Have you renewed your season ticket ?
With just 3 weeks to go until the season starts, and I can't wait myself ... !
I am wondering how many ST holders from last dseason have renewd.
We have a) a crap economy at the moment and b) reputedly, our best player about to leave to a 'cobsiderably richer than yow' football club and c) we haven't signed a new player yet !!
-
What's a season tocket?
-
Yup. Last payment goes out on 1st August. Thank god for the Easy Payment Scheme.
-
Still half an Ansells that the club no longer reward renewing fans with a small discount but £880 for four season tockets is an absolute bargain!
-
Yes, our 4 are all done and dusted.
-
Not renewed after having ST for past 6 years...totally lost interest in football after the world cup showing, and with Chelsea, Man City etc. ripping the soul out of the sport.
Perhaps if it ever gets back to a decent level playing field may show some interest again...sky sports has also done one too !
-
No.
After umpteen years.
-
my best mate has bought 2 season tickets since 1991 for him and his GF. But as the years have gone by , I have used her ticket more than she has . Hes well off , so I normally get the petrol, food and the Beers etc.
Hes not renewing ;-C
-
No.
I will go to at least 10 games, though I'm not going to commit myself to that shower of shite.
-
I've renewed
-
SOTC & I have.
-
Yes, but at the last minute .....really did think twice. As things have transpired in the transfer market, I really regret doing so. Wish I'd saved my £495.00. It will be same old, same old I'm afraid.
-
I`ve renewed, I dont have the option.
If my season ticket had to be injected into my arm using a dirty needle, Id still have to take it.

Totally agree I have reniewed but maybe for the last time
-
I renewed mine back in May. I'm really not that bothered about the start of the season i'm losing more and more interest as each season passes it's just not the game I used to love anymore.
-
Yep, 3 of us have...moved from Lower North to Cenrtal Lower Holte. Cant wait for Valencia to test them out
-
No but for non-footballing reasons. However I'm not too bothered because of footballing reasons.
-
nope... moved to devon so cant afford it or justify the 400 mile round trip...
although tbh, even if i hadnt moved away, i am not sure i would haver renewed... football is a farcical joke these days and whoever has the most money makes the game predictable and boring... they also get the best referees, the best decisions from the rule makers, and are all pandered to, as they make wankers with no interest in fair play and competition, far too much money....
if i wanted to watch boring predictable bollocks, then i would go and watch formula one or wresting....
football is so far detatched from what i fell in love with, so for me, i am sadly walking away from such passionate support of football, and merely watching from afar...
-
Yep, paid with that installment scheme which helped with the finances.
-
Yes, but I have realised that I've renewed out of habit more than anything else. I have a bad feeling about the forthcoming season and I'm not completely sure I want to be there to witness it.
-
It was a tough call, I did not renew for various reasons and one of them was the dull predictable football. However Mrs H, forced me to do it and so I have renewed christ knows why.
Even the social side was crap last year.
I think ';ll be going to the Black Eagle match days and be a johnny no mates Although The Lord Clifden is a good second choice.
Ah well I'm going to be a miserablist 50 year old this season
-
I think the Man Citeh effect is truly hitting Villa fans due to Milnergate.
Still, 81% ( at the moment) is a good return !

yeah agreed plus the all the hype of these so called premiership stars that faded so badly in the World cup hasnt helped. I dont know the answer but somethings got to be done to sort out the mess
-
I renewed last month or so. Might consider relocating.
-
No. Last season at home was generally poor and very frustrating for teh second year on the trot. This coupled with our usual slow start in the transfer window have made the thought of a season ticket unappealing.
But the main reason to be honest is the lack of Saturday 3pm games. I ve never liked Sunday games and we will have a lot this season. I may well consider a half season ticket if and when the reserves are out of Europe.
And I apologise for my negativity at such an early stage but I really am a bit "meh" at the moment with the one true love of my life!!

My feelings exactly, Karlos. Likewise I renewed in May - more out of habit than anything else. I've posted elsewhere about how I'm getting disillusioned with the game especially at PL level. For the first time in nearly 30 years instead of getting excited about the start of the season, I just feel......meh

I'm glad it's not just me.
-
I wouldn't even bother with a free ST......
-
No, due to financial reasons but I am not certain I would have renewed anyway.
Totally disillusioned with top flight football at the moment, not helped by Man Shitty and the prima-donnas of the England side. Will probably watch more non-league football this season, its easier to watch as I don't care so much!

