Probably best unlock this then.
-
We're going to go 1-0 down in 30 seconds again aren't we?
-
About time
-
Lets hope you're right Kmac......
-
It's like waiting for the pub to open
-
I'm quite pissed off with every one on here! We have fucked up 3 year in a row because we played the same team every match!
So let's all get behind the lads!

I'm sorry I don't understand your point, care to elaborate?
-
Links for stream!!!
That new Villastreams is to heavy on my bandwith here in Brazil...s... f...
-
Crikey! That's, er, that's quite a remarkable team selection! Oh well, I'm sure he knows what he's doing.
Looks like the old 4-2-3-1 formation, then...
-
Come on the Villa youngsters. Put in a good performance.
-
You cant take this competition seriously any more sadly.
19 games to win it is too much, you get no money for playing in it. If we get through to the knock-out stage we can take it more seriously, as it is still worth winning. Just not at the expense of our league position

Only two years have we fucked up with playing the same team every match. So far the same amount of times we have fucked up in Europe whilst playing weakened teams.
-
Heskey falls over within the 1st minute.
-
Afternoon all.
The missus has just shot me a filthy look. What can you do other than crack open a can when Villa kick off?
-
still 0-0 1-0 down at this stage last time
-
Close from Bannan
-
Lads are looking good so far.
-

At the end of the day The FA cup means fuck all as well now as the big four don't take it seriously until the latter stages. Maybe we should play a similar team in that as well?
-
Good start by Bannan so far, looks skillfull
-
So close there. Unlucky.
-
Nice touches from Bannon.
-
Anyone else think the coverage on TV is atrocious? Seems to be can crowd murmerings.
-
Decent start,albrighton looks lively again
-
I tell you, wwith albrighton getting a run in the team , we will get loads of corners... close there
-
Decent passing and movement nice to see.
-
Any decent live feeds?
-
Anyone else think the coverage on TV is atrocious? Seems to be can crowd murmerings.
It is crap isn't it?
-
Looking good so far
-
I like this. Get it Albrighton seems like a good plan to me.
-
Heskey and Downing looking comfortable.
-
i thought Id stopped this bloody post thing on the forum..
-
Who is this boss Hogg figure?
-
Any decent live feeds?
Yes ITV4!
-
daft commentator saying Ireland should be playing. He wasn't a Villa player when the squads had to be finalised.
-
Any decent live feeds?
Yes ITV4!
It isn't that decent! Looks like its on a camcorder.
-
Save Brad, should have been a pen though.
-
Measured, assured defending there.......
-
Fucking hell. Bit of a cockup there. Good save from Guzan and lucky we hadn't given a pen away.
-
Should have been a penalty but that was a cracking save from Guzan
-
Lucky that was a pen
-

Not sure if that was sarcasm or not.
All I would say if the FA Cup doesn't involve a potential 19 games. 10 of those games not just away from home but across Europe.
-
cynical foul on albrighton there.
they're shitting themselves when he gets the ball
-
get in bannan
-
YES!!!!!!!!
-
Yes!! Bananaman!!
-
Bananananrammmma
-
Woo-hoo!
-
Super Marc!!!
-
Any decent live feeds?
Yes ITV4!
It isn't that decent! Looks like its on a camcorder.
I think they are showing it in Low Def
-
anyway we are going to win anyway :)
Well in Barry
-
Get in! Albrighton quality, awful defending.
-
YEEESSSS
-
Deary me, Albrighton gets better and better! Get in Bannan!!!
-
Goooaaaaal
-
I thought it was really quiet on here today and then realised I was posting to myself still in the pre match thread!!
-
crackin :D
-
bannan!
-
so fookin proud..
what a goal
old style Villa.... tony morley on the wing.....
Love it
-
That was absolutely world class wing play, this kid is going to be a star.
-
That is brilliant wing play yet again from Albrighton.
-
We look quality, lichaj abit shaky then but what an assist from super Marc
-
Away goal...done!
-
That is brilliant wing play yet again from Albrighton.
to be fair looking at the replay again, what the fook was the full back doing, he just fell over.
-
Haha, fcking Albrighton skins that defender again leaving him on his ass. Sick move there... got that vital away goal.
Awesome start.
-
Just a small word for Heskey's crucial part in the build up to that goal, great control and reverse pass to put Albrighton in.
Those away goals are so, so valuable.
-
I've got such a massive smile on my face at the moment. I'm not sure if it's the fact that I'm seeing my Villa playing the hallowed 4-2-3-1 or seeing them play a really nice, to feet, passing game. Whatever it is, it feels like I've been released from a very dark cave into the sunlight!
-
Tld you, how may corners already
-
Well the contrast in our display here and last year are remarkable at the moment.
-
Bloody ell! I just came in and we're one up! And playing well!!
-
Anyone know what formation the reserves normally played last season?
-
Yes, he did well there, Heskey. I think he's actually a better 'target man' when the ball is played on the ground, funnily enough, as he's always been quite handy at playing in attacking midfielders.
-
Heskey was like that Bolt sprinter then
-

