As per normal, if we're looking for a major winner from our Isles this year, Rory will be the favourite, but if you're looking for someone else then Robert MacIntyre might be your man, as well as winning the Scottish Open, he also had his first win on the PGA tour last year. It would help them, if both Scheffler and Schauffele picked up unfortunate injuries, which kept them out for the season!
-
Tyrrell Hatton started the year in good form winning the Dubai Desert Classic, normally I would be pleased, when a Brit wins, but he's a LIV golfer, so couldn't care less.
-
Good start to the year for Rory winning the Pebble Beach Pro-Am by 2 shots from Shane Lowry.
-
I'm reading LIV Golf is to be broadcast live on ITV this year, I'm a big golf fan, but I have no interest in LIV golf and will not be watching it.

Me neither but it sounds as though Trump is brokering a solution :-) as if professional golf should be on his agenda as president

Tiger Woods says Donald Trump's involvement will help golf 'heal quickly'.

Not sure there will be much acrimony in reality…the good players who stayed on PGA tour have had more access to prize money without likes of De Chambeau & Koepka about…watching yesterday Aberg pulled $4m for winning and more guys have had chances to win.
Just a shame that it will bring the twats like Mickelson back to the main tour….LIV has been great to not have to his gurning mug pretty much ever

J J Spaun birdie putt comes within inches of winning The Players, he now goes into a 3 hole play off with Rory tomorrow starting 1pm our time.

Minor irritation with golf is the seemingly "house rules" for a playoff. Some tournaments do 1 hole, others do 4 and some do a full round. These jokers are doing 3 holes. I don't get why it isn't consistent?
-
Helped by a triple bogey from Spaun on the 17th, Rory wins the '5th' major, big question is can he win a major this year?
-
Nice that Rory won it on St Patrick's Day (as he did in 2019). He might have a drink or two tonight.
-
Viktor Hovland wins the Valspar Championship, his first victory since August 2023, good also to see 2 English winners, Richard Mansell on the DP World Tour and Mimi Rhodes on the Ladies European Tour, both first time winners.
-
Tiger Woods confirms he's in a relationship with Vanessa Trump.
https://x.com/TigerWoods/status/1903951000781701415
-
Continuing her impressive form Mimi Rhodes wins the Joburg Open for her second consecutive tour title.
-
The Masters starts today and as usual the main question is can Rory finally gets his hands on the green jacket. I've heard some people say his 4 year old daughter may have a better chance, which is a bit cruel.
He's 2nd favourite with the bookies at 13/2 behind Scheffler 9/2, Morikawa and Rahm 14s, DeChambeau 16, Adberg 18, Thomas 20 and Schauffle 22. England's best hope is Fleetwood at 33 and Scot MacIntyre is 45.
-
Good starts for Rose and McIlroy.
-
Yeah great start for Rose with a 65 leading by 3, Hatton and Rai also in the top 10.
-
Love Justin Rose. Fingers crossed for him.
-
Love Justin Rose. Fingers crossed for him.
You may need more than that. He's had the day 1 lead at the Masters something like 7 times.
-
Rose still leading, and Rory bounced back well after yesterday's late double bogeys. Lowry's in contention too. Any of those 3 winning it would do for me.
-
Superb stuff Rory, hopefully I will be saying that tomorrow night.
-
Hopefully. But with that birdie on the 18th from Bryson, just a 2 shot lead, and a crowd favourite with him in the final pairing. If i would bet on it, i would put money on Bryson. Fingers crossed Rory puts in a solid start and doesn't let Bryson psyche him out.
-
Superb stuff Rory, hopefully I will be saying that tomorrow night.
Still lots of golf to be played (I vividly remember 2011) but I'll be particularly pissed off if he loses it to Bryson DeChambeau.
-
Today's going to be box office with McIlroy and DeChambeau in the final pair. Two shot difference, last year's US open, weight of history on McIlroy, two big hitters. Can't wait.
-
FFS Rory 🫣
-
He's fallen to pieces already. After what happened in last years US open it looks a massive ask for him to compose himself now.
-
Oh dear, bunker then double bogey on the first and now bunker on the second.
-
Early days yet, but will be such a let down if McIlroy collapses and DeChambeau pulls a few shots clear early. This SHOULD be one for the ages.
-
Ok he's back in the game now. Good birdie
-
One shot ahead now. Good stuff.
-
Great recovery.
-
3 in front now... what an opening 4 holes
-
It's going fine but it would be nice to see Rory hitting some fairways.
-
Four ahead going onto the back nine.
-
Just keep it up Rory. Things are also getting very interesting with the pack behind on -9 and -8.
-
Oh Rory!
The only consolation if he does blow it is that Rose would be the likely winner.
-
Oh Rory!

