Can't see the Eagles going ahead in this one. Another 'job done' performance in the Netherlands, 2-0 to the Villa.

I think Unai will rest quite a few for this without disrespecting the opposition. I expect Bogarde to start in place of Kamara. Unsure what he does elsewhere. We need to ensure we’re managing players minutes.

I'd go;

Martinez

Cash, Lindelof, Torres, Maatsen

Bogarde, Onana

McGinn, Elliott, Rogers

Watkins

Id like to think we will be resting Cash or McGinn anyway. Either of those get injured and we are in trouble. Rogers should be given the night off too.

Maybe try Ollie and Malen up front again like v Burnley. Buendia on left and one of Sancho or Elliot on the right. Not sure what we do if/when Cash is out, might be Lindelof there which won't be pretty. Bizot will start too.

Hate these "when do we have we tea?" European kick offs.

We feel more resilient these days which helps when you are away from home in Europe so that give me heart for a positive result. I can see plenty of rotation, some periods of showing said resilience and an eventual victory.

I mentioned this a while ago to a Dutch family we’re friends with
They said they call it Holland as well and it’s a load of overblown bollocks
same level as forest fans getting annoyed when called Notts and west ham fans pretending everyone’s always called their old ground the Boleyn and not Upton Park

I'm a British Tourist and I'm very, very rude.
I hate the stinking foreigners
hate their stinking food
I don't like French or Germans
I don't care for Belgians much
But worst of all worst of all
I hate the Dutch
The Dutch, the Dutch
I hate them worse than dogs.
They live in windmills
and mince around in clogs.
They don't have any manners
They don't say 'thanks' or 'please'
all they eat is tulips
and stinking gouda cheese...
I'm a British tourist with a countenance severe
I love to strike the foreign type
And box their poxied ears
The slimy crawling
stench appalling
snotty grotty Dutch
The Dutch are mad
Their fingers stuck in dikes
They use the wrong side of the road
And ride around on bikes
They don't have any manners,
don't have any brains.
There's only one race worse than them
and that's... THE DANES!

Don’t know anything about these. No complacency, some need rest, but think Unai will nearly always play Rogers and Kamara if fit. Onana is just back, so three games in 10 days might be too much (including Belgium game).

Martinez
Cash
Konsa
Torres
Maatsen
Kamara
Bogarde
Malen
Watkins
Rogers
Guessand

2-0, Watkins, Malen

We have played four other sides with a bird in their name.
Swansea are one, who are the other three ?

One of them you have to go back to the 19th century.
One of them we played in Europe and it is their correct full name .
The other we played in a one off game (think Swansea above).

*Willing to be corrected if there are more.

There is a big storm due later today, but it will impact the coastal areas more, and Deventer is inland and far from the coast.

GAE were battered 4-2 a couple of weeks ago by my local Dutch team, who chalked up their first Eredivisie win in 47 years. If Villa don't give them a good hiding, I'll be staggered.

Given the next two league games, wonder whether Unai will shuffle the pack a bit tonight.  There are a few that could do with some minutes in their legs.

Should be an interesting game. I hope we don't take it easy against these Eagles.

Gat the game won early rather than take it the limit.

No, we'll take it easy for the first hour then push for the win.

From BBC:

Although they have won both UEFA Europa League matches so far this season, only two sides have faced more shots than Aston Villa (36) and only five sides have attempted fewer shots than Villa (18).

Shouldn’t this be in the Broadcasters bias thread. It’s an anti-Brummie plot I tells ya.

The lads will be taking it easy after checking in at the hotel California, we go into this as the new kids in town, make sure we get plenty of goals and take it to the limit, nothing desperate, what a load of shite.

Anyway, 4-1 Villa.

I wonder if he will rest our new wonderkid Matty Cash, what a pass!, his stock has just sky rocketed, watch the big clubs come in for him in January, what they are not getting is the contribution from Guessand in front of him, Ollie has a massive chance now to really get some goals under his belt.

All in all should be a fairly standard win with plenty of goals.

It has been so long that you haven't been at a match that you forgot we have a match thread for that sort of thing.
