A bit of light relief from Dave Collett.

I remember being sat chatting to Savo and Sasa in the treatment room at Bodymoor and Savo telling me they had both been to the cinema together 3 times to see Independence Day and were planning to go again, they loved it so much.
I still haven't seen Independence Day 2 and I feel like I've let them down.

Interesting article from DC, as you would expect. Curcic was a very good player who had issues.
We also signed Alan Thompson from Bolton. I watched a bio of him a few years ago, and he didn't even mention Villa.

Thompson was a great guy though.

It talks about the league cup game away at Leeds. We played them in the league a week or so before. A 2-0 win and Sasa was probably the best player on the pitch.

Great video. Bozzy in the aftermath of his ill advised salute to Spurs fans. How he avoided a ban I'll never know.

These days, he would have banned for the season.
I was intrigued at the time, and did some research into the Croatian community in certain parts of Australia. Then I was not surprised overmuch.

I was excited when he signed, I thought he’d be great. But then again I thought Alan Thompson would be as well ( I think from memory he missed a penalty and his form massively dipped from there )
Wasn’t there a rumour that Curcic wanted a set number of “female companions “ as part of his contract. Maybe not at Villa, but I’m sure I remember that.

I still don't think he did that at the Spurs fans. He'd had that clash with Klinsmann earlier in the season and think he was (ill advisedly) referring to him in a 'John Cleese don't mention the War' type of way.

He once gave an interview to the Serbian tabloid Informer. In it, he spoke about his love life.
"Naomi Campbell was an ardent Crystal Palace fan. Once she came to a game and later we met in the VIP bar. After a couple of weeks I had a party and invited her. Soon we started seeing each other, but she didn't want to have sex right on the first date, she's a difficult woman. It was only after the twentieth date that she agreed to sleep with me," he began.
"We had sex about thirty times. The top is in bed, but I'm squeamish about women's hair. When I see them in the apartment, my life gets boring, and Naomi left them everywhere. She was terribly messy, like all models. She doesn't take off her makeup, but goes to bed. Disgusting. I immediately kick them in the ass and tell them to sleep on the balcony. In addition to being sloppy, she sniffed a lot, so I often had incidents with her. She insulted the housekeepers, threw an ashtray at them, cursed them... She also caused scandals in discos and I decided to stop that story,"
"I've also been with Eva Herzigova, but Carmen Electra is the best in sex. I had stunts with her until seven in the morning at the pool. She's the insanest."
He also revealed how he met Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of US President Donald Trump. It happened when he received an invitation to play for the American MetroStars.
"I immediately agreed. The manager told me: 'Wait until I tell you what the conditions are, and I told him: 'No, I pay to go there.' They sent me a VIP Business Class plane ticket, which cost £5,000. I got a seat above the pilot with a minibar and a bartender. We boarded the flight, and on the same plane was Ivana, Donald Trump's wife. I didn't recognize her, I only heard about Trump, a successful businessman at the time," he said, adding that a month later he organized a party in honor of Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman.
"I told them: 'I'm the new name of the football scene and we need to get to know each other.' When they saw me, they said that I looked like everything except a football player. Prince also came to my party, but I had to kick him out. The little one arrived with seven bodyguards and immediately attacked my models. He had a lollipop in his mouth, he was cocky and disgusting. I asked Ivana Trump if she remembered me, she replied in the affirmative. I drank a little more and wanted to be with her, but she had a guard. We remained friends,"

That was a great read. I liked Sasa, thought he was great buy for us, also Alan Thompson. One of my favourite periods of supporting us
-
I saw Sasa and Savo together on New St. Curcic was like a dog on heat, all but sniffing at every young woman that passed. Savo looked mortified and was clearly telling him to rein it in.

Must be something in that Balkan water.