Hmm, Scheffler and DeChambeau are lurking though.
And Rose feels the pressure now too, bogeying the 17th.
-
What an incredible shot that is from Rory
-
3 way tie at 10 under but Rory has just played an absolute beauty to the 15th
-
Muffed his eagle, but takes the lead at -11. This is tense stuff
-
That shot on the 15th, under that pressure, is outrageous. I really, really hope he does this today. This is brilliant.
-
Brilliant round from Rose. Shame he and Rory can't share a green jacket.
-

If he doesn't do it today, he probably never will.
-
Oh Rory......
-
Playoff. Eek.
-
Can't see anything other than a Rose win now.
-
Win, win with this playoff. Would prefer McIlroy, but seeing Rose win it would be great too.
-
Golf, such a boring game to watch.
-
Yesssss, Rory does it. Career Grand Slam at long last.
-
Finally! Good on yer Rory
-
Never thought he would do it, brilliant Rory.
-
For me personally, as far as sport goes, Villa aside, that will never be beaten.
-
Awesome golf all day long.
-
Can't see anything other than a Rose win now.
So glad I was wrong
-
Yes Rory!!
Brilliant Justin, kept him honest
-
Good on yer Rory
Not a phrase we often see on H&V. ;)
-
That took some serious cojones from Rory. It always amazes me how they can perform under such pressure.
Hard lines on Justin Rose, tough for him to lose a second Masters playoff. What a tournament that was though!
-
Weird what you well up over, but I couldn't stop it. Getting yourself together after missing on 18, fair fucks.
-
Seeing his emotions on winning, you'd worry for him had he lost.
-
For me personally, as far as sport goes, Villa aside, that will never be beaten.
Last night was great, but nothing will ever top Medinah 2012 for me.
-
PGA starts today, if it's half as good as the Masters it'll be worth watching.
Rory favourite at 17/4, Scheffler 19/4, DeChambeau 15/2, Rahm and Thomas 18, Schauffele 20, Aberg and Morikawa 22.
-
It got very interesting, when Rahm caught up with Scheffler, but Scheffler kept his nerve and soon regained his lead and was then very solid to the end.
-
Since his Masters win Rory has been in terrible form, so with Oakmont considered by many to be the toughest of the US Open courses, it's not looking too good for him. He will probably either miss the cut by miles or end up winning his 2nd major of the year.
Obviously Scheffler is the favourite 11/4, DeChambeau 7, Rory 14, Adberg 16, Schauffle 20, Morikawa and Niemann 25 and Lowry 30.
-
Looks like there's gonna be a first time major winner, Adam Scott is the only major winner in the top 10 and that was his Masters win 12 years ago and has not won on the PGA tour for 5 years. Sam Burns is the favourite, but I'm going for Hovland to win his first major.
-
What an amazing finish to what has been am amazing final day, well done JJ.
-
On the 18th tee with a one shot lead, Tommy Fleetwood has 3 putts on the green and ends losing by a shot to Keegan Bradley. It would have been his first win on the PGA tour.
-
As The Open returns to Royal Portrush, all Irish eyes will be on Rory, who seems to be finding his best form, and of course Shane Lowry, who famously lifted the Claret Jug there in 2019. Apart from Rory, if you're looking for a home win, Robert MacIntyre, who narrowly missed out on taking JJ Spaun to a playoff at the US Open, maybe a good bet.
-
The good news is, it doesn't clash with a Test match.
-
Hon Rory and Shane, although I may have to settle for the course and crowd living up to the billing.
-
Rose would be my choice to win. Probably be one of the lesser known American players though.
-
Hatton has a major in him. Don't know when, but I think it'll come.
-
Rose would be my choice to win. Probably be one of the lesser known American players though.
Unfortunately it looks like a very well known American is favourite now.
-
Anyone but Scheffler please, FFS. Personality vacuum.
-
Superb from Scheffler, sadly not superb for the rest of us.
-
He's kind of like what Pete Sampras was to tennis. Can't help but admire the talent, but zero personality almost robotic.
-
Great effort from Charley Hull, but sadly the wait for her first major continues.
-
Superb from Justin Rose, after a final round of 67, which included 5 birdies in the last 7 holes, he went on to win the St Jude Championship in Memphis, beating JJ Spaun on the 3rd hole of a play off. Sadly for Tommy Fleetwood, having once again being leading, with a few holes to go, his long wait for a 1st PGA win goes on.
-
Rose is a class act. I don't know where Fleetwood goes from here. He needs mental help at the least to copy with last round pressure.
-
At last after 164 starts and twice in the last few weeks blowing leads, Tommy Fleetwood finally wins on the PGA tour.
-
Rory wins the Irish Open playoff, after tying it on the 18th with a 25 foot eagle putt
-
We got tickets in the ballot for the last day of the Open at Royal Birkdale next year.
-
Doing the proam at Wentworth this week…Rory & Tommy will take the crowds no doubt :-)
-
Come on Europe you can do it, it's gonna be a very tough challenge, but I'm sure it's gonna be a big improvement on our last 2 efforts on US soil.
-
The presence of Trump, and the expected legions of his supporters at the course makes me want Europe to prevail against these boorish oafs even more than ever.
-
Great start for Europe.
-
It's all gone a bit quiet from the home crowd.
-
2-0 Forgot what that felt like.
-
Very good first day. If they can share the points today, Europe would just need 4.5 points to retain the Cup.
-
Second day going well so far, the gobshite fans seem pretty subdued at the moment.
-
Bloody brilliant, Europe.
-
Brilliant captaincy by Luke Donald. 5.5 to retain.
-
No away team has won the first three sessions since 1979. It's going better than expected. 8)
-
Some proper wankers there, no manners and no class, fucking Trump nation.
-
The home crowd has so far seen their team being soundly beaten.
The personal abuse is all they've got left.
-
Classless twats. Hope Rory gets the winning putt tomorrow and just bows.
-

