon, or there's no smoke without fire.
-
TalkShite jump on the Bandwagon? They have a permanent seat on the Security Council!
-
Zzzzzz, yawn, etc, etc

True, but I'd bet anyone that they will finish above us this season.

with Pete3206. Don't care what they say. Time will tell. Just lazy journos.
Got no choice anyway. Don't have a hundred mill to buy the club this week. Got to buy the Mrs slippers. With furry outsides.

I get it everyday with the MON arse lickings from Leicester. These people havent got a clue......
In one breath they said Curtis Davis is never worth 4 million where I conclude who was the twat that paid £10 million paid for him then....

An Irish newspaper saying we were great when we had a load of Irish internationals and we aren't since an Irish manager ran away. No bias there, obviously.
-
"no smoke without fire"........
All those saying this, tell me where they drink and I'll start a few rumours about there woman/man/goat and we'll see how long this bollocks phrase means something.
-
No one should take TS seriously, they'll say Black is Blue just to get people to call in. The only time i listen to it is when H and J is on and Danny Kelly. Its Tabloid radio at its worse.

Didn't they pip us to fifth the season before last? And they finished fourth a few years ago. Anyway this is about Villa and it's no surprise the vultures in the media are circling, we are in a bit of a mess to say the least.
-
I never cease to be amazed at how many people believe there is much truth in (a) what's written in the tabloid press and (b) what's discussed on TalkSport.
-
Who cares what Micky Quinn thinks, the fat, sky blue, horse-abusing prick.
-

I used to be like that, but not any more. Haven't had time to read any newspapers online or catch up with much television or radio today, the snippets I did hear were implying there's a major crisis at Liverpool.

That'll make twice in seven seasons by my reckoning and no wonder the 'vultures in the media' are circling when our own supporters are doing their best to help them.

Well that was a fairly pointless article.
They forgot to mention Farrelly and Kinsella.
-
Quick detour down Memory Lane:
Farrelly could have been a great player if he hadn't thought he was a star before he was a first teame regular.
Back on course now.

No probs.

i dont doubt that there is some shit flying about, ageing players not performing on long term contracts, younger players coming in hungry to wear the shirt, a new managerment team imposing thier way on the way that the team plays and the squad behaves.
If the media want to pain this as a crisis so be it. We are going through a transition, see how the players celebrated the goals against Albion that tells me more about the true spirit of the players that will be here for the long haul than some wankers in the media trying to justify thier wages.
-
It is fairly obvious...
-
I didnt hear it but tell them to stick to talking about Spurs like they usually do.
How would this apology for a radio station know the first thing about anything that goes on at Villa ?
You have that overweight red faced helium headed scotsman, in his playing days the only thing that could be associated with quality football on his part was his surname which was the name of a county that could play football.
Then you have an ex yorkshire cricket player who is employed to give us his expert analysis on Manchester United and Barnsley football clubs.
Another ex cricketer telling us about all things football with his irriating mancunian accent.
Some lunatic semi scouser evertonian who frankly I have no idea what he is talking about.
In the afternoon, Pinky and Perky, two cockney sounding spurs fans who attempt to tell humorous stories but fail while talking about Spurs, Spurs, Spurs and Spurs.
And what do they all do 90% of the time ? Talk on the phone to Spurs fans about Spurs, bloody Spurs fans going on about Harry, Harry this Harry that, hurry up Harry come on, oh yes they are all on first name terms with Harry arent they, like they bloody know Harry personally, probably know him so well they will be going round Harrys house on xmas morning and having a glass of sherry (just dont tell the aformentioned helium headed scotsman theres sherry about, or he will turn up too and they can all get pissed on Xmas sherry and talk more about Spurs Spurs and bloody Spurs) .
Yes Talkspurs, a radio station run by Spurs fans for Spurs fans talking most of the time about Spurs.
Im off to listen to some nice calm classical music on radio 3 now.
-
Ha Ha Ha top quality rant Andy. It reminded me a bit of David Mitchell and his Football rant.
-
If we are in any sort of crisis it's because of two things:
1/ O'Neill quitting days before the season started having not bought a single player all summer, and
2/ The huge injury list we've subsequently endured. Cast your mind back to the summer and never in your wildest imagination would you have expected to see a pretty regular Villa midfield of Hogg, Bannan and Clark!
Despite having had to throw in loads of kids simultaneously, I've seen signs that we'll be a far better team under Houllier, longer term. He's shown he's not a manager who will have his favourites and play them regardless of performance, unlike O'Neill.
We'll prove those Talk Shite tossers wrong..
-
Well that was a few pages of ranting.
I think people outside of Villa might think we are in crisis, but us Villains k ow what's really going on.
And on Talksport, as annoying as some of the presenters are, I think it is by far the best sport radio station around.

