Sunday isn’t far away. We can lock in that CL spot with a win. Might only need a point if Bournemouth and Brentford fail to win on Saturday. The squad will be buoyant but Unai will get them back to work tomorrow and focused on the next task. 5th is fine but with Liverpool at VP would love a chance at 4th. Burnley aren’t good but we still need to do the business.
I’ll go 2-0 Villa - Rogers and Tammy
-
The line-up will be interesting.

The line-up will be interesting.
Same again, another 4-0, play the reserves against Liverpool.
-
I'd rest Ollie, SJM and anyone else with a knock. We'll still win 3-0.
-
4-0 to Villa. It's that sort of week.

Forgot about Elliott. Maybe him for Bogarde. Also switch Youri out for Stephen Ireland

You're being ridiculous now. Ireland bost his leg the other day.
-
I'd rest anyone who has a knock, but other than that go as strong as possible in the hope we can get it done and rest players against Liverpool.
-
Id much rather go strong for this, try for the win, and then play a weak side for Liverpool.
0-2
-
We need to go as strong as possible and lock in that Champions League spot. Play on the front foot again! I'm glad we ditched the trippy-tappy approach last night! Villa to win 2-1.
-
Right Villa please finish the job (I know we need Bournemouth not to win Saturday for us to make it mathematically certain with a win).

No, I heard that his grandmother died….

McGinn
Bogarde (Onana if fit)
Buendia

I would be nervous about resting too many after what happened vrs Spurs. Don’t risk anyone whose not 100% but otherwise go strong to get the job done.
Martinez
Cash
Konsa
Torres
Mastsen
Bogarde
Tielemans
McGinn
Watkins
Rogers
Sancho
Hopefully get a comfortable enough lead to take McGinn, Watkins, Tielemans and Rogers off early.
3-1 us (Watkins, Rogers, Tammy off the bench)
-
Let’s just win and put it all to bed.
That would be lovely.
-
Win this. Hope Bournemouth drop points this weekend. Sign 11 lamposts to stick in Villa Park and the Etihad for the last two league games. Smash Freiburg. Party all the summer with the World Cup on in the background.

Gets my vote.

Assuming everyone recovers from last night (a lot of energy was expended!), then I would definitely go strong in this game, get the win we need, and then rest anyone and everyone vs Liverpool ahead of Istanbul.
If we go with a weakened team, and don't get a result, while those chasing us manage to win, it will just make next Friday way more stressful than it needs to be. The Liverpool game should be a celebration, the last home game with CL confirmed and a final to look forward to. We do not want to be playing that game knowing we need a result.
Let's get it done this weekend, and turn our minds to the final!
-
Hasn't Lindelof earned a start?
-
I’d love to see Lindelof again (nudge nudge) but I suspect he’s knackered!
-
He couldn't walk at the end of the match for the celebrations so not sure if he will be fit to play, and maybe not the full 90.
-
Sunday 2pm.
This one is very nearly as important, just hope there is enough in the tank to get the job done. I think there will be on adrenalin alone. Win this and relax ahead of the Final.
-
There’s already a thread. Just not been pinned yet
-
Darn didn’t see it so far down the page!
-
Need to win this. Not even getting a draw out of Fulham and Spurs combined was extremely terrible. Failing to get a win out of those two plus Burnley would be, frankly, unthinkable.
So, here it is. Fucking win Villa.
-
Keep the feel good atmosphere bubbling by going strong, get CL sorted and then the Liverpool game can be a good send off for the team (whoever plays).
Results tomorrow may have an influence but we should be winning this to ease us into the final.
0-1
-
I would imagine the players will be chomping at the bit to win this and get it all wrapped up, start like last night and have it well in the bag by the hour mark and make a load of changes.
-
On paper our most winnable league game left and we really need the three points which should be enough for the top five, go strong and get it done please.
-
2-0

Indeed we need to win this one.

