Good start to the golfing year sees LIV golfer Brooks Koepka returning to the PGA tour, hopefully many more will do the same.
-
Hopefully not to be fair, most of the utter morons like de Chmabeau & particularly that jerk Mickelson are at LIV alongside a number of the veterans like Westwood / Poulter/ mcDowell & Garcia for whom taking the money was the best option as their competitive PGA days were coming to an end. Leave them all where they are hoovering up the cash.
Koepka, Hatton & Rahm were the only ones worth trying for….guess Rahm & Hatton joining later are probably financially tied to at least another year at the behest of the Saudis
-
Good to see Justin Rose winning in California, he lead in all 4 rounds and finished winning by 7 shots, that is impressive.

Hopefully the Americans will find another absolute whooper like Bradley to put in charge again

Matt Fitzpatrick comes very close to being the first Englishman to win The Players, losing by one shot to Cameron Young on the final hole.
-
Good effort by Matt, but Young outplayed him on the last two holes.
-
Following on from last week, Matt ends up winning in Florida, his first win on the PGA tour for nearly 3 years, with the Masters only 17 days away, not a bad time for him to find his top form.

Tiger Woods in another car crash , drink or drugged at the wheel again
-
Gary Woodland winning the Houston Open yesterday, wouldn't normally be big headlines, but it does because only in September 2023, he had an operation to remove a brain tumour, as you can imagine there were emotional scenes, after he sunk the winning putt.

I got as choked up as most when he won the 2019 Masters, but he is a proper fucking idiot. Not worthy of the acclaim.
Thankfully McIlroy absolutely blew that out the water last year anyway. Might not bother this year, or ever again, because that's never being topped.

I'm a member of Stonehaven Golf Club nr Aberdeen and we opened a new 13th hole at the weekend. I was giving it the big one to my playing partners saying I'd be the first to birdie it and demanded footage be taken. Wish i hadn't!.

Masters week, definitely my second favourite golf tournament.
-
Be nice to see Rory hand a green jacket on to Fleetwood after their successful Ryder Cup partnership.
-
Or Justin Rose
-
Or Shane Lowry.
-
Or Matt Fitzpatrick
-
Fleetwood or Rose would be good
With Corey Connors hopefully in the top 8 as have backed him :-) top 10 in 4 of last 6 years so he’s a course specialist….he’ll probs miss the cut now :-)
-
I'd rather Rose considering he has finished second three times and is further along in his career. Fleetwood really should win a major eventually. Feel like Rose deserves a Masters as much as you can without actually winning the thing.
Either of those two are good though.
-
Harrison Reed in good early shape. Fair play to him, but would be a dull winner. Fleetwood's just downed another blinder to move back to -3. Rose has chipped to a foot to move -1 thru 2. Lowry in good shape (would love him to win too). McIlroy in good shape. Decent day so far.
Never really warmed to MacIntyre or Fitzpatrick. Do like Danny Willet though if he can pull off a redux of that nonsense from 2016(!!!). +1 thru 7.
-
Nick Faldo - when a sporting hero of your youth turns out to be a complete bellend.
-
Nice round from Rose. Shame about the last two holes, but he's in and around it again. MacIntyre's head has separated from his shoulders and, if you squint hard enough, can be seen orbiting Georgia.
-
Rose and McIlroy sat top of the leaderboard again. Absolutely love it.
-
Still haven't forgiven Rose for switching from Villa. Come on Rory and Fleetwood.

I might get excited if it's the same this time on Sunday. Leads can disappear very quickly at Augusta.
-
Free calendar and I'm soaking up all four days this year. Don't rain on my parade.
*Take your point on Rose who has looked a little tetchy. McIlory is set and will be there of thereabouts.
What's the Rose/Villa stuff? I thought he was...wanna say Chelsea?
-
DeChambeau misses the cut, finishing with a triple bogey on the last, good.
-
Yep, bye.
McIlroy's winning this barring a meltdown. Unplayable.
-
Simply superb
-
Pretty amazing to be leading the tournament by 6 when you're 90th out of 91 players in driving accuracy. I'll be a lot more comfortable if he's still leading by 6 after R3, rather than it being down to 2 or 3 shots.

I really like Rory. Not sure why I really like Rory; there must be a reason for me to really like Rory. I can't quite put my finger on why I really like Rory, but Rory is great, and I just really like Rory.

There's only one Rory.

Aww thanks, yes I am quite the individua- oh, you meant him.

Do you know anyone who knows him? I reckon I could find a yank whose only Irish relative is from 1615 who claims to know him.

I know him myself. In fact we're best buds.* Terrific lad.
*He may dispute this, but that's just an in-joke we have.
-
It's probably better for Rory that he's going around with Sam Burns today, rather than Reed. Rory and Paddy don't get on.
-
Poor start from Rory, the chasing pack are closing quickly.
-
What a hole in one from Shane Lowry!! 🙌
-
There's the double.
-
Still haven't forgiven Rose for switching from Villa. Come on Rory and Fleetwood.
Same but I thought I was the only one who remembered him being Villa! Do you know what the story is because I could never find any detail on it?

I can't find anything now, either! Glad I have someone to back my very long memory up.
-
At the time he broke through at The Open as a teenager I distinctly remember him saying he was Villa despite growing up in SA. Fast forward 10 years and he was blithering on about Cheatsea.

It all changed after the 2000 FA Cup final. He was radicalised by CD into cheering for Chelsea because of our non-traditional stripey kit.
-
Beers in. Football done. Let's go.
-
It's getting tense now, can Rory hold on? 13 under might just be enough to do it.
-
Really wanted Rose to win it, but as soon as he took the lead his game fell apart. Ah well, if it's not him, I'll be happy for it to be Rory.
-
Great final day, but Rory's done it. Joins a very elite club in winning a second successive Green jacket.
-
Nicklaus, Faldo, Woods and Rory!
-
Well done Rory
-
Nicklaus, Faldo, Woods and Rory!
And only three of those have won all four majors. I'd also argue that it's more difficult nowadays, given the breadth of talent.
-
Belated well done Rory and thank you to the Rose originally being Villa conformists!
-
Looks like Heck’s job in peril!
-
Not surprised if Saudis have got bored…they must watch the the masters and players etc and realise their product just can’t match up in any way whatever they do in terms of chucking gazillions at idiots like Mickelson and Bryson de Donkey
-
Yes Matt Fitzpatrick…thought he had blown the RBC Heritage on 18 but won on first play off hole….in the face of the graceless crowd and that USA BS….the morons screaming ‘no’ when he holed the winning putt,