I'm the same. I also renewed in May but really a big part of it is the social aspect - there are certain friends I'd hardly ever see if it wasn't for football.
-
Yes.
Easy payment scheme.
-
Will use my brothers one until he gets back from his around the world trip, then I'll buy a half one from Xmas.
-
I wonder how many Last Evers we've sold.
-
I wonder how many Last Evers we've sold.
Most of them might be.
-
I've renewed. Struggled to find the cash this year.
I just hope it is more enjoyable than it has been for the last two seasons. If it is more of the same (and it is the sheer predictability of it as much as the crap football) then there's no way ill renew next year if the same manager is there
It costs so much these days that I can't justify it out of loyalty and habit. It has to be enjoyable too.
For two seasons, it hasn't been. Not very much anyway.
-
I renewed, I put the money aside last year for it. I could have done with that money, I've had to pay adult prices for the first time this year (although I get £25 student discount), so it was hard to make such a jump.
-
Packed in mine last year, I attended about 7 games, I watched most on TV. I wasn't encouraged enough to renew this time either
-
I've renewed. I'll finish paying for it the day after the new season starts.
Hope that we're a bit better at home this time. Seemed to struggle to break teams down last season.
-
I have - but I seem to have lost all interest recently.
I'd just like some glimmer of hope for the new season.
-
Still not...yet. It's hard knowing I haven't got a seat for the first time in 17 years.
-
My season card came today, I thought the club said we were reusing last years ones?
-
I renewed back in April on the easy payment scheme but to be honest, i prefer the away games.
-
No. I’ve been a season ticket holder since the late 80’s all bar one season in the mid-90’s due to work commitments and another season under O’Leary where I just had enough.
This time however I am not renewing because of a combination of feeling very frustrated with the manager and completely disillusioned with the game in general.
There were too many times last season when travelling to Villa Park felt more of a chore than the excitement it used to provide me with. I need something to get excited about again, trouble is I cannot see it happening.
No doubt I will attend my fair share of games, but I’m not sure how many of them I will actually enjoy watching.

Feeling exactly the same.
We've renewed but have absolutely no enthusiasm about it whatsoever.

Totally agree with everything that you have said. I wish O'Neill had fucked off to Liverpool. I wish they banned all foreign players from our game, kicked out Sky and reduced the prices altogether. A nasty shock is on its way for the game in this country and the greedy bastards who sponge off it.
-
Yep renewed and this year got the two kids a season ticket
had to move to family stand though due to cost
They are so excited they keep checking the post to see if they have arrived.
Just wish i felt the same ...:-(
-
I spent my season ticket money on one of these:

much better investment that watching martins tactical ineptness at work.
-
I've renewed, but without much enthusiasm. You certainly can't complain about the cost if, like me, you're an OAP, but perhaps I won't be making the journey from Sussex as regularly as in the past if our play is as dull and unimaginative as last season. That said, I've always travelled to Villa Park hopefully and I suspect that, come August 14th, the excitement and anticipation will overcome the doubts.

Really Pauline ....?
Jeez, I do wish Gen K and Co., knew what the true fans were thinking and stopped hyping up everything.
-
^^^^^
Yes really.
I'm not going to Walsall tonight. We are going to Portugal though, more for the craic than the football, although I'm hoping the football will rekindle the love of football. Somehow I don't think it will.

If you look at those comments Tim, the first one made specific reference to the PL and the second one agreed with that so I would assume the root of the problem to be more the league itself than the club. If either of the posters feel otherwise, please say so.
I think more and more people are fed up with the hype, the ridiculous sums, the arrogance of the players, their continued and increased distance between them and the fans etc etc etc
I think RL and his team are doing everything they can in spite of the increased dissatisfaction with what the league has become and the ME ME ME I want it NOW NOW NOW of modern-day society. But that's just my take on it.
-
For me it's all those things plus my dislike of the current style of football we play and Mon's dithering in the transfer market.
-
On here we are older/more cynical. Maybe the young people will still be as excited as we once were.

The thing is, all the other horrible things about Premier League football (and there are plenty), Villa alone can do pretty much nothing about.
We can't absolve ourselves of responsibility, because we've got our snouts in the PL trough as much as the next club has.
We are a part of the problem(s), but if anything is going to change, it has to happen collectively.
Having said that, personally I'd find it a lot easier to put up with the slightly dirty feeling of spending so much money on a "concept" which is, in many ways, sordid, if I felt that the quality of football was there.
I've renewed, but I'm not looking forward to it much. Another season of home grimness and I won't bother again.
Not just because of the grim football, but that would be the straw that broke the camel's back.
