Went in the City centre club shop today and saw our new training gear.
It's Purple !!!!
Good old traditional ..... Purple ?!?!

Are you really surprised? Everything about our club is rubbish at the moment! A manager who's gone in to hiding,no signings (nothing new there then),purple training gear............roll on the start of the season!!

Everything about our club is rubbish? If you're talking about the Shit down the road as "your" club then you are 100% correct. If you're talking about Villa then you're talking complete and utter bollocks.

My Everton supporting Scouse mate always used to try and wind me up and try and tell me Villa actually wore "Pear-pull and Blue." He didnt have much else to try and wind me up about at the time as we won match after match against them.

tbh ive seen them and think they look nice.. like others have said its only training gear & tracksuits if you dont like them then its simple dont buy them, your going to far about saying everything about our club is rubbish

It's a disgrace, bring back Ellis. At least under Doug we had a purple home shirt to match the training gear.

Not too keen on the t shirt but nothing wrong with having a varied range of casual wear in different colours.
The tracky top is quality though.
As for the everything's rubbish with our club quote, what a strange remark.

Not a fan myself of it myself, but really, there are only so many claret and blue tshirts people are going to want to buy, it makes sense to vary the merchandise.

My reaction would be so what! Last season's track suit was a dark blue but I heard no comment on that.
To the OP: if they kept all the kit the same year on year they would sell very little - who would want to buy another shirt when already have one exactly the same?
As for everything is rubbish - well last season we were 2 games short of winning a cup. In the league cup I am fairly sure that there were 90 other teams who would have liked to take our place. As for the FA cup, I'm not sure how many teams contest it but well over 100 and we made it to the last four.

Love the jacket. but please Randy the one thing you have done wrong since your arrival is turn us into AVFC. We are ASTON VILLA. All the other nike clubs have the same jacket, with their proper name on the back so why not us!!!

That trackie top is nice but there seriously was a wall full of varied purple gear and no other colour.
My point really was, when did we have a deep purple as our most dominant colour ? Never. Any other comments are from others going off on a tangent !

We had black fashion clothing last year, now we have one thats purple, and quite reasonable too. I dont recall black having much to do with Villa either.

Not overkeen on the purple but it's all about variation, as a post said earlier, if you don't like it then don't buy it.
I'm waiting to see what the new black away kit is like,but it's good the club provides fashion and training wear in a variety of colours .

That tracksuit top is fucking awesome. I'm not normally in to buying them, but I'm seriously tempted.
I got one a few days back. Obviously they didn't have my size (XL) at VP so got it on line.
It is brill and I can't wait 'till autumn to wear it with 501's and some sambas.

I love the blue one. Im not the sort of person who buys the shirts and other tops very often, being a rock god. But it doesnt stop me buying my 5 year old one which I can admire when he wears it...

It's odd because I remember a few of us being annoyed when our badge changed to Aston Villa and dropped the FC a few years back when we became a plain old PLC.
What I think the new regime has tried to do is draw attention to the fact that we are once again, primarily a football club. I prefer AVFC to Aston Villa (silent) PLC personally.

They both look fine. Particularly like the jacket but would wear the polo too. Btw. I wonder what a woman would say re. the colour of the polo top....My mum always rebuked me and dad for not realising that it was mauve or violet not purple.....

I may just order that purple polo shirt. Think it looks great myself. £30 is a bit pricey for a cheapskate like me though.

Yes, we are Aston Villa. That's what the A V stands for. See also: banners and flags around the ground and other sporting events with AVFC proudly emblazoned on it.
Of course, I'd like to go back to a version of the round badge with Aston Villa FC on it but I can understand why they've gone with it on the new badge as you can make it bigger with just 4 letters. Plus, the fans use the abbreviation a lot.

I really like the purple top. It's the Gnu's Gonads.
I like the training gear being a bit different, the purple is a good choice because it doesn't look like any other teams kit. The red training gear from last season always looked a bit odd with the Villa badge, i always thought it looked a bit Arsenal.
The Lion rampant in a neutral colour looks great, it certainly looks better than the official club badge.
Although i don't like the AVFC, it is very instantly recognisible, i would imagine all Bristol City fans would welcome such a unique acronym.

I've said this in the "nothing of the new kit" thread. I think they look nice. The purple polo doesn't phase me, and the new track-top is superb!
Very original and very different.
Not usually in to buying the tracksuit stuff, but I might be seriously considered with this.
FYI, new training tops are also out - and pre-match tshirts.

The tracky tops remind me of the early 70s Vic Crowe era tracksuits which I loved. They're the cricket's middle wicket alright.

I love the purple style - looks like it's the trendy color of everything in the last couple of years. The good thing is my home town team is playing in purple, so I guess I'd get an extra few items from the shop this year.

The badge on the tracksuit is excellent as worn in the 71/72 promotion season.
Should use it on the playing shirts.