Don't let TS get to you like this!! It use to wind me up but i ration myself to a couple of hours a day. I think youre being harsh on H and J,especially Paul Hawksbee,as I think he stops my theory that all Spurs fans are cnuts. Parry is a court jester charachter, but I agree with you about ex cricketers talking rubbish about things they dont know about, they might as well have me on there talking about the ashes.
-

I assume you'reemploying a bit of irony here - I just can't work out which part of the above is supposed to be! Can you give us a clue, please?!
-
Why is it ironic?
We look like a club in shambles! But we know we are not.
I listen to talksport all the time, if you don't like it then great, but stop telling me.
-

Couldn't work out whether "but us Villains k ow what's really going on" was ironic ...
... or whether "I think it is by far the best sport radio station around" was sarcasm.
Each to their own.
-
Then you have an ex yorkshire cricket player who is employed to give us his expert analysis on Manchester United and Barnsley football clubs.
Is this the doughnut that once said something along the lines of "Everyone knows Spurs are my fourth club," or something equally as inane.
I've heard of fans of small or lower division clubs supporting/looking out for one of the big boys or vice versa. Which explains why a few B-lose fans I know also have a soft spot for the likes of Everton and Chelsea. True story.
Well I guess if your lot are fighting it out with the might of Carlisle and Brentford for Leyland Daf honours you'd need a bit of escapism.
It's not a notion I've ever entertained, my generosity of spirit only extends to having a few clubs that I dislike slightly less than others.
But anyone claiming to support four clubs (from the same country -might be a bit different if you're a jet setting type and have more than one city you feel at home in) is clearly some kind of moron.
-
And on Talksport, as annoying as some of the presenters are, I think it is by far the best sport radio station around.
That's a bit like saying Norwich City are comfortably the best team in Norfolk.
-
This idea must be catching. I picked up this article in the Irish Press today. It basically says we are going nowhere.
http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/aston-villa-a-club-on-the-road-to-nowhere-2471614.html
How on earth did that diatribe make it into a national newspaper? It's not even an article, it's just someone slagging off our club and suggesting that somehow the club has let down those glorious Irish talents of O'Neill, Dunne and Ireland. I thought it was possiblly the otherway round recently. Is Danniel McDonnell the pen name of Martin O'Neill by chance?
-

I'll admit: I've only just read it. A pointless waste of time.
Pointless, put together by a pointless individual.

Every Leicester fan (in Hinckley) I know holds him as their "god" and it's the club that got it wrong, they also say Curtis Davis is not worth the money. Worse still the Coventry fans joining in. Juan Pablo is your place on Rugby Rd?

Exactly what i was thinking but beat me too it
-
Im not usually one to come across all paranoid and say that someone is Anti Villa, but just hearing Mick Quinn has confirmend that he is. Not sure if its because he played for Coventry, but as he's a Liverpool fan he obviously has a dislike of GH. Fair enough if you dislike them, but at least show them respect you fat piece of shit as GH has achieved more in the game than an average player from the 80s ever did.
-
Fatty Quin is very anti-Villa. It must go back to his Coventry days as you say.
-
I was listening to this this morning and arrived at the same conclusion (that Quinn has nothing good to say about Villa). I can only conclude that the constant stick Villa fans gave him must really have got to him. Even in the O'Neill days he was constantly belittling and writing Villa off.
It was interesting how he was quick to defend Blackburn's new manager but not Houllier ("Past it" was Quinn's assessment of GH - despite him being the same age as the likes of Hodgson and Redknapp.) The media in the UK is a pretty strange beast when you think about it, it's strange how they seem to arrive at a common consensus over certain things. In this instance I've seen very little positive stuff written about GH - I hope he proves them all wrong with us.
-
Our record since GH joined us is appalling, that's what is driving the consensus. He needs to win some games before you'll see any positive stuff written in the press.
-
You have a point Villadawg! Results are the bottom line at the end of the day.
-
Fairly dour assessment on Gillette SS now too
Merse, Solako, Stelling etc all fairly down beat and saying we're in grave danger of being sucked into the R battle
-
Hard to disagree with them isnt it?
-