Just so fantastic to read posts like this even though I can't see what's going on! Lol!
-
That is brilliant wing play yet again from Albrighton.
to be fair looking at the replay again, what the fook was the full back doing, he just fell over.
He just wasn't expecting Albrighton to move inside, thought he was going straight to the byline. It was also a great ball to Bannan too. He was very composed when a lot of players would have just smashed it into the box hoping a team mate would get on the end of it.
-
Tld you, how may corners already
About 149 already this season.
-
Just a small word for Heskey's crucial part in the build up to that goal, great control and reverse pass to put Albrighton in.
Those away goals are so, so valuable.
I think we had a discussion on here last season or the one before. With a 1-0 away win an away goal is not worth anything.
-
Man shitty just bid 38 million for Marc
-
Not sure about this line-up.
Hogg, who as far as I'm aware hasn't been near the first team before.
A rookie at the back in Lichaj, Beye in the centre and Heskey up top -never good.
Albrighton looks well up for it though, and I'm gad Bannan is getting a run-out.
It's positive that we'd pick a player like him in the position he currently occupies.
Slight of frame, but a canny footballer.
A wee bit concerned at that defence though.
-
Good chance for Midge Ures lads there
-
Not looking good defensively from corners.
-
Ian dowie is doing my head inn
-
Looking a bit dozy in defence. Need some concentration in there.
-
We are actually playing to feet and looking like a decent passing team all of a sudden. Albrighton has been brilliant again thus far and Emile looks a much better player now we have stopped hoofing it up to him.
Saying that they should have just equalised.
-
Man shitty just bid 38 million for Marc
With Milner and Joe Hart in exchange.
-
So how do you pronounce Lichaj, then? Is it (as I thought) 'Lee-high', or as the commentator on ITV is saying 'Lee-chai'?
-
Not looking good defensively from corners.
Baby Brad seems stuck on his line
-
So all 4 goals so far this season, Albrighton has been deeply involved in.
-

Eh?
-
Heskey is putting himself about a bit.
-
Ian dowie is doing my head inn
Hes already done his own head in by looking at his face
-
Great start! Following this via text and a bit of a dodgy H and V feed out in Spain on hols. Nothing better than seeing your youngsters making the grade...
-

Eh?
I found that one strange
-
Ian dowie is doing my head inn
He knows nothing either! He keeps getting Bannan and Albrighton mixed up and then complained that we weren't playing Ireland even though he couldn't play due to him not being signed in time! What a knobhead.
Hes already done his own head in by looking at his face
-
Brilliant work from NRC there a few minutes ago.
-

Spot on. Come on Rapid. Get a couple of goals so the away goal becomes worthwhile.
-
We could get a second here

Eh?
Think about it. Away goals count double if you finish level. To be level then they will only have to score one goal 1-0. Then our away goal is chalked off instantly for it to be level. Any other score to get level will mean they win on away goals so 1-0 is useless under the away goals rule. Actually in theory they only count for the away team in the first leg if both teams score during that one match.

