Under Unai the sky is the limit and there will be goals that actually mean more but in a less important way.

We thought he was looking for the linesman flag, he was probably looking for Shaw or Withe, he didn't need either as it transpired. The age old argument , who was Villa's greatest player..Warring, Hitchens, Lochhead ,Little, Gray, Shaw , McGrath or Gordon Sidney Cowans (my vote) . It will never be settled. The greatest ever Villa captain, however, is a open and shut case IMHO ..step forward Dennis Mortimer.

Made me think what would a Villa captain have to do to overtake Dennis Mortimer and be regarded as our greatest ever captain. I genuinely cannot think of anything. Even if he won the League and the European Cup and some more silverware and was our captain for at least 10 years, I'd still pick Dennis.

Post by: dave shelley on December 08, 2025, 06:44:58 PM: I was at the match at Goodison Park the day Tony Morley scored 'that' goal which was not long after that Liverpool match and as Denis Mortimer burst through on goal this Scouser standing close to me said 'He's gonna fuckin' do to us what he did to Liverpool' which he duly did. They were very similar in their execution.
