A great read and brings out how special Gary Shaw was to us all as Villa fans. My sincerest sympathy to his family.

Thank you Dave. Indeed, trying to make sense of the emotions, the loss, the indescribable joy and pride that one of our own reached heights and achieved glory beyond what any of us dared dream. Thank goodness we are at home on the weekend.

Beautifully put, would make a fine funeral eulogy.
I wasn't even born when the fella was in his pomp but raised on nostalgia, this has still hit hard. He was the "coolest" symbol of the Villa's storied history.
-
Beautifully done mate.
-
Fantastic tribute Dave. Beautiful and moving.
-
That’s really lovely and says it all.
Thank you Dave
-
Very beautifully put, well done.
Makes you think, in another age, he could have had all that Beckham had. If he’d wanted that, and I’m not sure he would.
-
It’s certainly questionable what impact Lineker would have had if Gary had stayed fit.
I remember Tony Barton saying at an AGM how would Liverpool have coped with Rush and Souness injured when we had lost Gary and Sid.
I’d like to think he wouldn’t have taken the move to the big club mentioned in the article. One of many reasons he is so loved is he never took that route in the way Jack, Platt, Yorke, did!
He’s our player and hero!
Withe Villa you’re Shaw to score!
-
He was a regular figure around Harborne and i once made the mistake of approaching him in the pub for a word - my mind went totally blank and i remember telling him he was my hero and after that a load of utter crap he graciously acknowledged without falliing about laughing. I woke up the following morning thinking "Well you fucked that up!"
One of our own until the end. We love ya buddy.

Beautiful tribute Dave.
