The club have announced plans for a store in Bullring opening in May. Fantastic step. Right next to Selfridges, we need that sort of presence in the best shopping place in the city.

I’m amazed this doesn’t exist already. Randy opened one near New Street but it didn’t last long.
I guess, this compliments the objective of turning us into a fashion(able) brand with collaborations with bands, artists etc,.
-
I'd imagine the 'Noses will make it a target for abuse just like they did with the one on New St during the famous "Futile Search For Sherlock St".

I did like the new street store, but mostly because you could buy match tickets upstairs.

ha that wont happen again !!

Having Adidas as our kit partner opens up a lot more options for stuff to sell too.
-
Aren't JD retail partners too? I'd imagine they'd have a say in the layout and stock etc.
-
Our world domination is not ready yet
Just been to Tenerife and neither JD or Adidas stores in Las Americas area had any Villa gear in there.
I watched the Spurs game in an Irish bar, in Las Americas and no other Villa fan (or Spurs to be honest) were present
We need to up our game with the tourists

This was mentioned at an FCG last season. It's not about profit, it's to bring in extra turnover.

Interesting and a good strategy. If the shop is primarily a vehicle to increase turnover and the brand then they can be creative with it.
Nike Town on Oxford Circus is Nike’s flagship store in the UK. They’re increasing the floorspace but reducing the actual retail areas. Havent seen the plans but I’m told the priority is to sell Nike as a lifestyle brand rather than sell units of trainers or whatever.
We can do similar.

The first one in town was in the Pavilions basement if memory serves.

Yep, used to get tickets from there all the time.

DEFIANT Blues fans took to the streets in protest against the decision not to allow an open-top bus tour through Birmingham to mark the team’s Carling Cup win.
Despite fans last week claiming thousands would gather for their own unofficial celebration, only around 100 gathered in the city centre’s Victoria Square having walked there in small groups following the civic reception at St Andrew’s yesterday.
They then marched through the streets, chanting: “We’re Birmingham City, we’ll do what we want,” as bewildered shoppers looked on.
They stopped outside Aston Villa FC’s official shop on New Street, where they shouted and swore to workers inside, before heading on through Bullring shopping centre up to the Chinese Quarter and along Hurst Street.
They started to disband after getting lost and failing to find Sherlock Street, where they had planned to end their protest over Birmingham City Council’s decision not to hold a parade due to health and safety reasons.
Andrew Henry, a 21-year-old trainee social worker, of Sheldon, attached a huge Blues flag to the columns of the Council House.
“I know I am speaking on behalf of every Birmingham City FC supporter when I say I am disappointed we didn’t get an open-top bus parade,” he said.
Brendan Anderson, 46, a builder of Bartley Green, who was in Victoria Square with his son Liam, 12, added: “I can’t believe we have been denied this parade, it’s a disgrace.”
Carer Kevin Roberts, aged 45, of Yardley, said: “I think it’s appalling. The official celebration was pathetic It would have been much better to have done something last week. It’s spoilt it for me really. It’s like we never won.”

And if they do it will just prove what a pathetic little small time fanbase they are. I'm sure they will have security on the entrance.

A bona fide classic from the always growing book of The Gift that keeps on giving.
I remember someone doing a 100 reasons to laugh at small heath article in the paper fanzine back in the day, that must have doubled or trebled since that was written.

Always makes me smile.
Literally the greatest moment in their history, and still they find time to stop 'outside Aston Villa FC’s official shop on New Street, where they shouted and swore to workers inside'.
Still, I have to give it to them. They have won a trophy more recently than us.
Their 'propah Brummies', 'drink in town', 60k stadium with a bizarre tunnel is nonsense. They know that just as we do.
But I'm 36 and I think I'd celebrate for about three days if we won the League Cup again.
It's something we need to rectify.

Was in the Bullring earlier today and was trying to work out where it will be, as I'm sure I read somewhere that it will be over two floors.

I remember getting my first ever Villa shirt from Harry Parkes by the Law Courts way back when. My Mom had to sew the badge on
-
So?
*(sic) Sew?

One floor with a mezzanine in it.

I remember the shop we had in the Pavilions back in the door, back when town was actually worth visiting.

It's still well worth visiting. I am sorry that you have a negative view of our city centre.

It will be good to see another club shop in town I used to go in the old one a lot.

Spot on. I enjoy going into town these days. Some lovely bars and restaurants there now. I don't understand why so many people continue to run it down, and in my opinion it's far better than it was when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s.

That's true. Back then it was deserted but for two or three nights of the week. It now seems to be bustling all of the time.

Still, it takes more than that to lure people away from the bright lights and stump-like family trees of Kingsbury.

Tht's right. I grew up in Ladywood so I was in and out of town all the time. Come 5.30pm it was dead.
-
I wrote a bit called "how to be a Zulu" that appeared in the zine, and then went round on emails.
-
Stump-like family tree, brilliant!
-
Deadly had a book signing at the old Villa shop in the Pavilions; it was the day after we lost to Doncaster.
-
I bet that boosted the sales figures!
-
I bet he put the pen back on the shelf to be sold afterwards.
-

Same here, used to love going to Harry Parke’s’ shop, always smelt of dubbin and leather, on two floors on the corner up from the Law Courts. I’m pretty sure he also had an outlet in Solihull.

The door handle was a cricket bat.
-
Dick Taylor was my go-to for all things Villa and football related. First Villa kit from there, with separate badge to sew on.
Pair of vinyl Terry Cooper trainers with coloured sections corresponding with different foot skills/shots.
-
Oh for the days when we had a shelf in Birthdays. And the rest of the floor was Man Utd stuff.
-
Some pictures online of the shop development. Seems to be on the ground floor under the Tommy Hilfiger shop if people know where that is. I think it might be at the M&S end closest to New Street Station.

Many thanks

Yes as long as you take the receipt, though you may not even need that.
-
Why could this not be opened sooner?
it doesn’t make sense for May and season ending

They need to fit the store out. Get stock sorted, recruit staff, sort the lease with the landlord and not do it half-arsed.
-
And had to wait for a suitable spot to become available - in retail location is everything

Nice one, thanks mate.

Why did they get rid of the old store at new street in city centre ?
was it cost effective?
I think with the merger with Adidas it will do a lot of good sales.
In london there is a PSG store on Oxford street.
-

Alhtough tbf, availability of decent retail locations isn't a problem these days, not like it once was anyway.
-
The John Lewis should have stayed at Grand Central
-
Be good to have a sort of small ticket office in there too.
The old shop on New St had one which was handy rather that having to cross the city to get VP ticket office .

Yeah and it's always empty each time I walk past it. May as well be a money-laundering front like the Oxford St sweetie and souvenir shops.

Wasn't it something to do with the rent or I might have imagined that.

In the early 2000s the one we used to have right at the bottom of the Palisades couldn't be more hidden from general public view if you could try it!
Sure H&V at the time described as as Santa's Grotto store!
-
Doug doing something on the cheap and botching it…. Never!
