Obviously they will win. Can't decide if it will be a twatting, a bottling from two goals up, injury time catastrophe or just outright cheating like the last visit, but they will win.

Have a feeling we'll get a positive result on Sunday (even before tonight's game). I'd a take a win, 2-1 to us.

Last time we played away, three days after beating Lille, with a cobbled-together midfield and no Kamara and everyone thinking we were on the verge of blowing Champions League qualification:

Nailed on defeat, as certain as night follows day.

Just a question of when the dodgy penalty gets awarded.

We get a dubious 96th min pen. Our first of the season. Finally some karma for all the dodgy decisions and late goals against these. Ollie runs up, blam. GOAL. Final score ManU 4 Villa 1.

I think we will win, blind optimism maybe but pressure is on them. That will give us opportunities.

Maatsen and McGinn will hopefully start. I'm assuming Cash will be out.

She sounds great.

Me and my boy are taking the good lady out for lonch so probably get back in time to see them score the winner.

Last 2 Mother's Day for the record

Villa 0 . 4 Spuds. However that was a pyrrhic victory for them as it transpired.
Preston 0 .3 Villa. See above come 4 weeks later.

Sesko does have a goal in him but isn't much of an athlete, in the way Pedro is. Think that will make it easier on Konsa and Torres bringing the ball out from the back and keeping our line tight. Maatsen on left and Bogarde will continue on right. Worried we will be outnumbered in the middle like we were
v Chelsea but McGinn even 70% fit is a massive improvement over Bailey. I guess Buendia, Rogers and Watkins for the other three spots. Rogers form has collapsed so really could do with him returning to form.

If we release Onana to press higher like he did v Lille then there's a risk Fernandes will have loads of space to cause problems. But it's a risk worth taking for me. Mbuemo will target Bogarde too. If we do win a dirty 1-0 win like under Deano will be perfect. Ollie again.

With Cash and Sancho out, we'll need to be strong down our RHS, so hopefully SJM is fit and ready.

                  Martinez
Bogarde   Konsa   Torres   Digne
           Luiz           Onana
   McGinn     Rogers     Watkins
                Abraham

I'd strengthen the left side (to counter the Amad / Mbuemo threat) with Watkins playing in a wide role; controversial, maybe;  unlikely, for sure!

Emery could go with that alright, wouldn't be my choice. Much prefer Maatsen at left back to Digne these days. Hard to second guess Emery, Elliot could be back in from the cold (again). Hope we don't see Bailey on right and McGinn left.

It rarely is.
Kudos to any Villa fans going to OT.

I really hope it is different this time.

0-1 - Luiz penalty

As with everyone else, hate this fixture, but doubt will get to watch it being mothers day.

If Cash is definitely out, I’d go with.

                             Martinez

    Bogarde.        Konsa.      Torres.      Mastsen

                 McGinn.      Luiz.         Onana

                  Beundia.                 Rogers

                                    Watkins

And the main reason amongst many that i hate this fixture is the eternal hope of a delusional man.

2-1 (McGinn, Watkins)

That's a wee bit over the top but i'm with you, I'm going for a Villa win 2-1 think they have a goal in them, in any case if we where sticking out our reserve, reserve team i'd still predict us, after what this dross did to Villa this time last year and what its cost the club since, no way in a million years would I predict these ****ers to win anything, realism or not.

I'm looking forward to this as much as I would look forward to route canal treatment without anaesthetic. I'll be watching in Benidorm with 8 other Villa fans no doubt massively outnumbered by plastic Mancs from all over Southern England. Can't be arsed to predict the result but I can  predict that even if we are still in with a shout in the second half the onfield officials will find a way to get them the result they so richly deserve. If not VAR will come to their rescue. The only other certainty is by the end of the game I'll be telling everyone how much I hate Ratface and how much I want to punch him in his face. Let's just get it over with and move on.

If Man U play well & we don't, they'll beat us.
If we play well, we'll probably find a way to gift them the result.
If Man U play shite, we play well & we don't gift them the result, the officials / VAR will find a way to gift them the result.

We've been our own worst enemies at Old Trafford for longer than I care to remember, I don't see anything changing tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong.

If Man U play well & we don't, they'll beat us.
If we play well, we'll probably find a way to gift them the result.

I'm actually quite excited to see just what the refs manage to magic up for Man U this time, they've been a creative lot over the years. You never know what you'll get (just that it will be something).

The Villa store are emailing with another 15% off clearance. They know rightly what's coming.

My only concern is they don't seem to have a 7 year old wunderurchin to bring on for his debut goal. Sorry in advance.

I feel confident about this. My dad and uncle used to call this the biggest game in football so i look forward to it each season. Once we get over that we’re not playing against the busby babes, Bobby Charlton, George Best, Denis Law, Alex Ferguson etc as well as the current line up, we’ll win this and I’m going 2-0

Absolutely hate these cheating twats!

Not much of a contribution to the discourse, but just had to let it out.

You won't find anyone disagreeing with you on here and that is a perfectly valid addition to the discourse. They are indeed scumbag cheating twats.

In a do or die game at the end of last season against an awful Man United side we fell short - albeit with a ref doing poorly, which is hardly a surprise. I struggle to see how we reverse the witches curse when we’re in a bit of a low ebb and they’re in a decent space.

I was just trying to remember  the last time we got a penalty at old trafford. Anyone remember  as i can't remember us ever getting one there in my lifetime?

We got one there on New Year's Day 1983, which Sid scored. I know this as I was in the Yanited end that day. We still lost.

Fucking  hell. 1983 !! Thats unbelievable

Thrown another lifeline, come on Villa, its in your hands now we can take third spot and have a sizable points lead over Chelsea or Liverpool, vital at this point in the season.

Convincing defeat, absolutely no doubt in my mind.

The only slight hope is it's the same ref as Unai's first game which was against these feckers, it would be win 101,so hopefully one of those weird things happen.

This is what I am expecting. I think I have PTSD from this fixture last year.

Just before kick off - after a glass of wine with mothersday's lunch  - Im sure that ill convince myself that this time will be different - and then hate myself for it 3 hours later.

At least Chelsea lost.

I’m sure we’ll lose - but this would be a really good time to find our shape, structure, and character again in the league. If we could get something it’d be huge.
