2nd round games this week and the draw is likely to be after the Grimsby v Man U game on Wednesday.
Who do you reckon and who do you want?
Game will almost certainly be w/c 15th September.
I want Port Vale at home but I think it'll be Coventry away.
-
Champions League teams and Europa League teams seeded, but Conference League Palace not seeded as that competition doesn't start until October.
We will draw Palace, then.
https://www.efl.com/news/2025/august/26/carabao-cup--round-three-draw-details-confirmed/
-
Its going to Blues. They are cocky as fuck at the moment.
-
What's the point, we never bother with it no more
-
I'm away on hols w/c 15th September, so it'll definitely be Small Heath.
-
Home to Grimsby.
-
If it's away then best chance of tickets would be Man U (we get about 7k) or Palace.
-
Port Vale away.
-
Everton away , only chance of getting an away ticket to see the new stadium.
-
Not Palace and not Small Heath please.
-
Bradford City...
-
Its going to Blues. They are cocky as fuck at the moment.
I doubt it.
-
Not Palace and not Small Heath please.
Well it's definitely not going to be Small Heath now 😁
-
Agent Gauci triumphant.
Small Heath 0-1 Port Vale
But he didn't actually have a shot to save.
-

I wouldn’t wish Palace away midweek on my worst enemy. Most dreadful journey of the season and a guaranteed defeat to boot.
-

Not any more

Yes this didn’t age well, how funny.
-
West Ham, Sunderland, Leeds, Birmingham, Bournemouth all out.
-
West Ham, Sunderland, Leeds, Bournemouth all out.
FTFY.
-
Port Vale please. If for no other reason than it would torment that lot, 'what could have been'...
-
Sheff Wed or Huddersfield should get a good ticket allocation there.
-
Port Vale please. If for no other reason than it would torment that lot, 'what could have been'...
Exactly my thoughts. At Vale. They'd be distraught at what could have been.
-
Barnsley at home and an emotional return for Conor Hourihane
-
Barnsley at home and an emotional return for Conor Hourihane
Or away as its the nearest ground to where I live - jointly with Hillsborough so that will do too.
-
Now the rockstars down the road are out, a winnable game with a big away allocation please. Wednesday would be good, Hillsborough is a good away day.
-
Lincoln for me, if not Wednesday or Forest.
-
Home against Grimsby would do.
-
The only teams definitely in the draw that we haven't played before in the competition are Lincoln City, Port Vale and Brentford. We haven't played Mansfield Town in the League Cup before either.
-
No thanks. We are shit against teams starting with "Man".
-
See!
https://www.11v11.com/teams/aston-villa/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Mansfield%20Town/
-
What a ludicrous part of the draw that was.
-
I didn't quite get it, and didn't see it, but have we already been drawn to be home or away? And if so how was it decided. I get the need to keep us from facing the CL clubs because of fixture congestion, but how did it work?
-
They just drew 8 anonymous home or away balls out.
-
They did it last year IIRC. Those are placeholders for whether the kept back team is playing home or away being as that can't be decided as normal draw out first.
-
Home against Grimsby would do.
It's still on.
-
Which channel is the draw on?
-
Which channel is the draw on?
Sky
-
Which channel is the draw on?
Sky
I’m watching Sky. It’s not on the channels the live matches were on, or Sky Sports News. Unless I’m early?
-
Any idea what time?
-
If we (ball 2) is drawn out anywhere but fourth, 7th or 8th, we are playing away. Those three are the home spots.

-
It’s on after the adverts on the channel the Grimsby game was on.
-
Pre draw? What the fuck is that?
-
Any idea what time?
Or what day?
-
Sky Sports main event
-
Note: we can still draw Palace as Conference League doesn’t start until October so they're not seeded.
-
It’s going to be palace or Everton
-
Too complicated for me to understand at this time of night,
-
complicated or what
-
Note: we can still draw Palace as Conference League doesn’t start until October so they're not seeded.
The way their going, they'll still be making the draw
-
Fcuk off Arsenal.
-
Pre draw? What the fuck is that?
Exactly the same as last year. UEL and UCL are kept seperate because of the alternating weeks we could be playing. But as those teams are drawn seperately, this mini draw randomises home and away.
-
This is rigged.
-
chavski with their normal easy one
-
Brentford away
-
Fuck off
-
Oh fuck off.
-
ffs
-
So it's Brentford.
-
Come on Dave P, change the thread title.
-
tott v doncaster and we get that
-
Their strongest team against whatever we decide to put out!
-
FFS the new palace
-
Every other European side got an easy tie.
-
Just as a bad as Palace but a bit less travel.
-
Absolutely shite.
-
Maybe Emery will setus up to try to attack them this time around.
-
so we get the hardest one out of the euro teams
-
Will Brentford play their first team? If so we are probably out as Unai almost certainly won't.
-
Urgh. Oh well a chance to correct an abysmal performance.
-
That's an annoyingly shitty (and boring) draw.
-
Every other European side got an easy tie.
Man Utd at Grimsby should have been an easy tie!!
-
fuck me boys and girls REVENGE !!!
-
Come on Dave P, change the thread title.
👍🏻
-
Some people need to man up, bring it on!
-
How is it revenge? We didn't lay a glove on them and they were a little less shite.
-
I blame stan laurel picking them.
-
They were shite, easy
-
Routine win
-
fancied port vale too with darren moore
-
Alexa, can we have a really tough draw away to a team we have just lost to. Make it a pain in the arse to get to and at a ground with a miniscule away end. Thanks.
-
Tbh we never even try to win this competition so not worth getting worked up about. Would rather see Brentford win a trophy than Man U.
Europa League is our best chance of silverware as we know Unai will try to win that.
-

On a school night.

