The bit in bold. Eh? and Oh no!
-
Yep, that's exactly what I'm expecting. More of the bloody same. That is why I’ve not bothered renewing.

How many we sold so far?
dont know but if we sell milner and ashley my two tickets will be going back or up for sale to the highest bidder - more of the same eh?
Returning home up the M6 after games at Villa Park was a sullen affair and not because we were returning to Merseyside !

Complete agreement, i sympathise man, thought it was bad enough travelling back to Exhall especially at night with blinking roadworks practically doubling the journey time---but to Merseyside, gee you must have been frustrated at times,----MON needs to read this we must start performing and picking up 3 points at V.P.

There are people who spent all last season watching Crewe and Macclesfield who will be renewing their season tickets this summer. Mind you, they don't have road works up there.
-
Here's an interesting one:-
Haven't renewed yet as I had a holiday and bought a new car, so I was intending to fork it all out at end of July payday. The 'mini EPS' appeals to me, but although open to new purchasers until August 11, it seems to be closed to existing ST holders like me from June 30. Will I be able to use it?
-
I'm not renewing after 10 years of season tickets..due to the fact I was bored more often than not at home games wishing the game to end !
It also has something to do with the shambles of sitting through Englands campaign and seeing overpaid underachievers.
Cancelled Sky too !!!
Impressed lol !?!

I haven't ....yet. As just got married with honeymoon has completly left me skint. I missed 5 games last season as I live t'other end of the country - mid-week games, not fun trying to get out of work and driving 110 miles, if they were all Sat games - no problem. However, I'm sure I can get tickets on the day if I don't get one. It's tough, it will be 1st time in 18 years if I don't....

I hope you renew. My late father told me after I got married to keep the season ticket up as a priority even if money was short. Otherwise its the slippery slidey slope, he said, to MOTD in the dark on yer own, and your kids will be manure fans.
So when the time came and I was a bit skint with a newborn, did he pay for my season ticket.....did he bollox ! In fact on the rare occasion I made it that season he would ask me how it was in the "cheap seats". I do miss the silly old sod.
-
I've renewed but no enthusiasm for the season at all. I've already got to miss the Blues, Manu and Everton games for various weddings/birthdays and weekends away, and I'm not really that bothered.
-
I have renewed as well, but out of blind loyalty/habit more than anything else. I really can't see how we can improve on last year's achievements unless we radically invest in the team. And by that I mean £40m +

I have been wondering how far away from taking this course of action I am.
It will be like having a new pension but it may be dangerous to change a way of life I have been accustomed to. I reckon the Europa Cup will have an influence on the decision, having to play every Thursday night and all the expense that comes with it.

I can't see me shelling out for that garbage Europa league nonsense

At least it didn't cost much last season.
Mind you, the season before I did all the home games and, though I agreed with MON on Moscow, I wasn't going to run the same risk the following season. Our early bath made that decision pretty much irrelevant, though.
I will probably do it this season, though. I'm working a couple of miles away so weekday matches are just another small trip rather than an 80 mile round trip, which makes the decision easier. And I do enjoy night games.

andrew08 - Great post. Exaclty how my late father got me me hooked when I was a nipper.

I think there is a lot of truth in that and it wont just be the Villa it will have an effect on.
I don't get that bothered about how much England achieve but when you see the amounts that these so called superstars earn week in week out and produce such poor performances it can't help but make you feel less bothered about the whole thing.
By the start of the season I will have forgotten all about the world cup and will be hoping just like every year we will do something great and I will be there to witness it.
-
I renewed ages ago.
Firstly, so I didn't change my mind, as I knew that once I did, it'd be hard to change it back again. Secondly, as the interest free option had an early deadline.
Well done, the club, though, it makes it a lot more palatable than 550 quid out of your account in one hit.

Cheers Vilan 461.. on top of all that I was made redundant last week ... now wait for all those jibes about scousers with no job...Over to you Mazrim :)
-
FWIW I think ST's are good value, but I found myself going to VP at the end of last season because I have a season ticket - i.e. I wouldn't have gone if I had to pay the £39 it costs .....
Football fans are easy bait I reckon.

