Title: New Kit available
Post by: Chico Hamilton III on November 10, 2010, 10:28:05 AM
is there a thread on this already?

£50 for a long sleeved adults? not that I'd ever buy one myself.

£35 for kids. Any idea how long the kit will be used for? i.e. will it change again next season? Just curious before I start spunking my hard earned on a nylon  rag with a limited shelf life.

I know, I know, if I don't like the price, I don't have to buy one. If my kids didn't beg me for one, I wouldn't

I had a text from AstonVilla today:

'The 2010/11 home kit is on sale TODAY & inc. free shirt printing and £10 voucher with purchase (T+Cs apply).  Villa Village store open until 11 pm tonight.'

What a load of bollox !

They should sell them cheaply to those guys near the ground who sell non Villa c. stuff; and let them sell them to the punters for £25.

Villa and Nike should part company, but they won't, you watch.

Fuck off.

They're surrounded by Millwall, Chelsea and Arsenal fans at their school but my kids are Villa loyal. I'm surprised they don't tip over backwards, the amount of villa badges and keyrings on their school ruck sacks.

I've recently taught them to boo whenever we go past the New Den.

I got a Le Coq 1982 "Champions of Europe" shirt for my youngest. Original, still in the bag. Fits him perfectly

Didn't realise the kit will be replaced again next season, what a disgrace. I wouldn't buy one anyway especially at that price and especially knowing that the club will be expecting punters to buy the new kit next season, whenever it comes out. Tossers.

The £10 voucher with the home kit is a bit of a piss take really. If anything, it should be a voucher off the away shirt if you buy the home one. Bit of a farce all round really.

If you pay £40+ for a shirt in August, you're nuts IMO. Never mind November.

Villa and Nike should part company, but they won't, you watch.

It's called a contract. Thus we can't until 2012.

http://www.sportsdirect.com/football-shirts/premier-league-teams/aston-villa

Usually the place to save a few bob, but even Sports Direct don't have as big a discount as usual.

You save £5 on the s/s adult and £3 on the s/s junior.

I won't be buying it, so haven't seen if they charge for delivery or not

Contracts have clauses such as deadlines for delivering by agreed dates?

And get-out clauses if these aren't met?

Unless we put a chimp in charge of contract negotiations, I'd have thunk that Villa have good cause to tear up the agreement.

Save £10 here on your shirt, compared to the Club shop/website. Although of course the club sees no benefit from shirt sales as the units are ordered from the supplier.

We used to... He was called Martin O Neill. And he thought it necessary to pay Habib Beye £40k p/wk.

And is the reason Reo Cokers contract expires at the end of the season. Nice one MON! I blame this seasons shite, solely on that prat...

Well,i know they'll be a very, very excited 9 year old when he arrives home after school and sees the delivery from sports direct that's arrived.

Complete with a home top,ED 9 on the back, and it does look rather dandy. All brought with his August birthday pennies,so he's obviously kept the faith.

Mind you it took all my powers of persuasion for him to forget about his usual full kit,I explained it'll be in the bargain bucket when he can finally wear it.Imagine the sales of the full kits are going to be dramatically reduced.

Instead he's had a rather fetching pair of adidas f50 mercial boots, white complete with pink laces(it had to be pink,a pre requisite). The curse of the modern day footballer.

Off to the Holte pub for the first time tonight,he'll be wearing it most proudly with all his other school cronies whom sit next to us now.

thought about it :-) unfortunately I can only blame that div for footballing matters.

I did see on Ebay, that the villa kit (and others) are available from Thailand for a mere £15. However, there's a 30-42 day wait for delivery & I'd like to bet there's a high percentage that's "lost in transit".

I think I will stick with last seasons kit for a while.

I don't like the design, I don't like the price, I don't like the fact it is a rip of some frog team's shirt and I don't like the fact it is late.
Title: Re: New Kit available

Kits should be on sale just after a season has ended, ready for a Summer of wearing them.

I read into this that Villa have negotiated to buy the shirts at £10 less and hope to sell as many as they can, but less than last season.......

Maybe Villa have negotiated a better deal for next season as well.....but I can't see this being passed on to the fans, and it shouldn't be.

Nike have lost out as well as us, but I am sure we could have ripped the 2012 contract up and signed one with Adidas ready for next season instead.

It's not as simple as get rid of Nike and get addidas. I think it would be us trying to get adidas rather them wanting to join us.

I would love adidas though.

No Villa gear on the Nike website, except for shorts and these socks (http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/nikefootball/en_GB/commerce?p=PDP&pid=324922&pgid=324923&cid=102602#?ll=en_GB&ct=GB), described as "red" and yours for £30. Thirty. Pounds.

I don't care if we get Adidas, Puma, Kappa, Umbro, Le Coq Sportif, Hummel, Diadora, Asics, or anyone else but come on Villa, ditch these clowns please. No respect.

Personally, thanks but no thanks.

However, a kit for a 2-3 year-old will be purchased for March with Fred 3 on it. I think I might have a mild case of OCD.

£30 for a pair of socks says almost as much about football's detachment from reality as Yaya Toure's 200k a week.

Bump.

The shirt's now available on the Nike website  (http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/nikefootball/en_GB/commerce?p=PDP&pid=378481&pgid=324917&cid=102602#?ll=en_GB&ct=GB), but it's still described as "red" and it's cheaper to buy it from the Club.

Those socks are down to a tenner as well. But they aren't red either.

I still won't be buying one.

As much as they've dicked us about with this kit, they are still the worlds top sports manufacturer. For a club such as ourselves, we won't have an ice cubes chance in Hell of breaking in to the top 4 with the financial support companies like Nike provide. They are a global brand, and as a result our shirt will be sold much more widely than it would with another brand. The pros of being with Nike far outweigh the cons.

I hope this is a joke post!

So being 5 months later than other teams is a pro?

How about the fact that the kit is Lens kit for 2008? Is that another pro?

Kit manufacturers change, the Club stays the same. I'd rather have the kit provided by a company that respects the Club enough to:

1- make an effort to produce a unique, individual design to represent them on the pitches of England and the newspapers/ TV screens/ websites of the world, rather than rehashing an old design; and

2- treat the loyal paying customers of that Club with the same respect that they treat the customers of more popular clubs.

I wouldn't describe a company that aims to provide kit for a Premier League club in the manner that Nike have done as "the world's top sports manufacturer". I'd describe their performance regarding this season's kit as disappointing at best, and lazy and dismissive at worst.

Stick to your Arsenal and Manchester United cash cows, Nike, Aston Villa deserves better.