Quite.
-
so If it stays 1-0 to Villa and Villa go 1 up at home, rapid have to score 2 away goals,,,,, away goals come in handy
-
Dont know where Guzan was going then.
-
Brad Jr is a bit frightening at times
-
I'm still concerned by Brad at set pieces, he doesn't appear to be learning.
-
so If it stays 1-0 to Villa and Villa go 1 up at home, rapid have to score 2 away goals,,,,, away goals come in handy
But not for the team playing away first leg.
-
Kev Mac looked happy after the goal... good on him..
-
The pic is so bad Im getting beye and CD mixed up
-
bollocks
-
Bloody hell.
-
WTF
-
Shocking goal to concede.
-
Brad Guzan isn't up to the job.
-
Awful defending.
-
Shit.
-
rubbish
-
Ball bags
-
Fuck, awful defending.
-
Crap goal to concede
-
That wasn't Guzan's fault, but I kind of agree that maybe he isn't going to be good enough.
-
Davis to albion for 2 mill ;-)
-
That was soft. Villa look shite dealing with crosses
-
Come on Villa... get another
-
The pic is so bad Im getting beye and CD mixed up
Watching ITV4 makes me realise just how used I've got to watching most matches in HD
-
Defence all over the shop.
You can dick about with other areas and other positions, but there you need a bit of cohesion and organisation.
-
Come on Villa, we can get a result here.
-
We've gone right off the boil in the last 15 mins.
-
They are peppering us at the moment. Guzan is going all over the place.
We could possibly score 3 and let in 4 at the moment. I reckon there will be a red before the end. Hopefully one of theirs.
-
What is Bred Jr doing? He really isn't up to it.
-
The pic is so bad Im getting beye and CD mixed up

It's like watching something shot on a four year old phone and stretched to fill the screen.
-
Goalkeeper and defence have been concerning, but defence is new together so I'd expect them to shaky.
-
I really don't rate Brad Jr, apart from facing penalties

Because it isn't ITV's cameras at the match. They are just piggy backing the feed from Austrian Telly.
-
Hogg has been pretty much anonymous
-
Hogg has been pretty much anonymous
I don't think I've heard his name mentioned.

the eurosport games are in HD.... even all the highlights
-
set plays alittle poor
-
With this game today does Curtis qualify for a payrise?
Or is that only applicable to league matches.
Remember seeing somewhere that his contract was due to go up after a certain amount of games.
Only reason I ask if because if we play him and that kicks in it would indicate he is sticking around for a while.

Cheers eamonn
-
Reo is pretty much having to do the work of two central midfielders.
-
miss kick by davis
-
And Beye of two central defenders and a RB.
-
Distinctly pub-playeresque from Davies, there.
-
good save
-
Well this is rubbish now.
-
http://atdhe.net/22740/watch-rapid-vienna-vs-aston-villa
-
They're all over us now.
-
Lichaj good heading clearance.
-
albrighton reminds me of Bentley when he came on the scene... need to give him the ball more
-
Has Hogg touched the ball yet?
-
Very lucky to be going in 1-1
-
HT. Decent start, hanging in after they scored. Bring Albrighton back to the right and replace Hogg in midfield at the minimum.
Who's on the bench?
-
Would have taken 2-1 to them before the start of the game looking at our line-up.
Looks like a good bet unless we sort wor selves out second half.
-
didnt see the subs.....
Hogg been quiet , Id bring defonz on for Hogg and put downing central with NRC
-
We need to bring Fonz on for Hogg and Clark for lichaj or Davies
-

