2nd leg of our tie against Rapid Vienna and Blues' League Cup game against Rochdale are both kicking off at 7.45pm.

is that right ? I always thought that the Europa cup matches were on a Thursday.

The first question that comes to my mind is why on earth would Sky pick small heath v Rochdale as their live game? Cant really describe it as an attractive fixture. Mind you it does deliciously illustrate the gulf between us and that shower of shite

Yep - Blues game has been moved to Thursday night as it is being shown on Sky. It is a strange match to pick, usually you want to have the underdog at home to enhance the chances of a shock.

They are. It appears the League Cup has Thursday matches now as well.

Theres already a thread open on this.

I can't believe that West Midlands finest are happy with this.

No problem. There is only going to be 5 and half thousand or so at the Sty...
Empty seats ma lord!

i emailed west midlands police earlier to tell them to "get their finger out and provide us with battons" :-)

And how many empty seats do you think we will have - i would not take the piss too much, they will be playing lower league team - we will be playing in European competition, something we worked hard for all year and against a decent side - we will struggle to get over 25K, especially as it will be on tv
-
Great!! Can we now kick off at 3.00 on a Saturday against them as well?

They are happy as this means good workout for their new intakes!

Couldn't imagine to many 'noses being bothered with Rochdale.
Nothing will go off.
-
I don't mind SHA playing on the same night as Villa. Its WBA playing at the same time that screws up my drive home

25k would be a good gate IMO

Why have Sky chosen Blose against Rochdale?

Why have Sky chosen Blose against Rochdale?
They sense a giant killing, can't see it myself I think Rochdale will go through.

Very good.

How far apart from Villa Park and Small Heath Rubbish tip.
-
Was going to go to the Europa game, will give it a miss as I park at Coventry and get train. New St will be a fooking mare of a place. ITV4 it is then, the cubs don't need to see the genetic experiments on the rampage!
-
I was planning to go on the train but that will involve getting off at Moor Street and walking to New Street. Going won't be a problem but waiting on Moor Street coming back might be a problem.
-
FFS you lot, I've been in town many times when they are at home. You hardly notice.
-
yea a few villa fans and a lot of blouses scattered about dont make a prob, but when there is lots of villa fans and bluses scattered about , thats when there will be trouble

You mean like there was last time we played together on the same day? And the time before, and the time before that? It happens regularly, every time knickers get in a twist and every time it passes off peacefully.
-
I predict the apocalypse. The 25,000 at Villa vs Rapid Vienna plus the 17 at Blose v Rochdale will surely bring about the end of civilisation. Nobody in Small Heath will notice.

Agreed. I recall it happening a couple of season ago and it was no big deal.
The only problem for me is I drive past the Rags' dump on the way to Villa Park, so will have a little extra traffic to contend with on the Small Heath highway.
-
I would imagine there will be quite a few villa fans held up behind the convoy of Sty bound caravan towing transits on the small heath highway.
-
Didn't we play Bilbao (near capacity) when they were at home? There were no problems that night and Bilbao probably brought more fans than will be at the sty.
-
FFS you lot, I've been in town many times when they are at home. You hardly notice.
It's embarrasing that some of our fans will miss our game because Blues are playing at home as well.
Anyway, apart from the fact that we'll have a bigger attendance, a much higher percentage of Villa fans travel through Town on their way to/from games than Blues fans do.
When was the last time we played at home on the same day?
-
I cannot see there being any problems. I will coming back home into Digbeth after and have done before with no bother. Most of our fans do not look for or want trouble to occur, and the same goes for most of their fans. I have gone into Digbeth pubs after going to an away game and when they have been at home and managed to survive just fine. The gurning gangs of idiots tend to group up for certain games like when we play each other. Bet I get beaten up now I have said that!
-
I'm not expecting us to have a great crowd tonight but is it true that Blues are only opening 2 stands tonight?
-
tis-the kop (sic) and the tilton.
