Have you seen Bartons Punch on Pederson last night.
I know it has been discussed many, many times before, but is there a bigger wanker than Joey barton in the game ?
For a start, why was he running over to get involved in the first place ?
Then his attempt to explain his 'assult' as a gentle push are laughable.
It should be a 10 match ban as a minimum, then sacked by Newcastle.
Somehow though I doubt anything will happen.

He's an extremely nasty piece of work and utter scum. Always has been. And judging by his racist murderer brother, it runs in the family.
There's bound to be another PR offensive from his advisers on how misunderstood the poor lamb is and how hard he's worked on his temper, how he was provoked and so on. But the fact remains he's a psychotic scumbag. I hope he gets it all back in spadefuls one day.

When he targeted Maloney that time he could have had the pick of Bouma, Harewood or JC.
I wouldn't mind if he fancied himself as a hardman, quick to temper and all the rest of it. But when he picks probably the least aggressive player in the opposition to target it says a lot about the bloke.

Yes, that was a street fighting move based on karate to disable your opponent. Pedersen was genuinely shocked.
I was a bit disappointed that a Blackburn player didn't take retribution.

You do the get the impression that he is a walking time bomb capable of extreme violence at any time - on and off the pitch.
The punch on Pederson was not an automatic reaction which is what you often see on a football pitch - but sinister and pre-meditated.

i think he has been trying harder in the last 12 months or so,
he made another mistake but should be encouraged to keep on the better pathway, people do somtimes fall of the wagon, they should be encouraged to get back on again, especially someone who has a lot of his life in front of him.

What got me was his attempt to cover it up when cornered by the ref afterwards.
Even Pedersen appeared to raise his hands to apologise when Barton shoulder-barged him before the punch.
He's not a wanker, wankers are reserved for the likes of Adebayor and Gobby Cabbage.

He's 28 and has been doing this sort of crap for most of his adult life now. Just a few of his incidents - 2004 - stubbed a lit cigar out in a teammates eye; 2005 - assaulted a 15 yr old Everton fan on a pre-season trip; 2007 - convicted of assaulting Dabo on the training field and leaving him in hospital; 2008 - sent to prison for assault; 2009 - suspended by Newcastle for losing it with Shearer in the dressing room. (Thanks Wikipedia!!)
He's had more chances than anyone could consider reasonable and the guy clearly doesn't have the ability to sort himself out.
The FA have charged him tonight so there's a 3 match ban heading his way, and fully deserved too.

i agree he should be punnished for his offence, no problem there.

i'm not sure of his backround and upbringing but i bet it wasnt ideal,

we are too quick to throw people on the scrap heap, where we should be encoraging them to change and become better people, especially if we can see they are trying,

A "Hayemaker"(sic) is not an effective punch at all, and you would rarely if ever see an accomplished fighter like Tyson throw such a punch.
A short arm dig into the rib cage with straightened fingers by somebody who knows what they are doing, on the other hand, can be very effective indeed.

As much as Savage is a nob, i just can't see the comparison with Barton.
To my knowledge, Savage has never hit a teammate to the ground from behind, then proceeded to hit him while on the ground.
Savage has never beat up a drunken defenceless child.
Savage has never risked a teammates eyesight.