The issue with ITV4 is not the original quality, it is the bitrate at which they broadcast.
Basically, the signal is compressed to within an inch of its life, and it shows up really badly on a fast moving subject like a football match.
-
If Collins is on the bench he should come on for Davis cos if Davis plays 2nd half we are ion deep shit!
-
Tony McAndrew sporting a very strange hat, there.
-
It's not bad at all. We had a very strong first 30 minutes. They've come back into well, particularly down the right.
Keep it tight and get the ball to Albrighton should be the HT mantra i think.
-
I only saw Osbourne ;-((
-
I'd take a 2-1 defeat at this stage.
-
Well the second half of the first half was horrible and it goes with the English cricket team as well. Hogg off, because he has done nothing.
-
Has Hogg touched the ball yet?
I was thinking that, A good start but we look light weight in midfield coming at us now, Davies looks poor but that could be a confidence thing.
Considering the team Im very happy at the moment. I don't want to lose this now. Who's on the bench? NRC needs a bit of help
-
The trouble with moving Downing or Bannan into CM is that we are already lightweight in midfield anyway. With NRC already yellowed (wrongly) we could also loose him second half through one mis timed challenge due to another missed tackle from his partner.
-
We're looking ok, other than shakiness at the back and Hogg not really getting anywhere near the ball.
Firm up midfield, and get Clark on for Davies, who looks all over the shop.
-
the fullback goes out for a pie
-
Since when did we become shit at defending crosses and set-pieces; I know Curtis Davies and Beye are playing together for the first time, but there is a serious lack of communication.
Take that Hogg off or whatever he's called, he's practically non-existant first-half.
-
Heskey has been poor, Im not having a go because its Heskey but he's looking off the pace.
Set plays (defending) are looking a problem also
-
Brad Friedel might sort the defense out.
-
Heskey has been poor, Im not having a go because its Heskey but he's looking off the pace.
Set plays (defending) are looking a problem also
heskey had that one sprint early on and thats fooked him for the rest of the game
-

After a bright start, he's not helping my cause in defending him this week. Then again, after a bright start sums pretty much the whole side up.
-
Get Heskey off. Why the fuck does he ever get on the pitch?
-
There's plenty of inexperienced and/or rusty players out there, mistakes will happen. Another goal for us in the 2nd half will do the trick.
-
Get Heskey off. Why the fuck does he ever get on the pitch?
Although I think he has been almost without exception, pathetic for us since signing, I reckon he's at least put a shift in tonight.
-

Because he does what he does in setting up the goal?
-

you jsut expect him to be one of the experience ones helping the young lads... he aint bothered, just wondering what hes gonna spend his money on this weekend
-
Hogg has been a passenger and done nothing- guzan looks a nervous wreck every time a cross comes in and doesn't inspire confidence.
The game could go either way but there's no point keeping hogg on - where is ciaran Clark tonight?
Too many changes tonight I feel , 3 or 4 is ok but 8 changes is far too many.May as well throw weimann or the fonz on and see how it goes .
-
second half coming up
come on villa
any subs?

I have to say, Heskey has never struck me as that type of person. I agree that he should be a leader with this line up, but I don't think his professionalism is ever in doubt.

Just crap then PW
-
Time wasting 5 minutes in ...are we frightened?
-
Guzans the man ;-)
-
Hints of Klinnsman-Bosnich there.
-
That was a nasty clash
-
Ouch !
-
It's all gone quiet over here!
-
Why didn't Guzan come off his line initally, nearly left the full-back in the shit.
-
Better Villa
-
Albrighton does look like the one who can step up out of the youngsters on the pitch. Cleary Hogg is not going to.
-
Whatever happens there is no doubt Albrighton is class
-
close there
-
Unlucky from the header then Heskey.
-
Albrighton does look like the one who can step up out of the youngsters on the pitch. Cleary Hogg is not going to.
Bit harsh based on one match.
He needs to be taken off, though, I can remember him being mentioned once all match
-
FFS beye..lucky
-
Well I'm also guessing at 21 he might have shown more by now, but maybe not.
-
playing with ten men
-
The ref is really getting biased by the crowd, who are shouting for anyting even the 0-100
-
Has Hogg done anything yet?
-

