It's rather upsetting having to cheer on Manchester United
We had better win this. But with the new manager bounce...
-
Think this will be an edgy away win with a Euro hangover . 0-1 away win.
-
This is a potential banana skin - new (old) manager, post Euro hangover. If we play to our ability we’re obviously much better, but we need to turn up.
-
I was really hoping Southampton wouldn't be down by this fixture, as it so often happens that teams start playing a bit more freely once the inevitable has actually happened. And they'll also have the potential bounce of a new face (existing coach) in the dugout.
I'd expect an improvement from them on recent performances, but hopefully not enough to deprive us of a win. We can't let the Champions League derail our season. The good news is we have a lot of fresh legs to pick from, so tiredness should not be a big factor.
-
New manager bounce or not, failure to win this one would be the worst result of the season.

They’re bottom of the league for a good reason- they’re shit.
Saints 0 - 3 Villa

I actually think it works in our favour, they're 'free' to play more openly and we'll enjoy more space as a result.

What are you going on about? After we were officially relegated, we started playing like Brazil.
Alan Brazil... now.

Oh without a doubt. For a whole host of reasons, but we got a taste of the level last night we need to get back and winning this is essential to that goal.
-
After PSG, the Southampton players will look like statues in comparison. Should be a comfortable win (3-1).

The contrast could not be greater between arguably the smoothest, quickest team in Europe to the disaster that is the worst team in the PL. We just need to be 100% focused and professional and not take anything for granted and batter them.
-
Great opportunity for Watkins to recapture some form . Chance for Barkley to stretch his legs too.
-
It’s been a while, a long long while, but I’ll be at the match. A 50th birthday treat from my kids. The tickets came through today. However I’m not sure if I will let my daughter who arranged it know, but I’m in the home stand. She thought she got me an away ticket. I did wonder how that would be possible! Anyway, I still can’t wait, I’ll just have to behave!
UTV!

Hope you have an enjoyable time (and I much better one than when I’ve been to Southampton to watch Villa!).

Time to forget PSG. Absolutely no slip ups or complacency this weekend Villa

I've done the home end there a couple of times , it's fine .
-
Up to ten changes possibly, and we still should be good enough. Some players’ last chance for a rest considering the next four games, but at least we’ve had that March mini-break and comfortable games v Preston and Brighton. Our freshness and eagerness of players to make their mark could be to our advantage.
Bailey’s fit again isn’t he?

I’ve got a couple of tickets in the home end as well, they went on general sale last week, I think we should be near the away fans, but we’ll be sat on our hands in the game.
I hadn’t realised they would be relegated if they lost last week, but not sure it will make much difference to their fans outlook on the game.
-
It is fine in the home end. To be fair when I was last there we lost 4-1 so everyone in the home end - except me and my mate and, any other stealth Villa fans, was happy.

That was absolutely the best and funniest result that season, they come down to take the piss and we ended up dragging them down with us.
-
If we lose or draw this then we really need to have a word with ourselves. Batter the ever living fuck out of them and improve the GD

As a firm believer in sequences I was fearful that a positive result in France would mean the first setback in quite some time on the South Coast. That ship has now sailed so back to winning ways, a much changed side and a boost in the League ahead of Tuesday.
Despite Weds result I still believe we have momentum, there were plenty, including myself who feared a battering in Paris and it could still happen in the second leg but we are facing up to arguably, the best team in Europe in the QF of the CL. No-one really thought we'd get that far and even an exit next week will see us holding our heads high.
We are in the midst, and will continue with a rollocking good finish to the season.
1-4
-
I am more worried about this game than Tuesday night which will take care of
Itself.
Emery has to get a performance from players that will know their selection probably excludes them from starting against PSG.

Southampton have been shyte but we will still have to work hard to get the 3 points. No complacency.
They are fighting for points to avoid being recorded as the 'worst Premier League team ever'. That's a distinction no player wants hanging around their neck.
0-2 to the boys in Claret and Blue.

Yup, I've made a last-minute decision to do the same. Most of my earliest Villa supporting was from the home end at Highfield Road, so should be a nice easy "quiet supporting" introduction for my seven year old.

You'd never be able to look Jan Bednarek in the eye next time you bump into him in Waitrose Winchester!

Whilst that's true, those players that face it are usually powerless to do much about it which is why they face it.

Archer will have the distinction of playing at two of the worst 5 Prem teams in back to back seasons. (knock us out the top five as well).

If we score I’ll cast an eye round for anyone trying not to grin and then determine if it’s Dave or Bosco!

I am nervous we will take our eye off the ball just expecting to turn up and win only for Jimmy Case and Glen Cockerill to teach us a lesson.
-
Good news is neither Mick Channon or Ivan Golac are likely to play tomorrow.

Does anyone know if there are any pubs in Stratford Upon Avon that might be showing this?

If available, Unai always starts Tielemans and Rogers in league games, and nearly always Konsa, so it will be interesting if he leaves them all out.
-
Unless we're changing the defence on Tuesday from the first leg, I can't see any good reason not play the same back five as Forest.
Definitely Mings and Onana in as Onuachu is about eleven feet tall.
-
Taking my 18 year old lad down with me for his first away game but we are in the home section (Chapel End/Family Section) near to the Away End. So we'll be undercover and sitting on our hands. Looks a great day weather wise too - where do the Villa normally congregate for a pre-match pint. I used to live by the old Dell and remember Bedford Place was popular back then but it's about half an hour walk from the new ground.

Not forgotten, AD. I was there and it was very amusing. I probably had a drink with you afterwards. But I was also at the 0-6 at home to Liverpool and most of the other 11 defeats which followed it

That inflatable barrage still makes me laugh - "You're going down with the Villa!"

Although, hadn't Newcastle also been relegated by that point?

Nope, they were relegated a few days later.
-
Time to put that Champions League thingy bob on the back burner for a few hours. We need to be playing in it next season as well. 1-3. We'll make hard work of it at first but run out winners. Malen, Ascensio and Ollie. Glenn Cockerill for them.
-
We have to keep their version of Kvaratskhelia quiet. Do that and the rest should follow.

They were the only team to fail to beat us that season, weren't they? 2 draws
2-0 today, I think, btw

Slight argument we relegated them again, although they would have had to put 8 against us I believe.

Inexplicably, he was one of the first posters on my wall, Glenn Cockerill. It was the first time I'd ever bought a football magazine and I thought you were meant to take all the posters out and hang them up regardless of who you supported and which club the bloke played for!
-
It was definitely the day that ultimately fucked them. Sunderland had the massive psychological boost that day, they went back above them and then twatted Everton in midweek in their game in hand and that was that.
-
I for one will enjoy not having to play against Kvaratskhelia for once.

We're showing our age Eamonn.

I think the quality of Asensio is key. His ability to find space is something hard work can’t really counter.

We'll win. Just can't bring myself to want Fernandez and his fellow band of pricks to win. Goldbridge is fast becoming my comedy hour every weekend.

Bar maybe Cit-eh, I can see the others above us all winning so we need to get in, get the 2.0 victory sorted by 55 mins and start rotating
