With man utd and chelsea having winnable games away at west ham & home to Leeds, on the Tuesday, the pressure really could be on by the time we face Brighton. If Man utd win, they’ll be ahead of us on goal difference.
Brightons away record isn’t great, but they can pull results out of the bag, they’ve beat Chelsea & drawn with Man City.
We never looked like winning against Everton and Brentford, so something really has to change on Wednesday.
Nervous times.

Martinez
Cash
Konsa
Torres
Maatsen
Onana
Luiz
Beundia
Watkins
Rogers
Sancho

A nervy 2-0 (Watkins, Abraham off the bench)

I like James Milner. It would be nice to get the record at Villa Park. Or equal it whatever it is. As long as we are winning the game at the time he comes on of course and he doesn’t help them in any way to get any kind of result. Because he can fuck off at that point.

Only possible change to that team is Barkley for Buendia with Rogers swapped to the left. Critical game for us this one.

Milner may join Barry in nuimber of appearances, but he's way, way behind on actual minutes and starts. He has circa 40,000 minutes v Barry's 54,000.

Buendia is our only player right now on the same wavelength as Rogers. I agree though in re-enforcing the midfield, it's pointless having any attacking players on the pitch if we can't control the midfield. I don't think the defence would complain either. It's why we are where we are right now. Barkley has the experience to play the holding role with permission to bring the ball forward but he's no 10.
Unai only giving Tammy 5 minutes at Bournemouth makes me thing he'll start on Wednesday. Tammy or Watkins makes little difference if the midfield isn't working.

I've not once seen them sit in on a team this season, it's just not how they roll.

They'll play their vertical passing game with wingbacks higher then mini skirts on Broad Street.

Their manager is under pressure and they're getting a lot of draws recently, not conceding too many - mostly ones and nils with and a couple of twos. Nothing more than that since we scored four at their place.

A 1-1 wouldn't surprise me given our drop-off in scoring goals too.

At least Ollie should be confident, they're his favourite opponent.

I think we win this.  wont be pretty - but think this is the kind of game where Unai shows why he's world class.

Think Oilie start - scores, and swaps for Tammy on 60 who also scores.  2-nil

I think they only go on sale when it's a sell out. Ive put my sons up for sale twice when he couldn’t go. On one occasion a random was sitting by me and the money appeared in my account a few days later. Second time was Palace at home on the August bank holiday Sunday. No sale, bit no one from the club  tells you either way.

If I don't have a lift, I usually walk up to Perry Barr and order one. By then the traffic has died down a bit and you tend to get one easily enough. Failing that, have a quick pint in the new warehouse thingy after the game and order one when the crowds have died down.

I neglected to post in the threads before Fenerbahçe, Newcastle and Salzburg and we won all three so I was going to keep this up..........anyway.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth at the three midfield injuries was because we all knew how this would effect the team, and that was more than apparent on Saturday and is likely to be so tonight. I thought it was a good point at Bournemouth and until we have SJM and Youri back we may have to "modge" through where the result is all and the performance doesn't really matter. Having said that we should have enough at home tonight to get the 3 points and grab the opportunity afforded us by last nights results.

Both Bailey and Watkins were really poor at the weekend so I'd start Tammy and be reticent to bring the former on too soon. I don't like to be a pessimist but when I am the Manager always proves me wrong so....

1-1

If Cash is out, Konsa to RB it's going to have to be. That's ugly. Lindelof has been fine to be fair at RCB and perhaps a bit unlucky to have slipped back to 4th choice centre back on form alone. Bogarde was horrible at RB.

Really interesting team selection for Emery tonight. Will be rotating a few anyway. Torres, Maatsen to come back in. Think he will keep faith in Ollie, he destroyed their defence earlier in the season.

Rogers
Buendia  (replace with Barclay at 70)
Sancho  (replace with Bailey at 80 - or even Allyson depending on score)

Tammy  (replace with Watkins at 80)