He did take the corner just now where heskeys header was blocked a yard from goal. Not that we know exactly what happened as the Austrian director won't show many Villa highlights.
-
Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or cry at Emile's look of utter bemusement.
-
He just gave the ball away there.
-
Did you know...we have just one midfielder 6'0 or above. And that is Osbourne. So we have no midfielders 6'0 or above.
-
Lichaj has been decent for the most part.
-
is he 21? Crikey.
-
No !!! I dont want to win a bleedin green card., I just want to watch the game!!
..any decent links folks?
-
apparently so, so I'm not overly confident in his ability.
-
good shot stopper
shame about crosses
-
throw them out of the comp for that ;-))
-
things thrown at Guzan now.
-
I'm not really sure what Hogg's role is, he doesn't appear to tackle, pass or do anything really.
-
When will husky be f*cked off to another club?
-
I believe Hogg is playing the Sidwell role
-
NRC well done
-
Do away goals count?
-
Just heard Hoggs name
-
Warnock has been poor.
-
Do away goals count?
They do now.
-
We need to make a change.
-
Do away goals count?
They do now.
:)
-
Their manager has jeans on. I don't think I've ever seen that before.
-
Warnock has been poor.
agree, dosen't seem to even be on the pitch at some times, just leaving a big gaping hole at left back.
-
Hogg seems to have finally woken up.
-
great play then, shame about final ball
-
Genius from Albrighton!!!! Deserved a goal
-
fook close NRC shame it wasnt someone else
-
Good try RC
-
The Hoggfather just burst into the game with a flurry of touches.
-
Come on the Fonz
-
Fonz on for Bananaman
-
Substitute on 75 minutes.
Hmmm. Any Woody Allen lookalikes on the bench?
-
Was going to say good goal Barry Banana but you had disappeared as well.
-
Their manager has jeans on. I don't think I've ever seen that before.
if they score a winner he will do that dance from footloose. The one with Kevin Bacon and the tractor
-
Good save Guzan, what was Beye doing.
-
awful defending again.
-
Refs got his whistle stuck up his arse at the moment.
-
what's the best we can hope for? Not to get completely mullered? That is a pretty crap ambition
-
The ref has been utter shit, does he not know it's a contact sport.
-
Well done Marc... did your job again
-
Weimann for Albrighton
-
Weimann on.
-
Well played again from Albrighton.
-
fuck the ref
-
The great thing is that this is only 20% of our regular defence. Throw in Friedel and 3 other regulars and we would look a lot better. Hopefully we can see this through now and we'll have got what we needed here, plus have players rested for the trip to Newcastle.
-
fuck the ref
No thanks. Is that some 'island' thing?
-
Keep it nice and tight for the last 10, then finish them off at VP.
-
This reminds me of the Celta Vigo game where he stopped the game after 87 mins
-
Weimann on.
I thought they had taken bannon off...Wee-man
-
Weimann looks like he is broken.
-
If they had a half decent, good in the air stricker, we would be well in the poo by now.
-
Weimann looks fucked.
-
Weimann for Albrighton
When did we get Shaun Maloney back on the roster?
-
Missed that, what happened?
-
If they had a half decent, good in the air stricker, we would be well in the poo by now.
In German a `Stricker' is one who knits. `Strickjacke' is `cardigan,' or literally `knitted jacket'
-
If they had a half decent, good in the air stricker, we would be well in the poo by now.
But they don't which I assume was somewhat factored in when KM selected the squad. Touch wood, but the lads have done very well tonight.
-
hope we score against these now..
the way they acted about their fellow countryman....
-
fuck the ref
No thanks. Is that some 'island' thing?
No, a Welsh thing ;)
We use a broom.
-
Osbourne is that inept he managed to get his substitution wrong
-
Hope Weimann recovers soon.
-
Weimann for Albrighton
When did we get Shaun Maloney back on the roster?
In the squad ED, not roster. Basketball has Rosters, not our football ;)
-
Osbourne ::)
-
What happened to Weimann, I was out of the room?
-
now were in trouble.....Osbourne, Davies and Guzan all on same pitch at same time
-
Warnock has been fucking awful.
-
austrian cnuts !!
-
The thre

The Three Pub Musketeers
-

My bad ... hopefully our goalie Guzan can keep up the hyperblocks and the offense kicks it into gear, so this game doesn't go into extra innings.
-
Was impressed with their support, now i dislike them. How can you do that to a player leaving when 13?
-
I'm no fan of Osbourne. He claimed he wanted to be like his idol Patrick Viera. Lofty desires indeed.
Good luck kid, prove me wrong
-
In the squad ED, not roster. Basketball has Rosters, not our football ;)

Ref is awful.