What a load of crap that was! No mention that we have had Petrov, Reo-Coker, Delph, Heskey, Agbonlahor etc out for long periods.
It is better for sky to talk about us possibly getting relegated that Wigan! What do those brains of britan know?!!
We will be close in the next few weeks. BUT look at our fixtures in Feb, March & April. We have some very winnable games.
Everton are ONE point ahead of us having played a game MORE. Yet they could possible make Europe and have a squad that could challenge the top 4 if they started better.
Where is the consistancy?
-
You have a point Villadawg! Results are the bottom line at the end of the day.
Not according to the MON-haters! He was slaughtered by many on here, even though results tended to be good.
GH is trying to make us play a different style of football, which will inevitably lead to some bad resulsts along the way. Let's take it on the chin and look forward to (hopefully) watching some good passing football.
-
Its easy to look at results/table and pass judgement etc.
The bottom line is we were dropped in the brown stuff by our ex.manager leaving as he did. If you look at it positively we are only 7pts off 6th place this season, and with all our injuries/off field problems, thats not far away.
Once we get everyone back, with the new players hopefully to come next month, we will be in a much stronger position, and aiming for top6-8 is not unrealistic.
To say we are in danger of getting sucked into a relegation battle demonstrates a lack of knowledge imo.
Remember mon's first season when we went nov/dec/most jan without winning, then with the purchase of young/carew, we went 9 games unbeaten at the end finishing comfortably mid=table.
-
Fairly dour assessment on Gillette SS now too
Merse, Solako, Stelling etc all fairly down beat and saying we're in grave danger of being sucked into the R battle
In fairness they were responding to a point made by Cuellar that we can still finish top 4. The point they were making is we are closer to relegation than top 4, and with the current set up of younger/inexperienced players, the signs that we will be clearing out quite a few players in January, and the point that Randy seems to have closed the transfer fund (nothing spent on players in 2010), they have a fair point, that coupled with some of the displays (Arsenal first half, Liverpool) who can blame them.
Villas future currently looks bleak not bright.
-
Fatty Quin is very anti-Villa. It must go back to his Coventry days as you say.
He is a fat ugly cock of the highest order.
-
Renta-gob's like Quinn may grate, but he has a point.
Blaming O'Neill for everything that's gone wrong won't wash. The current manager's organisational skills are, in my opinion, questionable to say the least.
We are losing too many games and relegation is very real possibility. Even members of the current squad realise this.
Marc admits it's brown trousers time (http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/aston-villa-fc/aston-villa-news/2010/12/27/aston-villa-players-admit-relegation-fight-as-heskey-added-to-injury-list-97319-27891786/)

I couldn't agree more with some of these opinions, including listening to Radio 3. My own opinion is that H & J as they like to be affectionally referred to are so piss poor un-funny it is downright criminal. Not once have I laughed at any of their so called clips of the week. It is my opinion that thye are two up there own arse Londoners, playing it their own way in the comfort zone on a working class radio sation...
As for talkSPORT, I was a dedicated listener for many years going back to about 1997, when it wasn't even talkSPORT in these years some of the presenters they have had on the station have been despicable and clearly biased on one subject or another. Step forward James Whale and his asshole of a sideckick Ash, Danny Kelly, Mark Green, Mike Mendoza, Mike Dicken (RIP) and of course self proclaimed Shock Jock "tell your kids you love 'em" Jon Gaunt. Despite its Villa connections with the likes of Andy Townsend, Ray Houghton and to an extent Stan Collymore, the station has long sounded like an on air equivalent of The Sun newspaper.
In the defence of Adrian Durham, going back to the Gregory era, when Villa occasionally topped the table, he was pro-Villa and has never come across as having something against the club, he winds people up for sure but he does know his football. Actually at the early days of TS he was pretty well respected for his input into developing the various football shows on the station it is only in recent years his persona has been shaped to resemble a numpty. Why he has allowed this to happen is a bit weird.

