The dicking about in the six yard box and the standing still football is probably here to stay. For a while. 'Too posh to push' was a description of the increased demand for cesarean deliveries from pregnant ladies (thank you Mumsnet). We've become a bit too posh to push.None of the players are in form at present but tilting the smug statuesque stuff in favour of a bit more of the SJM/JJ enterprise might cheer us all up. But as Dave implies our younger supporters have seen relegations and Cup disasters - and our older ones have seen league trips to Mansfield etc -  and FA Cup exits BEFORE the 3rd round. So it ain't all bad. In the meantime, bollockings all round.

It wasn't really a great day on all fronts. I've been leaning on Villa to prop my mental health up, but this run is hard to explain. What with Emery's much-vaunted attention to detail and planning, I'd assumed this sort of run, where we've played seemingly without a hope, would be a one-off at best or something to be fixed at half time.

It's come to something when Dave, normally so controlled in these circumstances, goes "Grrr". I'd be gnawing the leg off the kitchen chair if I had to write about last night.

That's a good point about the squad being fully fit bringing it's own problems. Continuity is vital for successful teams. Unai will definitely be working on it and i've no doubt in my mind he will sort it out soon and we'll go on an amazing run of form. As for big Ty he's got more than enough credit in the bank to forgive the momentary loss of his marbles.

One theory I heard during the evening’s post-mortem is that the squad strength we’ve been talking about might have proved Villa’s undoing since the host of injuries have cleared up. Last season the team was virtually unchanged week after week, more out of neccessity than anything, and the boss seemed to have a Saunders-like belief in picking his best players every match and arranging the tactics to suit them. This season, with its embarassment of riches, has seen that continuity gone, and with it perhaps the siege mentality that drive the team on to success.

Totally agree with this theory - i am not sure SUE knows his best team

He knows his best system and plays it, the players have to adapt and play in his system whoever they are. To me we are just suffering from opp loading the centre so we cant play through it, and our wide players being out of form so are unable to offer an alternative method of breaking them down.

It will come
