One day in 1989 I asked her to lend me some money for this bright idea I'd had. I never did pay her back and I won't have to now.
She was a cantankerous, arsey old sod but I couldn't help liking her.

Condolences Dave.

Sincere condolences Dave to you, your family and her friends. RIP Mrs W.

Very sorry for your loss, mate.

-
So sorry to hear that Dave.

I my Mum died when I was 15 and I have scant memories of her (sadly) but my Dad passed when I was in my late 40s, and I have a virtual Dad that I am deeply aware of, treasuring all the positive times and skipping over the few bad ones (when I was a child he threatened that if I started talking with a Brummie accent he'd beat me).
All that whiffle is meant to say that you'll sort the good from bad times. Just a matter of when. Honest.

Really sorry for your loss, Dave.

Sorry for your loss Dave. She will always be with you. I know mine is everytime I make a cup of tea or refuse to break my routine.
We are our Mother's sons.

I know they go and we all will but losing your mum at any age is a big loss. There are things I have always done and continue to do because of my mum no doubt you're similar. Wish you all the best for the arrangements and your duty.

Only just seen this.
So sorry to hear of your loss Mr Woodhall.
I think of her every day and, of course, so will you, with great fondness. Enjoy her cantankerousness...
My mom was her works' shop steward and didn't suffer fools, including us kids!
She would never say "wait 'til your Dad gets home"...Dad was a soft touch, but we never messed with Mom!

Thanks to everyone who has written on here, messaged, emailed, texted, rang. It's nice to know you're not alone.

Thinking purely in Larry David terms, there's got to be a statute of limitations on condolences, surely? Like saying 'Happy New Year' in March.

It was her funeral today. Thanks to everyone who came; I can tell you that Mac and Dave Cooper are still alive.

It was her funeral today. Thanks to everyone who came; I can tell you that Mac and Dave Cooper are still alive.
Hope it was a dignified and, as far as possible, a joyous send-off, Dave.
As difficult as it is, I always think a funeral should be a celebration of a life lived.
