Post by: Toronto Villa on March 05, 2025, 12:17:20 PM
The games keep coming. Another very tough a place to go but we need to start winning games in the league.

A shock clean sheet in a 1-0 win. Rashford with his first

MARTINEZ
GARCIA
KONSA
DISASI
DIGNE
KAMARA
MCGINN
TIELEMANS
ROGERS
MALEN
RASHFORD

SUBS: MINGS, PAU, OLSEN, ASENSIO, BAILEY, CASH, MAATSEN, JJ, ZYCH

I'd go with Ramsey over Rashford, and perhaps Mings and Disasi at centre-half.

Should have everyone available except the mysterious Onana and Barkley. Emery needs to mix and match to give us the best chance of 3 points followed by keeping Bruges at bay on the Wednesday. I'd expect Garcia and Malen to both start v Brentford, give Watkins a break on the bench. Although Ollie does have a good record against his old club.

2 1 to us.

Barkley did a ligament in his knee, so being out for a couple of months isn't all that mysterious.

Not everything needs to be a conspiracy. There are Doctors and physios helping to make a decision with the player regarding treatment and recovery time. And that’s before we get to the manager who has to agree the time is right to introduce that player to training and games. There is the desire or need to play them vs the long term health considerations. Mings likely came back too soon and he’s had his ups and downs since. Cash even said the same last night after the game but he got through it. And there is the players own body and how it recovers. So just because a player doesn’t come back in the window we think is appropriate isn’t some mystery or cover up. It’s very likely lots of factors combined guided by many opinions from professionals at the club.

If malen is better think he will start ahead of Bailey, also think Asensio may start, possibly ahead of Rogers, Ramsey may start ahead of Rashford, then swap them all round on 60 odd mins.

Id probably take a draw here

I've no time for Brentford Nylons and their horrible G-Tech Superdome or whatever it's called and they have been a thorn in our side back to the days in the Championship so I tend to approach these games with trepidation.

Two more games until we get a well deserved break, a bit of rotation here with Weds in mind and I can see us getting a result. We need to stay in touch with 5th so that when we return to League action in April we storm up the table with a late run. Draw will be ok but a win it is.

2-1

Horrible ugly team, don’t concede ( wishful thinking) because they will delay and shithouse their way through to 90+minutes.
We need to start bettering the results of  Bournemouth Brighton Newcastle Fulham Chelsea Citeh.
I think we need a win but we have failed to do that 7 out of 8 after playing in Europe.
We will score but so will they. 3 1 to them

For our continued and long term growth it is crucial we win tomorrow. After our abysmal recent league form we are very, very lucky to still be in with a shout for a Champions League spot next sesaon.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. We now have the strength in depth and quality. Go for victory Unai, all guns blazing.

Mee was sent off for being his normal dirty bastard. Then late on Emi decided to needlessly get involved lucky not to get a red, with Kamara unfortunately getting a really really soft one for trying to get one of their players to look back at him.

Will be close enough to the starting line up. Mings will be rested for the CL and Cash likely still on naughty step after his row with Emery during the week. Will be interesting to see how Torres goes. Maatsen might also come in again at left back. Digne was poor during the week.

As much as many of us are keen to see Malen given a go, Id be stunned if Watkins didn't start up top. Bailey will start again I think on the right. Ramsey on left and Asensio might get the nod over Rogers.

That all stemmed from that Bailey back pass from halfway which was almost OG of the season , then the altercations started with dwarf and Martinez and it rumbles on from there .

It’s weird I had much more confidence for a Champions League away game than this. I just can’t see anything other than a loss here - hope I’m proved to be massively wrong.

Can't see anything but a loss?

What a ridiculous thing to say!
Why, it’s his opinion.
I couldn’t predict it.

It's a stupid opinion then because we won there last season and we are currently above them in the table.

So, to see nothing but a loss doesn't make any logical sense.

I guess PaulWinch again doesn't understand logic.

We've also lost the vast majority of games that we've played after a Champions League match this season.

It would be useful to break that very unwanted record today. That and conceding on the opponents first shot. 18 times and counting I believe. Two very unenviable records for a side still only a few points outside the top 4, and in the latter stages of two major cup competitions.

We tend to lose away, we tend to lose after Champions League games. It’s hardly a huge logic leap. I hope I’m wrong, but this season’s trends suggest it won’t be a good one. Like I say I hope (and would be delighted if) I’m wrong.

Hope for a positive performance having seen the team.  Guessing Emi & Asensio have niggles being rested for Wednesday.
