Honest question, though: that sense of fatalism/pessimism - has that always been a thing, from your experience? For those of us who weren't about, was it the case in the early '80s, for example?
Because I must admit to always having felt that way, but with a (self-fulfilling, perhaps) justification that the weight of evidence was on my side.

It’s always been there. To also lesser extent under Saunders because he made us all believe we were the best, and we were for a short while.
Since the European super cup win I’d say that left us and that coincided with a certain owner who destroyed what should’ve been a decade of success.
