Does anyone know the schedule yet? I quite fancy taking in a couple of games. The one on the 12th August is going to be difficult to get tickets for I suspect.
-
This is what we know so far. https://www.heroesandvillains.info/forumv3/index.php?topic=66653.0
I saw some rumours online a while back of an away game at Ibrox, but nothing concrete.
-
Fuck no.
-
Darn happy for it to be merged.

Rangers rumoured for 25 July and Indonesia for some reason.

Why the fuck would we be playing Rangers. Please god no.

I reckon Indonesian police would have no problem kicking the shit out of anyone that caused trouble.

Indonesia seems likely, Jon Crofts was already out there a few months back checking the security arrangements.

Indonesia - maybe as they are playing over that neck of the woods in HK
-
Are we playing Bayern München in some sort of preseason tournament too? Feel like I heard that on a Podcast.
-
Just a friendly, in Hong Kong.

So, I’ve worked out how to post X links on to my Bluesky page.

Yes not confirmed yet and rumoured due to Audi links sponsorship with us.
“For this year's season opener, the club has secured an opponent that finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Europa League: Aston Villa is experiencing its best run of form in decades. On August 15th at 3:30 PM, the club from Birmingham, England's second-largest city, will visit Borussia-Park.
The date hasn't been officially announced yet, but it's already listed on fussball.de. A week earlier, Aston Villa will be in Asia, facing Bayern Munich in Hong Kong on August 7th. There are rumors that Audi will become the shirt sponsor of the English team, the car manufacturer is a shareholder in Bayern Munich, and a co-sponsor of Borussia Mönchengladbach.”

Grrrrr... and I had recently decided not to go to Germany this summer, too.
Looks like I may have to after all. ::)

I, for one, welcome our new Teutonic overlords.

Aston Villa is pleased to announce the addition of two friendly matches to the club’s pre-season schedule.
Unai Emery’s Europa League winners will head to Walsall, for what has become a traditional fixture to mark the start of pre-season, on Tuesday, July 21 with kick-off at 7.30pm at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.
Before the Premier League begins, Villa will also travel to Germany to face Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, August 15. Kick-off at Borussia-Park will be at 3.30pm local time, against a Gladbach side who finished 12th in last season’s Bundesliga.
The club have already confirmed a pre-season showpiece fixture with Bayern Munich in Hong Kong on Friday, August 7 in the inaugural Audi Football Summit and will hope to announce further fixtures both domestically and overseas.
Ticket details for the matches against Walsall and Borussia Monchengladbach will be announced in due course while all our pre-season fixtures will be broadcast live on VillaTV. Streaming information will also be confirmed as soon as possible.

Nice one.
I am very tempted by Borussia Monchengladbach.
-
All the people who booked Salzburg are now changing their return plans.
-
I would recommend Monchengladbach Friendly to anyone available a great stadium to visit and a very passionate fanbase. I would recommend staying in Cologne to anyone attending there isn't a great deal in Monchengladbach. The Belgisch Viertel is great for bars etc in Cologne and of course you have the area near the Cathedral. Dusseldorf is also another place to stay a bit for more upscale reputation in Germany but a lot of nice bars also and where many will fly back from. Any other recommendations needed let me know.
-
I've been looking at Dusseldorf and getting the train, it's about 49 minutes I think.

Holiday Inn Hauptbahnhof in Dusseldorf is currently £57 on Expedia! It is near the Train station in general in Germany I wouldn't stay too close to the station but that's a very good price. Anything under £100 in Altstadt and area south of Altstadt is very good. I've been to Cologne/Dusseldorf 10-20 times prefer Cologne but Dusseldorf is also great. The advantage you will have with Dusseldorf though is it is within the same travel VRR area as Monchengladbach so you should be able to travel free with match tickets on the day of the game. This is common in Germany for football matches.

You could stay in a hut in Dusseldorf before travelling down.

I thought my Dad was making-up their name when I was a kid. Munching glad back? What the actual feck...?

I’m still disappointed no one has come in to do either the munching flapjack joke or the Give us a B chant.
This once great site…..

So we're playing Walsall on July 21st, which leaves the following Saturday free for a weekend trip to Scotland.

Yes, totally, I love going to this part of Germany. And to be honest, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Mönchengladbach, Leverkusen etc may as well be one giant city, such are the transport links. Pick anywhere in that conurbation that tickles your fancy.
I really like Düsseldorf, especially Uerige Alt Bier. Cologne is nice too, as is Kölsch beer. I'm from Lincoln originally though so Cologne's cathedral doesn't really impress me ;)

Aston Villa is pleased to announce the addition of a domestic friendly match against Real Sociedad to the club’s pre-season schedule.
Villa will take on the La Liga side on Saturday, July 25 at Walsall’s Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium. Kick-off will be at 3pm.