Do you think any of them would have had a few jars last night? Or do players even drink anymore? Is it all Huel and macrobiotics?
This time a decade ago the Leicester lads drank beetroot shakes and went into cryochambers between games to win them the league. Not exactly steak and chips for dinner, and Phil Collins on the home hifi anymore.
We need more Jack Grealishes.
-
Blame the sports scientists and their "marginal gains" stats!
-
After the reaction after the Spurs game I hope we field an even weaker team full of youth players.

Two years ago after we had qualified for the CL and had the after season awards, McGinn was seen at a canalside bar after having a few with some friends.
However we haven't qualified yet and so I hope they are off any buzz juice until after the final.
-
Just need to win, secure CL, and then Unai can focus on analysing Freiburg's last 40 games.
-
We'll qualify - Wrap most of that 11 from last night in cotton wool until the final please Unai.
-
I hope Fulham beat or at least draw against Bournemouth at home today. You'd think Man City will beat Brentford at home today?
-
Anthony Taylor will be the referee for this weekend's Premier League fixture between Burnley and Aston Villa.
Villa have won just 𝐎𝐍𝐄 of their last 𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄 PL games with Taylor in charge
-
One more league win please Villa. I hope we take this one seriously.

He is a horrible ref for us, definitely a closet bluenose.
-
Just win the fucking game.
Liverpool have dropped points again so 4th is in our sights.
-

He's already done it.
Let's not forget Man City only won 1-0 at Turf Moor a few weeks back. Expect a tough game, take nothing for granted.
As for Liverpool at home, our last game at Villa Park with all four stands open for the next 15 months, a beautiful home win to send the lads off with a cheer.
Taking the piss out of Arnie Slob for his fireworks comment just adds to the fun of a Villa win.
-
Any chance of seeing the lesser spotted Allyson?
-
If he's fit he has 180 minutes hard labour penciled in versus Liverpool and Man City.
-
We have no option but to go strong with the Bournemouth and Brighton results. Need the 3 points.
-
We do need to win this game.
-

Yep- strongest possible lineup. Get ahead early and hopefully we can start resting some key players early in the second half.
-
We should never have let it get to this stage but we will beat a dreadful Burnley team who have conceded 71 goals in the league
-
Burnley have won one league game since October. We don't deserve top 5 if we don't beat them.
-
Heard similar before the spurs game, although they weren't quite as shit as Burnley are.
Please win Villa, I really didn't want to get to stage of needing anything from the last 2 games.
-
I'd like to see us play with the same front foot football we played against Forest. Get in their faces from the start. It would be good to score 3 or 4!
-

Given the restrictions on us, Im pretty pleased we have every chance of qualifying for the campions league with 3 games to go.

Looking at the bigger picture I’d say this is very true. To do what Emery has done is little short of genius.
-
If the training pictures that were posted a few hours ago on Instagram, is any hint of what team will look like tomorrow, it’ll be weaker than Spurs.
-
This is now a must win I suppose.

Always was.

Holding out hope that the players involved on Thursday were told to skip outdoor training.
-
We have to win this, can't see a problem, i'm going with 2-0 Villa.
-

Agreed.

Same.

Almost certainly the case, I'd imagine. They'll have been in their sleep pods counting their trainers.
-
The photos were probably taken on Friday anyway.
-
if you could pick any team in the whole of the Premier league to play away from home tomorrow it would probably be an already relegated Burnley, it certainly wouldn’t be Wolves and they are the only team lower
But with that Spurs thing you just don’t know what’s gonna happen
I still don’t fully understand that to be honest, but we do need to win tomorrow so let’s not fuck about
-
We have to go in hard, they have nothing to play for but self survival.
-
We’ve two performances and the absolute two ends of the spectrum this week. We need to get the mentality right, if it’s the same as it was against Spurs we’ll lose. But if we get anywhere near our best we’ll win comfortably. We need to make sure we don’t create a problem for ourselves.
-
We need to play as strong a side as possible if we want to get the three points. I'm assuming Torres won't play, as he was struggling at the end on Thursday night.
A win more or less guarantees 5th place.
-
A big win would be good for the goal difference…
-

I think if goal difference is going to matter we’re probably struggling as we’ll have lost two games. I think in reality we either need Bournemouth to drop points or we just get 4 points.
-
I think he means for getting above Liverpool and ManU.