I think they're just a bit pissed up. Some of them have had 3 or 4 cans of Coors Light.
-
Who'd have thought having an unapologetically boorish ****** as leader would lead to more boorish cuntishness at this kind of event
-
We're all MAGA today, Make American Golfers Angry.
-
Classless twats. Hope Rory gets the winning putt tomorrow and just bows.
Will only happen if he goes out in one of the first couple of games.
-
It’s compulsive viewing, and I’m enjoying Europe doing so well!
-
The "get in the hole" American golf idiots are right up there as some of the most annoying sports fans in the world.
-
The Rory/Shane match was an epic encounter
-
Nice lead going into the last day. Almost a whitewash but for the last two holes in the one match.
-
The "get in the hole" American golf idiots are right up there as some of the most annoying sports fans in the world.
I heard some of the arses shout when Europe playing a shot, “get in the bunker” what morons.
Been so nice to see the boorish behaviour backfire.
Europe kicking maga arse.
-
Fantastic from Hatton and Fitzpatrick
-
Bradley looked a beaten man.
For all the skill and quality play on display, to beat a team backed by such a bunch of ficking wankers is very satisfying.
Credit to those players and fans that did try to retain some dignity.
-
I hate the "U.S.A" chant at an almost pavlovian level. They manage to make 3 letters sound moronic. It's quite the skill.
-
Epic golf again yesterday, the Europeans have now won all four sessions. I think that is by far the worst behaviour I have seen from the crowd at a golf tournament, which makes it feel even better watching the European score keep going up.
-
Brilliant stuff from Europe, but I'm not counting any chickens yet despite the lead. Singles has always been the strongest part of the US team's game, and if they start building big leads in the opening pairings things might get twitchy. Imagine the horror if this US team pulls off the greatest comeback ever, in front of this crowd.

Europe could name six H&Vers in the team (including SE and LeeB) and still win. If they can't get 2.5 points from 12 matches, then they don't deserve to retain the trophy.
-
They might only need 2 if Hovland is injured, i read that the match would be automatically halved if that's the case.
-
Yes, that's right. It happened before with, I think, Chip Beck.