Not free anymore.

Pallet Track or Tough Sheet? Things are tough and traditional in the lower leagues.

Looks like it's Sociedad, but there was a bit of confusion due to Prince William's insistence that we play a Spanish team with 'real' in its name.

Anyone know when tickets go on sale for the Sociedad match.
For some unknown reason Missus doesn't agree that trip to HK in August with the lad is a good use of our limited funds, she did try to look at Dusseldorf flights but seems to think it will cost a grand for the 3 of us. I did retort it would only cost #300 for one of us (me). Again not all that keen.

Aston Villa is pleased to confirm the addition of two further friendly matches in Asia to the club’s pre-season schedule, as well as a change of date to a previously announced fixture.
Unai Emery’s men will face Indonesia All Stars at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK), Jakarta, on Saturday, August 1 (ko 7pm) before heading to Thailand to take on BG Pathum United on Tuesday, August 4 at True BG Stadium in Thanyaburi, Pathum Thani (ko 7.30pm).
Prior to their trip to the Far East, Villa had originally been scheduled to play Real Sociedad on Saturday, July 25. This will now move to Tuesday, July 28 with kick-off at 7.30pm at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.
Before returning to the UK, Villa will take on Bayern Munich in Hong Kong on Friday, August 7 in the inaugural Audi Football Summit.
The Europa League holders will start pre-season preparations at Walsall, for what has become a traditional fixture to mark the start of pre-season, on Tuesday, July 21 with kick-off at 7.30pm.
Before the Premier League gets underway, Villa will also travel to Germany to face Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, August 15. Kick-off at Borussia-Park will be at 3.30pm local time.

Interesting that they're moving the Sociedad game and opening up that slot on the Saturday. seems likely we're looking to add something in there but whoever we're talking with wasn't free in the week so we've rearranged to open it up. I reckon that one will be a smaller one though becxause it's still long before any of the world cup players will be back and looking at game time.
-
Walsall tickets on sale to season ticket holders - not long to wait now :-)
-
Think I said the same last pre season that we seem to play more games than anyone else. Is that 8 if you include the PSG one?
-
Porto away July 25th.
-
Nice. Getting the miles in.
-
Porto away July 25th.
Excellent. Better late than never.
'The Estádio do Dragão reopens its doors on Saturday, July 25th, to host FC Porto's presentation match. Before the initial whistle, scheduled for 7 pm, the players will be called one by one for their reunion with the blue and white family.
This time the opponent is Aston Villa, a British team that has won a Champions League, a European Super Cup, a Europa League, an Intertoto Cup, seven league titles, seven FA Cups, five League Cups, and a Community Shield.
The team coached by Unai Emery is the current holder of the Europa League – having beaten SC Freiburg (3-0) in the final played in May – and will be in Porto on the eve of the European Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain'.
-
Ooh, another European Cup winner for the list.
-
Feel free to watch most of the players who won't play much if at all run a bit.

I know the WC players will be on extended breaks after Sunday and i know that not all returning players can return on the same day for the fitness checks
But where are the likes of Allyson (who surely needs a Pre season to build himself up)
And the kids
Iling JR
Jomoh-Aloba
Hemmings
Wilson
Burrowes
Surely they should be touching the first team by now?
-
Matty Cash embracing the inevitable.
-
Don't think Iling has shown anything like the ability required to play for our first team, but the others hopefully have a chance.
Think Cisse may have a chance to be in the squad too.
-
If we start the season with Allyson being injured - we might as well forget him
-
Yes, because there's no way anyone could ever go on to have a successful career if he is injured aged twenty.
-
So 2 days away from our first friendly. Is this going to be made a sticky thread for all of the matches chat?
July 21: Walsall vs Aston Villa - Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium, 7.30pm
July 25: Porto vs Aston Villa - Estadio Do Dragao, 7pm
July 28: Aston Villa vs Real Sociedad - Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium, 7.30pm

Has anyone seen any details about it being shown on VillaTV?
I’m assuming it’s FOC for season ticket holders? Or are they doing a pay per view again?

Has there been any indication of whether Kamara is likely to be fit for the Walsall game?
-
He is training with the first team from day one so I can't see why he won't get some minutes / 1st half. Granted they might not risk him but he will need some game time at some point.
-
Ta.