But please don’t make it Palace
-
Not one but TWO people quoting me with that spelling error even though somebody on here made a post about how to spell said word including its etymology on here the other week. What a nightmare.
-
Potentially 4 away games in a row during September. Everton(A) Brentford(A) Sunderland(A) Europa match 1 (?)
-

Us and Everton are the only two clubs to be drawn away to a PL team. We're winning a cup this season and its going to have to be done the hard way. Europa and Carabao cup double would be nice.
-
Surely it's a can, rather than a cup?
-

If it helps, I had also pointed out that Falkirk once paid the World record transfer fee for a footballer (in the Friday Night Quiz thread).
*TBF it was in October 2020.
-
FFS. I was having a decent evening and now it's in tatters.
*waits for someone to tell me that there is no double t in the middle of "tatters" because it derives from Tacitus, or some such nonsense.
-
Deflating draw, but Saturdays result was the first time we’ve lost to them in 7 attempts.
Feck em.

Just need to win, and get Sheff Weds or Grimsby in the next round.
Hope we get better luck in Friday's draw.
-
Hoping it'll be on the Wed. Want to go and see the U21's at Crawley the Tue night
-
What a horrible draw.
-
Rubbish, uninspiring draw, although someone has to play them I suppose.
4th priority so expect a rookie team and early exit.
-

Yep, we don’t have the squad to cope with this competition.
-
Can we even field a rookie team?
-
Not the best draw we could have had.
-
I know we have a bit of a mentality that everything/everyone is against us, but that draw doesn't really do anything to dispel it does it?
-
But in our last cup draw we got the lowest ranked team we could have got. In the round before that we got the only remaining team that wasn't in the Premier League and the round before that we got League One-bound Cardiff at home. We've had plenty of years of shit draws, but don't think we can complain about 2025 in that respect.

That is a very fair point. The fates conspired to give us the best chance of winning the cup, only for us to Villa it up!!

Just as well it's away: I won't feel obliged to get a ticket now.
-
They’ll go on the attack as we’ll have a weaker team. That will help us providing we defend properly.
-
The only way we can have a weaker side is if we play the U21s.

the way Grimsby played against Man U - fuck that.

They'll be at Crawley on the Tue in the Trophy
-
Why is it taking so long to confirm the dates for the R3 ties?...I know, TV, yeah, but they've had over 48 hrs now...
-
Probably waiting to have European ties confirmed first.
-
Probably waiting to have European ties confirmed first.
Ok they're done now...and still radio silence...
-
It was confirmed five days after the draw last time. It'll be today or in the next few days I imagine.
-
Game is Tuesday 16th September KO 8pm, live on Sky
-
Glad we are on but that's a dreadful pick by Sky.
-
They've picked it as there's a potential shock, us scoring.
-
Possible we might score one if we can take it to penalties, I suppose.
-
Ah for goodness sake, why is it on the same night as the U21s Vertu Trophy match?
-
Checked last season's fixtures and Everton, Fulham and Chelsea all had first team games the same day as their under-21s played in the Leyland Daf, so it doesn't look like they will move the fixture. Sorry 😕.
-
Glad we are on but that's a dreadful pick by Sky.
They're showing all the games aren't they?
-
They usually have a main match on the channels with all the razzmatazz, then the others you have to find. So maybe we are classed as the main one.
-
Glad we are on but that's a dreadful pick by Sky.

You're correct, though we are the "main event" on that night. I think the Daft Cup games are on too so die-hards will be able to flick between the two or watch on a second screen.
-
As shit as we were brentford are definitely beatable if we decide to turn up
-
I envisage a weakened team being fielded for this match.
-

-
Good price. Well done, Brentford.
-
Great ticket prices.
-
Do you think this will get down to season ticket holders with no away history
-
Do you think this will get down to season ticket holders with no away history
I very much doubt it.
-
Do you think this will get down to season ticket holders with no away history
No chance.
-
Has anyone received their Brentford away (Carabao) tickets yet? Think I am right in saying that these are paper tickets rather than digital. We haven’t received ours yet. With only four days between today and the day of the game (and one of those is a Sunday) if AVFC are shipping them out by post they are cutting it fine.
-
I would have thought they were electronic as Brentford are in the Prem and they are all being pushed for that. How were the away ticket sent the other week?

In the post...

Were still available on the Monday night but all gone by Tuesday morning when I logged on. Bit gutted as find it virtually impossible for league away games. Hopefully we’ll get through and get a good away draw with a big away allocation
-
I've had tickets come today. Assume they're Brentford

Yeah same logged in Tuesday at 9.00 all sold out
-
Given we are in a relegation battle, I'm sure Unai will put the kids out!
Just kidding.