Having spent some time over there and been to a few golf events, they certainly aren't all like that at all. I guess the Ryder Cup is one of the few big sporting events they care about where they compete as a country and it brings out a fair few of the "U-S-A" mentality idiots.
Makes you glad that they don't play other countries in their major sports tbh.

Correction....Steve Pate

There was plenty of "Fore right" shouts which got very boring.
A great moment was when Rory hit that great shot after telling a fan to STFU.
Someone shouted "In the bunker" just before he sailed over it, leaving himself a couple of feet from the pin.
-

The Olé, Olé, Olé, chant also gets a bit tedious after a while. I liked the 'He's in your head, in your head, Rory, Rory, Rory, Rory!' chant (Zombie).
-
Hovland injured so it's 12-5 now 🙌
-
Hovland injured so it's 12-5 now 🙌
Drat, another half point dropped.
-
Is it me or are the SKY commentary team being a bit downbeat here? Nick Faldo being extremely negative.
-
Isn't Faldo usually pretty downbeat unless he's talking about the achievements of Sir Nick Faldo?
-
It is getting a little too tight for my liking...
-
And that twat DeChambeau is going to turn his match around isn't he ...
-
Isn't Faldo usually pretty downbeat unless he's talking about the achievements of Sir Nick Faldo?
The way he's been talking the last couple of hours, the Europeans may as well pack their bags and head home now.
-
I mean ... the bottle job of all bottle jobs is looking on at the moment. Eek.
-
Certainly making harder work of it than we'd like.
-
Well done Ludwig
-
Bloody hell, this is so stressful.
-
To be fair, the Americans have been playing some unbelievable golf. Lowry and Hatton are the big hopes here I think.
-
Well it's not going to be Lowry sadly. It's a good day for people who like chino shorts, polo shirts and maga hats so far.
-
This is fucking horrible to watch. It feels inevitable now that we'll lose.
-
Some of the shots by the Americans on the 18th have been unreal.
-
Well it's not going to be Lowry sadly. It's a good day for people who like chino shorts, polo shirts and maga hats so far.
It will be Lowry! You beaut!
-
Fantastic Shane
-
Ha! Just had to be Shane Lowry.
-
Fuck me we’ve made hard work of this. However well done Shane.
-
Cometh the hour, cometh the Irish man. :)
-
One of these last 3 need to stand up now. Retaining it is nice but not to win would be truly abysmal with the lead going into today.
-
All I can say is thank goodness for Hovland's neck issue. What a valuable half that will turn out to be.
-
That was so stressful, ell done Shane Lowry, when others were wilting.
Let’s go and win it outright now.
-
At long last, 14.5 points. Europe win.
-
All I can say is thank goodness for Hovland's neck issue. What a valuable half that will turn out to be.
Indeed. I'm surprised there is no provision for substitutes.
-
Wonderful result for Europe! I’m very pleased for Lowry, who was being targeted by some of the crowd, yesterday.
It’s strange how the American team play so much better as individuals rather than in pairs.
-
Can only imagine the Americans had a few extra dollars in the contract to win singles matches because they were immense today. Had Europe lost it wouldn’t have necessarily been a bottle job, it just took USA 3 days to play to their strengths on a course set up to suit them, Friday & Saturday on their side were the massive bottle jobs :-)
Fair play to Aberg for actually winning a point, clutch from Shane to hole out & Hatton to bring it home.
As for the dregs & slobs supporting ‘who-ess-ayy’ with their nonsense….quack quack oops!!

Seeing them streaming out once Europe had got to 14 was a beautiful sight. Would have been even better if it have been even better if it had been accompanied with a few renditions of "You've seen the Europe, now f@ck off home" sending them on their way.
-

A sub would be more open to abuse than the envelope is.
Swapping a fatigued player who has played all 4 sessions for a totally fresh player Sunday will happen…
Envelope rule is fine, it just needs independent doc to examine and rule if a player is fit / not fit - if doc says they are fit then it’s a forfeit if they don’t play but if not fit then it’s a half…likewise an independent referee who adjudicates on other reasons for not being available ie 1993 when Peter Baker daughter was rushed into hospital, he made it back in time to play (& win) but if the same situation arose the ref decides if it’s an envelope situation.