What the fuck was wrong with that? Great clearing header!

Only in American sports parlance is a fumble a bad thing.

Another good ball into our box, thank God there shit in the air!

The ref is a fooking clown
-
K-Mac undefeated
did better than MON ;-))

That's the trouble. That's the sum of our ambition. Not to get beat and to nick a goal
-
That will do for me donkey!
-
1-1 with the team we put out away from home against a team that knocked us out last year, job done not a bad result even if the performance left a lot to be desired, we have a hell of a lot of players back for the game against the geordies on sunday refreshed and ready to go!
-
job done
.
That's the trouble. That's the sum of our ambition. Not to get beat and to nick a goal
I would have taken 1-1 with that team
-
Im pissed of at the ref. Proud of our players keeping their head. I would have done a sliding tackle studs high on the groin of the ref....
-
Dirty Evil Austrian Leeds 1 Villa Youth 1.
Excellent performance by the kids... waiting for UEFA to sweep their fans' behaviour under the carpet as usual.

Isn't that the ambition of most teams away in Europe, no matter who they are? Can't see why you have a problem, personally.

It's what most teams want from an away game in Europe.
-
Not to mention we aren't bringing a knackered, exausted 11 back in 3 days to try and beat Newcastle.

Because it is genuinely the best we could do.

damon, stunned by that comment to be honest. We achieved numerous goals tonight; the result, players rested, players/manager gaining valuable experience being just a few. It was the very epitomy of job done.

And then the best we'll be able to do next week is win the match and thus the tie. Again, where's the problem.
-
I don't understand how any Villa fan can be upset with that.
Job done & Advantage us

I am not in the mood for people rubbishing this performance. It was a good performance, but fu... by the ref (and the crowed that the ref obied by....)
-
Bring Dunne back in for Beye
Give Ireland a game...
maybe a run out for Gabby from fitness.....
3-0 Villa

I'd say good result, average performance. But ultimately all that matters is the result, so i'm happy.

Am I the only person who noticed that our avowed aim in this competition is to let reserve and youth team players get a game?
In that context, sure, 1-1 in Vienna is a great result. Crack open the champagne.
-
And fingers crossed Wiemann will be back quickly.
-
Happy with that thanks. We'll do them over good and proper next week.
-
Liverpool's line-up tonight is not exactly full strength i see.

Reserves and youth need games, to see If they are any good....
we drew, scored a goal.... on wards and upwards

Is anyone going to open the post match thread?
-
Good result from the lads, well done.
However KM has seriously gone down in my books. Why was EH allowed the start and then stay on the pitch for the whole match? It is getting beyond a fucking joke that this man is considered a footballer. He creates fuck all and IMO we would have won tonight if the balls wasted played to him were played to other players. It really is beyong the pale.
-
I started a post match thread because Risso's is locked. We should take our discussion there.

good to see Curtis getting a fair crack of the whip.
and demonstrating again why a rapid return to the championship for him would be in both his and our interests. Getting several million out of the baggies for him would be good business.
-
K-Mac explained why he left certain players behind, due to travelling for last weeks internationals.
He picked a team to get a result tonight, to set us up for next week. They have done that, next week, im sure we will have a stronger side out, and win 2/3-0.
As others have said, job done tonight.

It was hardly a difficult pass. It it was a difficult pass it wouldn't have happened. You can't seriously defend this player, he is total rubbish and will hold us back.

I'm sorry that is pathetic, heskey was one of the experienced player that KM put thoughout the team.
I too don't like smile but tonight was an ideal time too give him match minutes, remember a few injuries too say gabby n Carew and emile is all we have!

