Title: Pre-season 2026
Post by: kippaxvilla2 on June 02, 2026, 01:16:13 PM
Does anyone know the schedule yet?  I quite fancy taking in a couple of games.  The one on the 12th August is going to be difficult to get tickets for I suspect.

This is what we know so far. https://www.heroesandvillains.info/forumv3/index.php?topic=66653.0

I saw some rumours online a while back of an away game at Ibrox, but nothing concrete.

Yes not confirmed yet and rumoured due to Audi links sponsorship with us.

“For this year's season opener, the club has secured an opponent that finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Europa League: Aston Villa is experiencing its best run of form in decades. On August 15th at 3:30 PM, the club from Birmingham, England's second-largest city, will visit Borussia-Park.

The date hasn't been officially announced yet, but it's already listed on fussball.de. A week earlier, Aston Villa will be in Asia, facing Bayern Munich in Hong Kong on August 7th. There are rumors that Audi will become the shirt sponsor of the English team, the car manufacturer is a shareholder in Bayern Munich, and a co-sponsor of Borussia Mönchengladbach.”

Aston Villa is pleased to announce the addition of two friendly matches to the club’s pre-season schedule.

Unai Emery’s Europa League winners will head to Walsall, for what has become a traditional fixture to mark the start of pre-season, on Tuesday, July 21 with kick-off at 7.30pm at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.

Before the Premier League begins, Villa will also travel to Germany to face Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, August 15. Kick-off at Borussia-Park will be at 3.30pm local time, against a Gladbach side who finished 12th in last season’s Bundesliga.

The club have already confirmed a pre-season showpiece fixture with Bayern Munich in Hong Kong on Friday, August 7 in the inaugural Audi Football Summit and will hope to announce further fixtures both domestically and overseas.

Ticket details for the matches against Walsall and Borussia Monchengladbach will be announced in due course while all our pre-season fixtures will be broadcast live on VillaTV. Streaming information will also be confirmed as soon as possible.

I would recommend Monchengladbach Friendly to anyone available a great stadium to visit and a very passionate fanbase. I would recommend staying in Cologne to anyone attending there isn't a great deal in Monchengladbach. The Belgisch Viertel is great for bars etc in Cologne and of course you have the area near the Cathedral. Dusseldorf is also another place to stay a bit for more upscale reputation in Germany but a lot of nice bars also and where many will fly back from. Any other recommendations needed let me know.

Holiday Inn Hauptbahnhof in Dusseldorf is currently £57 on Expedia! It is near the Train station in general in Germany I wouldn't stay too close to the station but that's a very good price. Anything under £100 in Altstadt and area south of Altstadt is very good. I've been to Cologne/Dusseldorf 10-20 times prefer Cologne but Dusseldorf is also great. The advantage you will have with Dusseldorf though is it is within the same travel VRR area as Monchengladbach so you should be able to travel free with match tickets on the day of the game. This is common in Germany for football matches.

Yes, totally, I love going to this part of Germany. And to be honest, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Mönchengladbach, Leverkusen etc may as well be one giant city, such are the transport links. Pick anywhere in that conurbation that tickles your fancy.

I really like Düsseldorf, especially Uerige Alt Bier. Cologne is nice too, as is Kölsch beer. I'm from Lincoln originally though so Cologne's cathedral doesn't really impress me ;)

Looks like it's Sociedad, but there was a bit of confusion due to Prince William's insistence that we play a Spanish team with 'real' in its name.

Anyone know when tickets go on sale for the Sociedad match.

For some unknown reason Missus doesn't agree that trip to HK in August with the lad is a good use of our limited funds, she did try to look at Dusseldorf flights but seems to think it will cost a grand for the 3 of us. I did retort it would only cost #300 for one of us (me). Again not all that keen.

Interesting that they're moving the Sociedad game and opening up that slot on the Saturday. seems likely we're looking to add something in there but whoever we're talking with wasn't free in the week so we've rearranged to open it up. I reckon that one will be a smaller one though becxause it's still long before any of the world cup players will be back and looking at game time.

Excellent. Better late than never.

'The Estádio do Dragão reopens its doors on Saturday, July 25th, to host FC Porto's presentation match. Before the initial whistle, scheduled for 7 pm, the players will be called one by one for their reunion with the blue and white family.

This time the opponent is Aston Villa, a British team that has won a Champions League, a European Super Cup, a Europa League, an Intertoto Cup, seven league titles, seven FA Cups, five League Cups, and a Community Shield.

The team coached by Unai Emery is the current holder of the Europa League – having beaten SC Freiburg (3-0) in the final played in May – and will be in Porto on the eve of the European Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain'.

But where are the likes of Allyson (who surely needs a Pre season to build himself up)

And the kids

Iling JR

Wilson
Burrowes

Surely they should be touching the first team by now?

Has there been any indication of whether Kamara is likely to be fit for the Walsall game?

He is training with the first team from day one so I can't see why he won't get some minutes / 1st half. Granted they might not risk him but he will need some game time at some point.

We've send him to Chelsea. Hope we've banked the cheque before they notice.

VillaTV info is out;

https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2026/july/20/news-watch-villa-v-walsall-for-free/ (https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2026/july/20/news-watch-villa-v-walsall-for-free/)

Walsall is free, but the other games require a paid subscription - £30 for 12 months, £15 for season ticket holders.

Game by game is £6.99 each.

I know it's only £15 but you'd think ST holders would get it free.
