Is it just me being a bleeding heart liberal or is anyone else slightly offended by the advert on the front page of Pravda with Ashley Young facing down a bull in a bullring? For a club that gave our shirts to sick kids for two years it's a bit of a contrast...
-
I thoght that was a bit much.
-
Seriously?
-
Pravda?
-
Pravda = the Villa Official Site.
-
The Bull would only have to get within 6 feet of Ash and he'd be diving..
-
It's a bit of fun. Lighten up.
-
What bit am I supposed to be offended by?

I don't know, I thought the spectacle of an animal being tortured by men with swords was obvious enough?
-

Yes, the bulls think it's hilarious.

I find bullfighting offensive. Not a picture of Ashley Young in a bullring, without a sword.

So did Ashley Young actually slaughter this bull then?
-
Can see what you mean about it being in bad taste but I'm not the slightest bit bothered by it.
Thought it was just a poor advertisement tbh
-
I don't see what's offensive about Ash in a shopping centre.

Depends what he's doing there I suppose. Hopefully he's not there to purchase a new webcam.

Dave you are the funniest poster ever :)

If the advert showed Ash plunging a sword into the bull's spinal chord then I might agree. I think that bull fighting is a pretty appalling spectacle and I'm pleased that the Catalans are banning it, but the use of the bull here is merely a bit of 'Spanish' imagery. Nothing offensive, nothing violent, just imagery albeit somewhat predictable.
If they had used a piece of chorizo sausage instead then I suspect all of the vegans would take the opportunity to be outraged. In a country where we have an astronomical financial debt, our civil liberties have been eroded in recent years, the gap between rich and poor is the most for generations and that is heading for an energy crisis, you chose to be offended by a photograph of a bull! If you want to look for problems, why don't you at least make them worthwhile ones?
-
fucking hell, I suppose the name of the bullring offends you aswell. And black shirts this year, racist or what?
-

They're just dumb animals. I hadn't thought anything about it but certainly not offended by it.
-
Just had a quick look to see what all the hullaballoo was all about.
I can't believe that people find the image offensive but then I guess its a case of different strokes for different folks.
-
All advertising is obnoxious and offensive to me. But it does show what a pathetic rabble a lot of the Western world is.
However, I love the TV series "Mad Men".
-
I find Emile Heskey offensive even without a bull.

We should just have photos of Christina Hendricks' tits on our shirts. It'd take our minds off the football.
I know what you're going to do now.

This is the world's greatest coincidence ever (well, it isn't, because you alerted me of the availability of said shirts) but I too am currently wearing a t-shirt with the figure of a red headed office manager on it.
-
Are people actually offended by this? Good grief.
-
Dont worry about it, the Valencia website is promoting the game with images of fox hunting.
I guess it is a bit politically incorrect. How about changing it to maybe a picture of Andrew Sachs as Manuel the waiter?
-

I'm sure you're not the only scented wet wipe.

Yes, it is

Any one on this site ever eat a hamburger?? god i hope not, cows get killed you know. you know those animals that help us .........hang on arnt they bred to eat?????????? get a life and brighten up, offensive my arse.
-
I think there are one too many on here who take great pleasure in being offended by anything and everything. But animals deserve respect and I think Bull "fighting" is complete bollocks and should be outlawed.
But as for the advert, they obviously just wanted something typically Spanish and so there you go, bullfighting it is. The advert would have been less effective if Ashley was facing down an Orange or being unable to develop the property he'd just bought.
And yes, it's a shit advert.
-
AS the kids would write...OMG.

Do you want to read the whole thread? Most of us don't find it offensive.
Although slaughtering a bull for fun, is different to breeding cattle for food.

Well in that case I blame Gareth Barry. Had he not buggered off he could have been on the advert facing down a paella.
-
Is this PC gone mad?

Pravda = the Villa Official Site.
Ok, am I missing something?
-
Pravda was/is the official news agency/paper in Russia that told any story how they wanted the people to hear it - mother russia and all
-

If you wanted something typical of Valencia, the paella is the answer.
Tag lines could include:
Tickets only 15 squid
See Ashley's new Mussels
A rice day out for all the family
Nah, the bullfighting was probably the best option.
-
Could have been worse, it could have been Nicky Shorey throwing a donkey out of a clock tower.
-
Insert Emile Heskey gag here.
-

That would have been the opposite of worse in every way.
-
I'd like to know what donating money to Acorns has to do with Bullfighting?
-
Linus, if that is what you find offensive, i suggest you steer well clear of Villa Park next season.
(If i hadn't read this thread myself i would have said it was a wind up).

Or our Ash spitting out a hair from his bacon rind?
-
We do need to beef up our strikeforce.
Otherwise I can't see how could we fans steak it.
We need another sauce of goals on top of what we've got.
Era of victory is baconing, but first we've cotelette some deadwood go.

It's also a fairly hip bar in Dublin though the prices there aren't too proletariat-friendly.
