Title: Site Slow?
Post by: cdbearsfan on September 03, 2025, 12:24:54 PM
Is the site slow lately? Pages seem to be taking a while to load. Wasn't sure if some update shenanigans was under way or if it's my Wi-Fi. Haven't noticed problems with other sites, so maybe I have just been a bit banned.

I was getting 'bad gateway' messages earlier, and pages wouldn't load. I am highly incompetent though.

Yep, very slow. All browsers I’ve tried, no different.

Yes very slow for me too - which on the plus side means I might actually go to sleep at a normal time.

It has been a bit slow at times today, but at least it's not transfer deadline day, and no 'biggie' has died.

It sped up last night and then has gone slow again.

I reckon one of the servers is slow and the other quick!

I reckon one of the servers is slow and the other quick!

It's like watching Nadal play Kyrgios.

I reckon Monchi did it.

It’s due to all this rain and wind. Nothing new in that as even trains slow down in this sort of weather.

For a while now the server has been continually hit with login attempts. It got to such a point this morning that the logs, that record the login attempts, had used up all of our disk space on the server.
This also had the effect of locking me out of the server and it has taken most of today to get the server to reboot so l could access it.
Once rebooted l found that the forum had corrupt messages_table which also had to be repaired.

I cannot say if the the login attempts has contributed to the slowness some have experienced, but it may have done.

I will now arrange to move the forum to another server host in the next few days (one that answers their ticket system l hope!).

Cheers, Martin. Sounds like the problem was caused by VillaTim trying to log back in.

This reminds me I need to cough up some cash again to support the site. These things don't fall magically from the sky. Thanks Martin!

Nothing to do with site speed, but just in case it affects anything on here or complaints of missing images from posts.
