Just announced on prAVda:
Aston Villa can confirm that disabled supporters who have booked matchday parking at Villa Park for the 2024/25 season will be charged last season’s parking rates.
Those supporters will be contacted directly by the clubs’s ticket office via telephone prior to the next match at Villa Park against Everton and for those who were overcharged for parking for the Arsenal match, the club will issue reimbursements.
The club wishes to apologise to those affected.
They've come to their senses - just need to keep going.
-
Glad they have apologised. Leaves a sour taste in mouth but first step of repairing fractions is by acknowledgement
I still dont get how they thoyght a 100% increase wouls not upset the fan base.? Some idiotic ideology

Someone with commonsense/clout/leverage has obviously had a word.
Wonder if Heck has had his wings clipped?

Plucked and basted hopefully..

Whilst this change is welcome, the actions of the club regarding its treatment of its supporters is indicative of an organisation that has lost its moral compass.
Contrast this with the leadership and strategy of the playing side of the club and you can see the total lack of leadership and competence.
-
A forced apology is no apology at all.
-
This is quite bizarre and very much like 'leaked' proposed policies in politics. Can we get away with it? What's the backlash like? Oh, sorry we really didn't mean it.
It's one fuck up after another. They seem really detached from reality
-
The cynic in me suggests this distracts nicely from the Champions League prices and that backing down so quickly is an attempt to show humility and compassion.
-
Chris Heck: "yeah well at least the little handicapped fella is able-minded. Unless he's not, it's difficult to tell with the wheelchair ones. So let's charge them more."
-
Should read..."the club wishes to apologise for getting caught."
Heck is turning out to be a real low-life.

My experience of ‘Change Managers’ ( which I believe Heck is) is that they are unpopular, communicate badly, make decisions quickly without accountability, are focused and driven with normally one objective which is paramount. They are normally cold and dogmatic, have no sense of loyalty or history and adopt the ‘step up or step out’ style of people management. He has been appointed to make AVFC profitable, sustainable, competitive and known. I fear what we are witnessing now is just the tip of an iceberg.
-
I fear you're correct Virgil. I've worked with enough "management consultents" and "change enablers" I think was their last self found, self important, hubris infused, description when I was in the UK to recognise the type.
I wouldn't say ****** to a man but it's pretty close.

I hear what you are saying Virgil - we are the same age and have probably seen more than enough of these "individuals" during our working lives - They just don`t give a "flying ****"
It ain`t the game I have loved and supported since 1961 - Its just a business :(

Could one of our high profile supporters / fan groups set up a funding page and let's all chip in and cover the costs of our disabled fans parking. Let's shame the club
-
Well I would have contributed to that but I’m still saving for my Bayern ticket.
-
This was taking too far to overprice and it's suitable to recognise the error though seems club made to think and act to stop critics rather they think themselves that they are pricing out. Where's the thought to inclusivity.
What is going on at the club ? Are they that desperate to drain any loyal supporter they can?
-
It’s a good thing that the club have retracted the price rise but who thought this was a good idea in the first place?
I’m appalled that anyone could even think about hitting disabled supporters this way. The most vulnerable people in our fan base and society and they really shouldn’t have to pay anything for a space.
-
Exactly, it speaks volumes when the supporters have to step in to be the moral compass for the club. Heck is all about the relentless pursuit of money and doesn't care who he screws to reach his goals.

Nothing more inclusive than ripping everyone off
-
Well yes, but it would have got very interesting how they'd have responded to being accused of going against/?breaching their their own safeguarding principles/standards if they hadn't backtracked within 7 hours of the John Townley article.
Credit to him not protecting his relationship with the Villa, not the club.
-
Didnt these price increases come in before the Arsenal game?
