Quote
West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has told Aston Villa to forget about signing midfielder Scott Parker ahead of the new season.
The Midlands club are reported to have made a tentative enquiry should they be forced to sign a new midfielder if Manchester City transfer target James Milner leaves Villa Park this summer.
However, Sullivan claims that Villa would not have enough financial muscle to persuade him to sell the 29-year-old England international.
Parker was one of few Hammers players who impressed during a difficult last season which almost ended in relegation from the Premier League.
"The situation with Parker has not changed," said Sullivan. "Villa will not have enough money to tempt us to sell Scott.
"He really is not for sale."

I now have a strong feeling we'll conclude a £5million deal for Parker.

Can't think why.

So he is not for sale, and we can't afford him anyway, so why is old gherkin face banging on about it again? I think they will sell, however I am not sure that he will be worth what they want.

To be fair all he's saying is that it'll cost the type of money that would embarrass Man City for them to sell parker.

sounds like someone trying to set up an auction

end of last season they were broke, now they have brought a few so they have to ship some out but not before they fooled people into buying season tickets.

Cor, what a canny player in the transfer market he is, eh? Now we're bound to offer £50m for Parker just to prove a point, thereby unwittingly falling for Sullivan's crafty ruse!!!

Sounds like we made an enquiry a while back and haven't been in contact since. Sullivan sounds a bit desperate.

Don't want him.

Even if Milner goes, we'll still have NRC and Petrov to do the defensive stuff.

Let's sign Ireland instead and have a bit more creativity in the middle.

Sullivan will not be talking to Randy/MON here, or to other clubs.  He could get an agent to do that for him far more cogently.

He is talking to his supporters.  First he said everyone is up for sale but Parker, then someone might come in with an offer too big to refuse.  Now, this silly remark.

Next it will be, 'We had to sell him because the shit demanded to go and we were offered a shed load of money'.

I suspect it will be an undisclosed fee.

I don't get the big deal with Scott Parker, never been that impressed with him.  Is it because he was on the McDonalds advert as a kid doing kick-ups?

No he is a good player.  Always keeps the ball, reads a game well can tackle, pass and scores the odd goal.  Not spectacular but a really good holding midfielder and could be in the next England squad.

Like Parker, and I 've liked him for a while.

Similar to Petrov, but with a better engine, more tenacity and more willing to drive forward.

But I have a feeling Sullivan is highlighting any tentative interest/ enquiry from us to improve his (already pretty piss poor) standing with the West Ham faithful: "Big clubs came knocking, but we held firm and said no."

Go fcuk yourself, you smut peddling dwarf.

Again like Keane someone we should've brought years ago.

Parker's industrious, box to box...sounds like someone we brought from West Ham 3 years ago.

Is he really going to create much? Or turn us into top 4?

Really can't see it.

I'm begining to think that Pertov has served his purpose, so a player of Pakers irk maybe even more important.

And how might signing a player who is like Petrov but only 1 year younger going to do that?

Won't we need to replace him within a season or so? There's plenty of younger midfielders around.

Is it bad i now have respect for the pornodwarf? (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/8863062.stm)

"I made a promise that I would not sell Scott and I will not, for any amount of money, break that promise to the West Ham supporters," he said.

"Scott is not for sale at any price, to anyone. West Ham supporters, for far too long, have had owners that sell their best players and promise one thing and do another.

"This is a new era. We are building a bigger, better West Ham and when we make a promise, we honour it."

Why can't we do this for Milner?

Yeah right. How many times did Sullivan go back on his word when he was at the Sty? Practically every time from what I recall, and all he's doing here is trying to bump the transfer fee up as high as he can for Parker.
I can't believe there are still people out there that fall for Sullivan's bullshit.

tottingham hotspuds bid was around 7 mil and parker wants to talk to them, apparently...

expect a comment along the lines of "he is a triffic player, i like him a lot, but he is west hams player, so nothing is happening on that one at the moment" any day now...

Arsenal

Manchester all-stars
Villa
Liverpool

anyone from that 7 then.

And I can't stand the fact that having failed to get given a brand spanking new ground in Birmingham, they've returned to London and have manoeuvred themselves into a position whereby they will gain control of the Olympic Stadium.

Was foolishly listening to Talk Shite the other night and the two London hacks were droning on about how the right thing to do was let Wet Sham have the ground because football's great and athletics would only make use of it on about 4 occasions each year.

If Wimbledon LTC were to be built nowadays, I suspect they'd be arguing the same thing and how that should be made available to football too. I've long fallen out of love with 'the game' (i.e. the business) in this country. Only my love of Villa remains.

S & G must think WH fans are stupid.

As a matter of interest, do they think they will be given the Olympic Stadium?  What are they going to buy/lease it with?  Pearly buttony things?  WHU are so broke S&G could only afford half the debt so where in Gods name are they going to get the dosh from?

Sullivan is trying to organise an auction through the media.

As Redknapp said, it was him who told the press Spurs had bid, he just wants to put Parker in a position where he has to request the transfer, and thus Wham! make more dough.

Anyone thick enough not to see this after having spent years watching how he constantly played those dipshits down the road renders themselves open to ridicule.

I think he is just positioning himself so that when Parker says he wants to go he has an alibi for the WH fans.

It get's better and better...

Quote

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan is ready to break his public promise to Hammers fans and cash in on star man Scott Parker.
Sullivan insisted last week that the midfield ace was not for sale "at any price", but talkSPORT understands he has now changed his stance and is prepared to listen to big offers for the former Charlton, Chelsea and Newcastle star.
That news will alert Liverpool and Tottenham, who have both been linked with Parker in the past week and will need no encouragement to turn that interest into firm bids.
The Upton Park club will be looking for a fee of around £10million for the 29-year-old, but money in the bank won't appease Hammers fans, who face the prospect of seeing another crowd favourite sold just days before the start of the new Premier League season.
Former West Ham assistant manager Steve Clarke admitted to talkSPORT: "I think he'll stay, and I know he appreciates the club and the fans.
"But you never know, if someone comes in with a crazy bid it may be a better option for West Ham to sell him."
