Maybe don't rely on subs winning it today Unai.

So it's Bogarde and Sancho presumably down the right. I hope he gives Bogarde some help as I think he'll need it.

Rice definitely out is good news.

Come on Villa, we can do this.

SJM has looked tired last couple of games, but that is shock.   Bench looks a bit weak doesn’t it.

Looks ok to me the only one I hadn’t expected was Buendia for McGinn but with hindsight it’s logical as he is rotating as far as he can.

Subs will up the pace if needed.

Need the full backs to match their wingers!

If that falls on Sancho, he really needs to step up.

Sancho and Beundia in the same side with no McGinn is light and really risky, given we are already down Kamara.

Lack of squad depth is starting to tell. He hasn't got that same impact off the bench that he's relied on so heavily this far. But having said that it's the Spanish genius we're talking about here. No doubt he has a cunning plan up his sleeve. Whatever happens it's been a blast this season and it will continue to be a blast. Fuck it. Arse 2 All Conquering Aston Villa 3.

Going to be very tough. First team looks much weaker than normal. Subs bench even more so. A point would be amazing.  They have a full squad apart from Rice.

Weakest midfield we've put out this season. The plan is obviously to completely bypass them all game. long balls for Watkins to chase. Great.

Their bench is weird, not many options to change things in defence but 3 wingers and 2 10s on there.

They’re nervy

Or, Arteta is playing his cards very close to his chest v the come back kids, we have had a lot more ball early on, Arsenal could be playing the waiting game for the second half to counter Villa.

I have often thought that all of Arsenals nerves and twitchiness is brought on by their manager.
There is being passionate and there is being an absolute nervous wreck on the touchline

Has to be said we were very good, calm, measured and composed and sprung them on the break often. Maatsen, Malen and McGinn at 60 for the win.

That's where I'm at. We need to be clinical in front of goal and Watkins really should have scored two in the first 20 minutes.
Very impressed with Onana, taking on the responsibility of driving us forward. A joy to watch.

It’s a good half, but they’ll hit us hard in the second.

My thoughts also, you can see this coming, I think this is Arteta's game plan, Unai will know this, lets see what he does.

Really enjoyable first half. Have liked our shape out of possession. Wide men working hard and full backs have been strong. Arsenal wide open on the counter and Ollie had to punish them for that chance. Horrible contact. To be fair that lump Arsenal have up front should be doing better with those two headers. Neither of our centre backs covered themselves in glory there.

Midfield two have dominated their Spanish duo, neither of them can run. Need a bit more from Rogers. Sancho has been decent and Buendia very sharp and aggressive.

Yeah but the ref doesn't give the opposition a yellow for pointing it out.

Saka is a bit lucky to be on the pitch. Should have a least 1 yellow.

The issue is, teams now know we're vulnerable to a floated corner in the six yard box if you disrupt Emi's set-up.  So they're all going to do it.  Either he figures out a way to fix it, or we're going to concede a lot more goals from corners.

Look at their bench versus ours. A couple of injuries and suspensions we are down to the academy. They lashed out ten times wha we did just to reinforce what thy had, get deeper and stronger. It will take us many more years of consistent CL football and revenues to get there. And even then we may never catch up.

Eh, it happens. Way too many important players out, not enough depth in the squad to cope with it because we’re not allowed to spend any money. Arsenal needed to win this and they have loads of players.

On the plus side, if the results stay the same for the last 5 mins elsewhere, we've had an absolutely atrocious night ourselves, but we've only lost one point to both Chelsea and Man Utd, who were both playing at home to teams they were expected to beat.  It could have been a lot worse.

Not much of a silver lining, but I'll take it!

They're a level above us tbf. With our first 11 we can give most teams a good run, but take 2 or 3 out and we're going to struggle.

I'd have taken 6 points from the last 3, and I'd have had it the way we've got it, so not too disappointed, even though I fucking hate these ******. Really hope Man City win the league.

they are 1.3 billion team and we have 2  class midfielders out and others. and the fans think they have just hammered PSG ,   Its not over this season yet . . .   They will be crying at the end.

Fair play to Arsenal, but they've been allowed to get away with murder throughout this game. Constant fouling not being penalised by the ref. As for their corners, again, it seems like they are allowed to get away with blatant holding and fouling. But, having said that we have been poor in the second half.