The last bit from Faulkner is interesting:
It sounds like a cliché, but January’s never been a great time to buy.
“You tend to be a bit more reactive than proactive, so you’re trying to fix problems rather than come up with real solutions.
“But if the right opportunity is there in January which makes us better then we’ll look to do things.”
I fully expect to see Robbie Keane through the door.
-
talksport talking about the Villa is a bit like your mates talking about your Wife,
yeah you know she's put on a bit of weight, and her arse is the size of a small ocean,
but you still dont want them saying it
-
Let's be honest, after 3 reasonable decent seasons of finishing 6th, we were due a duff one. It's the Villa way, especially after everything that happened pre season. Not just O'Neill going but Milner leaving has ripped the heart out of the playing 11.
It's funny but look back just two seasons and we'd just played out a fantastic 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal and were very much seen in the media as the team on the up especially as we were in the top 4 at that point.
Spurs meanwhile had just drawn 0-0 at home to Fulham, were in the bottom 6 after a couple of months in charge for Redknapp and had just sold their two best players in Keane and berbatov. Sound familar?
I think Spurs finished 8th or 9th that season after the infamous 2 points from 8 games start.
So I think that shows how quickly things can change in football, if you get a bit of momentum and actually make some good signings.
You have to say Redknapp has although ironically quite a few of them have been old players brought back.
I'd still give Houllier to this time next year and then have a proper assessment. We won't be relegated and let's see what he comes up with in the next two transfer windows.
-
Collymore is giving the Chelsea fans some stick, very funny, Clark has just been on and said dressing room a tad disappointed to not win.
-
I was listening to their commentary.
Stan's reaction to the equaliser was brilliant stuff.
-
What did Stan do?
-
I turned TalkSport on shortly after the match and Alan Brazil was talking, saying that a load of the Chelsea fans around them were having a go at Collymore for his celebrations, which they then played again.
He was as excited as any of us.
-
Brilliant.
-
A pity he couldn't have been as animated when he was playing for us.
-
-
A pity he couldn't have been as animated when he was playing for us.
True, but he's still a Villa fan, and it's nice to hear someone in the media so clearly on our side.
-
The Chelsea fans complaining about Collymore's obvious bias must have not heard the other commentator reaching orgasm when Terry scored.
-
Stan is great and shares my view that Chelsea should never had had a penalty.
-
Wholly unprofessional, biased and unbecoming of a national broadcaster.
Fuckin great!
Sky had an ex Chelsea coach and the cousin of one of their star players. Fuck 'em.
-
that is amazing.

Stan Collymore's mind. University theses could be written about it.
-
Wholly unprofessional, biased and unbecoming of a national broadcaster.
Fuckin great!
Sky had an ex Chelsea coach and the cousin of one of their star players. Fuck 'em.
It's not unprofessional, stan said he is a villa fan and played for villa and that he doesn't have too be neutral.
Great to have someone on our side having a pop at the sky 4 in the media for a change.
-
did you hear alan fucking smith on sky after trhey got their 2nd goal? " just enough time for chelsea to score a winner "
dick head !!
-
Aww at the little headhunters getting upset at us stealing a point.
Like everyone said, fuck 'em

I think that is very unfair. Most Chelsea fans I know wouldn't even have known they were playing today...
-
Ashley Young's celebration following his penalty was class. Hand cupped to his ear and laughing maniacally at the Chelsea fans as he ran along the goal line in front of them.

He's a Villa fan too. Poor.

He's such a little dickhead and I love him for it. He and Gabby are some of the best wind up merchants about in the Prem... Always trying to provoke reactions but never quite overstep the mark.
Please don't go, Ash :-(
-
To be fair, most of us were saying it too... :)

Like this?

'Have some of that'
Marvelous.
-
One of the best goals I can remember that is, I had an undercover everton fan who didn't say a thing till there equaliser sat next too me in the pub
-
Oh, was there a fanzone thingy on Sky for this? That would be interesting to see, especially if it's the ''Ooh, look at me tan'' fella.
-
TBF, the text I got from one of my Chelsea-supporting friends before the game was "Chelsea are really poor right now and Villa stand a chance". He texted me afterwards to re-affirm the point!

He probably has to read from a pre-prepared Sky 'Sky 4' script so that they have some nice little soundbites for all the Chelsea fans tuning into the game for the first time later in the evening...
-
Didn't realise he was one of us.

Your friend is right, their form since the beginning of November has been almost as bad as ours.

Didn't realise he was one of us.
Yep, I think he comes from Alvechurch.
-
Cannock.
-
A pity he couldn't have been as animated when he was playing for us.
True, but he's still a Villa fan, and it's nice to hear someone in the media so clearly on our side.
Really?
Initially, was of the same thought, but he has become a proper TalkBalls contributor these days. I know the injury crisis has taken its toll this season, but he GH has used a lot of our young starlets.

Oh ... and we want to know who also buys into the Cult of MON?

We moan at the Nationals for some of the crap they say about our Club, but when this rubbish comes from "one of our own", just shows how they view us.

Talkshite was just spouting about how Aston Villa was "desperate" so they bought Bent for 24 million pounds, ten too much...are they always this thick hicks?
-
Apparently according to Talk Sport Chelsea are also in decline, two words always spring to mind in cases like this and they are:
Cock Piss