Your initial point was "he creates fuck all" I was simply pointing out he helped set up our goal. Like most of the side tonight, he played well in patches, and not in others.

Warnock and Davis competed for the worst player on the pitch award today. Davis has stagnated behind belief and Warnock was just about laziness itself. May be he thinks as a first choice LB he should have been left at home?
KM is lucky that he got away with a draw despite poor selections. He needs to make sure we pick a decent team next week to make sure we progress into the League stage.
-
The ref was abysmal. Absolutely shocking.
The back 4 looked ropey. It was slap dash, pieced together, but the best Macca felt we had I guess. I'm surprised Clark didn't play, but perhaps one eye is on the Toon encounter. Warnock in particular was shocking today. Woeful display. Perhaps tiredness, because he worked his nuts off and had a great game against the Hammers. Beye isn't a CB. Davies still falls asleep too often, and Lichaj is inexperienced, without the aid of a real leader like Dunney to help him through. Guzan still needs to reign himself in. He comes for everything, even when he has no right to. He's just a bit too kamikazee for my tastes.
Midfield was a little lightweight. Hogg went about his business quietly and effectively. Don't think there's much chance he'll make the grade. He'll end up a solid league 1-2 player. Championship if very lucky. Nigel was good today, particularly when he kept it simple. In the final 3rd you know he's not gonna do much when he's there. It's pretty much a given.
Bannan was good first half, then ran out of steam. But there's certainly enough potential there. I can see him being a decent squad player for us.
Albrighton was excellent again. Very positive and bust a gut. He ran himself into the ground. Downing had a good game too. Both players will need to score more goals though.
Heskey was poor. Nothing stuck to him. He showed no attacking adventure. The odd bit of decent hold up play, including the goal to be fair, paper over the cracks of what was another mediocre outing. Don't mean to get on him all the time, but like many others, it's just frustrating to watch him fall over so much and have a fear of being inside the 18 yrd box. Sell him, and buy a decent forward with some of the Milner cash. I hope Robbie K is still on the radar.
Overall though, considering the team, we gave a good account of ourselves. I think Kevin Mac has justified his selection, because the main men should be far fresher on sunday for the more pressing matter of the premier league. Their goal was lucky. To be fair they missed a couple of good chances, but we could have nicked a couple ourselves. Fair result on the day. Good result. With the big guns back, we can take this lot to the sword at Villa Park.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wanting him starting every game etc, but I just don't think he deserves the level of vitriol aimed at him.

Chris, I think anybody who comes on here should know that your last comment is more apt to a description of yourself. I had to laugh as others will no doubt do. If you look at my opening sentence I said well done the lads so not blind to a good result in Europe tonight. I am just sick of seeing EH in Villa shirt.

That's not remotely the aim
It may have been what a former employee said but i don't think you will hear KM or, for that matter, RL say that. KM stated why he had made those choices and I have to say that I agreed with him before kick off, with the possible exception of Luke Young, and now I am over the moon about them.
I just can't believe what I read on here sometimes - talk about fickle fans - one minute it is all about the kids deserve a chance then when they get one people start decrying the team selection. Which way do you want it?
Oh, and while I am on my soap box I would hope that I do not hear anything about not going to VP next week because "it will be a team of kids" or "well we've won it anyway" or the worst one of the lot, "it's on TV" - let's get VP full to the rafters and shout the lads home and show RL that we, as fans, are behind him and the club. By having a full house he might not have such a rigid view on needing to bring the wage bill down (not that I think it will be such an issue now anyway but that is another topic)

Bollocks Tone, you only have two opinions -"hate O'Neill" and "Heskey is shit". We all know his limitations but he did a job tonight when we needed a few older heads to help the kids out.

Well that is one more opinion than you have/had, which was "love MON".
We do indeed all know his limitations, the whole bloody world knows but he keeps getting games. Surely playing the Fonz or Wiemann would have been better.
-
Poor display - why oh why do we bother qualifying ?
OK, we may get through in the end, but ffs, we were inept.
Curtis Davies - I can see why our ex Manager left you at home.
