Still alive and well the thread should say. We all get worried when those of Villa past get mentioned on here.

Didn't he caretaker us after BFR left? Think it was the cracker at Spurs which ended 4-3.

Not sure when he left us but there was always confusion on WM years later with Paul Barron, goalkeeper coach in the late 90s, regularly referred to as "Jim" on their coverage.

Great to see he's still dedicated enough to be involved in non league at 80, Martin Tyler is close to that age now aswell.

Our most successful manager ever. 100% win record.

What a game that was as well, 3-0 up in no time, dragged back to 3-3 with their winner seeming inevitable only Deano to win it at the death with an absolute thunderbastard.

I sat next to him in the dugout during a game once. Blues vs Villa reserves at The Sty, one of my friends from school dared me. He said "alright mate" and I ran off.

Didn't we have a caretaker boss (Marshall?) who came in as a stop-gap after Lambert had been sacked? I think he was in charge for the cup game against Leicester in 2015, which we won 2-1.

Yes, that was his only game, though Sherwood sort of took over as manager at half-time.

Heard him on 5live earlier. He said we beat Spurs 5-3, not fact checked.

We had 5-2, 4-3 and 4-2 wins there within the space of a decade. I also managed to get them mixed up after the Everton game when I was trying to remember all our come from two goals down wins in the Premier League.

Going back to your earlier post CDB, Sherwood's intervention at half-time is supposed to have helped Villa to win.

Not often that a Sherwood tactical intervention has had that impact!

Sherwood definitely intervened but I’ll wager it wasn’t tactical!

Jim Barron now Assistant Manager at Bath City. Thought Villa fans may be interested in an interview that Bath City Radio did with Jim on his 81st birthday, looking back on his career including his time at Villa.