I know what you mean mate, the only thing that kept me going was we were doing better than both of the scouse shite! At least i managed to avoid the M6 by getting the train back, at least i could enjoy a drink on the way home. I havent renewed yet after 10 years but il probably change my mind when the season is about to start. I think im just a bit dissulisioned with the game, as we being told to cut back in our everyday life but the price of football keeps going up and up.
-
My sentiments VOTM entirely renewed at the death
after the daughter badgered me all week end but i do wonder why and with the round trip to Taff Land as well.
Come on MON show some intent and get some players in now.
-
Hi Im a fan since 1959 Ive just brought my first season ticket and Im really chuffed Ill have to travel from north wales but you cant have everything
-
Where in North Wales Tony ???
-
22,000 tickets sold so far according to the video on the Villa website
-
I've not renewed yet because I haven't had the money/inclination, despite the club reminding me on a seemingly daily basis. I'm sure I will though.
-
I got mine a while ago, but we need some activity of the positive variety in the transfer market to sell out.
22k sold ?? - Can't believe that myself.
-
Haven't had a season ticket in a while, won't be getting one straight away as have a wedding to go to on the day of the West Ham game and am at Reading festival the weekend of the Everton game so as it stands Stoke away will be our first away game of 10/11.
Might get a half season ticket this season though as they're decent value and you get dibs on cup final tickets if we make it again.

No, not at all. I was making a wider comment about how clubs need their fans.
My mate is a Crewe ST holder, when they sold Dean Ashton they were just outside the play off places in the Championship. They spent most of last season in the bottom half of League 2, if people like him stopped going because of it then we'd have a lot of clubs go out of business.
So my point was that if everyone took the view that they'd stop watching on account of a lack of success or selling players then the game would die. If people aren't enjoying going then it's quite right that they pack it in but if everyone took that approach there'd be no club left for them to come back to if they change their minds in the future.
-
Last time I almost didn't get one was a few years ago before Randy took over, the club was going nowhere and the manager was awful. Felt the club didn't give a f*ck so why should. Then it all changed...

It's a good point.
But every club has it's die-hards who will be there no matter what, in fact for many who support the likes of Darlington, Crewe, Grimsby etc. it's a sort of fatalistic, oh bugger, can't think of the word, you know what I mean, that keeps them going. At Tamworth we can rely on about 500-600 through the turnstiles no matter how shit we are.
Villa need more than the die-hards though, especially if they want to compete towards the top of the Premier League, Lerner can't afford to get complacent just because the crowds have held up pretty well in his time here.

This.
I remember sitting in a pub in late May really pissed off with O'Dreary and the way Villa were heading in general and then ""gods gift to football management"" fucked off to be replaced by Martin and then Herbert sells to Randy.
It has had it's ups and downs but overall I'm enjoying the ride.

Worked out well for me that as loads never renewed. Moved from row 23 in the Upper Holte to Row 6 and now have cracking seats!
-
I couldn't renew this time last year as I had other financial commitments and simply couldn't afford it. The plan was to then get a half season at Christmas, which is what I did, but for those few months when I wasn't going, even though I got a few games on mates tickets and buying the odd one, it just felt...............wrong. Worse thing was watching us at home when we were on the box - that ws just weird!!
-
Renewed, we've a group of 6 and only one other of us has renewed.
One will renew when he gets round to it, just hope we don't have to move!

I'm with you on that John, absolutely nothing beats that old ground and actually being there.
My Grandad stood on the Holte, my late father stood on the Holte and I stand/sit in the Holte.
you can't beat it.

Meaning Evil reckons Villa are confident of getting up to 28,000?

Anyone remember the 'waiting list' of a couple of years ago?

This.
We moved from Row NN to Row AA (front row) of the Witton Lane stand for the same reason.
What was even more remarkable was the fact I remembered to ring up and do it 1/3 of the way through TimVilla's stag do.
-
I can't see a point where we will ever require a waiting list.
-
Did anyone else get a phone call asking why they haven't renewed? The woman (forgot her name) sounded shocked when i told her the football is boring.
-
And we used to take the piss out of Newcastle and their supporters deluded dislike of boring football whilst we have the best run of results and finishing places in over a decade.
But in reality mate, it's your cash and you have to spend it as you see fit.

I've renewed. watched Villa regularly for 42 years, had a season ticket for18 years. And the football is boring. As you get older , the way you win increases in importance. Its the best football that is remembered.
-
I can't see a point where we will ever require a waiting list.
Certainly not when the club extends the ground.
Villa's ST's are well priced in comparison to many other top clubs, so it's got to be due to the football being played and the lack of real star players.
Many Villa fans still want a very good reason to commit, and at the moment, they can't find one so will cherry pick their games.

That ignores the facts.
Our crowds are the best they've been since the war.
-
I know it'll be mostly cack, but you never know for sure do you?
Remember those League Cup threads where countless people rued not having a season ticket?
Personally, a month is too long to wait for the new season.

I know, but I feel that while increasing VP to 52k will be great, we will have a lot of 'empty seats my Lord' -- and I know many Villa fans who are still waiting to spend on an ST and commit to a whole season of support.
WE're getting there in Randy's way I think.
