Saturday 6 April Kick off 3:00PM
Villa Park.
Well we need to quickly move on from the pathetic display tonight and look forward to the next game. I hope any of our players affected by the sickness bug will recover in time and those rested tonight will not feel under too much pressure to perform on Saturday.
-
3-1 home win with Toney scoring for them, and Rogers to get one for us.
-
Spicy game with plenty of ill feeling going into this one. Mee Maupay and Toney all horrid chunts. Hope we are fired up for this.
-
Let's hope Ollie's back. He makes such a difference to us defensively as well, as it keeps the opponents' line just that bit more hesitant to step up, and he presses so well.
If he is back (and Martinez!) I suspect the team is:
Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Pau, Digne; Bailey, McGinn, Luiz, Tielemans; Diaby, Watkins.
-
I expect us to lose a couple of players to training ground injuries and a couple more to alien abductions.
We'll still win 3-1.
-
Even without Ollie, Duran will cause problems.
A win.

Think Mee is injured.
-
FTF
And also, I hope Brentford get relegated. Weird fan base.

Take it easy
I hope nothing nasty and thy get well soon.

Brentford said a month ago that Mee is out for the season. Which is nice.

Martinez

McGinn
JJ
Tielemans
Watkins

There's no way Ramsey will be playing.

Is Cash anywhere near returning?
-
Is Cash anywhere near returning?
The initial prognosis was 2-3 weeks, so no.
-
Pau and Tielemans will obviously start otherwise it was illogical to rest them tonight. Not sure if Moreno will come back in though as extra height of Digne at the back post will be needed against these guys I think at set pieces.
Would be a little disappointed if Diaby is taken out, this is a game where we need to get up the pitch quickly to unsettle them so him on one side and Bailey on the other please.
The scrappiest 1-0 win you ever did see I think.
-
Maupay to start with the sole intention of getting Luiz his yellow card.
-
Martinez
Konsa
Carlos
Torres
Digne
Bailey
Dougie
McGinn
JJ
Tielemans
Watkins
There's no way Ramsey will be playing.
If not, then Rogers.
-
Rogers deserves to keep his place, I thought he was our best player tonight.
-
Need to win, and ideally handily.
-
Rogers deserves to keep his place, I thought he was our best player tonight.
He’s gonna be a star.
-
One of the dirtiest teams in the League, hope we twat them.
-
Rogers deserves to keep his place, I thought he was our best player tonight.
He’s gonna be a star.
He is more, too much more....
-
Sir John back and he owes us, and his team mates, big time. Regulation 2-0 win after a worrying first 30 mins....
-
The manager's selection at Stockport (looks like the bug was confined to the keeper) will inevitably put pressure on him but I think he thrives on that, and of course will stand or fall by his decisions.
Brentford Nylons have turned into a battling side so the return of SJM is most timely. It was always going to be a big game, the last one was more or less a hiding to nothing so that's not really changed, even a draw up north would still have us all branding this a "must win". It's still not the end of the world if we don't win. But we should and we will.
3-0
-
I expect a much stronger test.
Mcginns back which is huge and im sure pau youri and bailey will be starting this. We shouldn't be hearing any excuses about tiredness after they were rested last night
-

If he is back (and Martinez!) I suspect the team is:
Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Pau, Digne; Bailey, McGinn, Luiz, Tielemans; Diaby, Watkins.
If Watkins is back, I like this team, although an argument for Rogers instead of Diaby perhaps.
4-1, Watkins (2), Bailey, McGinn to open proceedings up.
-
Need to win, and ideally handily.
You always say that, don't ask for much Paul!
I'd happily take a 1-0. It's my first VP game since Arsenal in December and a long trip up from the south coast so they'd better win.
-
The form of Rogers is why I'm relaxed on Ramsey. Big guns to come back and we need to win and win well. 3-0 Villa.
-
The weather forecast for Saturday afternoon is pretty rotten, rain and winds of over 45mph. Don't know whose style of play that should suit the more, as a short passing game and keeping the ball on the ground should be the best method to employ in such conditions but one never knows.
-
Citeh had a reaction to the Arsenal game and I expect us to do the same. We need to show some character.
-
A must win game. I agree with the Roger’s stuff above, he looks like he could be sensational in the future.
-
Rogers has got that little dinked through ball in his locker hasn't he? I noticed it a few times on his Youtube reel and it was put to good use last night.
-

He's also got the 30 yard inch perfect defence splitter as well, which is nice. I'm going to enjoy watching him mature in the years to come, he's got loads of ability.
-
Me too mate, him and big Jhon.
I can see us evolving over the next couple of seasons into a team full of 6ft plus skillful bastards that yomp all over teams, and I'm all for it.
-
Yeah i have to say rodgers seems to be getting better by game. He could turn into a absolute bargain
-

I've said it before, but Duran seems to realise that charging everywhere like a 12 year old on Sunny D is only going to get him so far, and now that he's channeling that strength and physicality, he looks a much better player. He only has to look at Watkins to see the benefit of timing runs and playing more centrally. Ollie used to try to do too much (albeit in a different way) and he too looks a better player from Emery's instructions.
-
0-2

Reverse psychology. Like it.

Leeg always predicts a loss going back many a year. I suspect most miss it.
-
Martinez
Konsa Carlos Torres Digne
McGinn Luiz
Bailey Tielemans Zaniolo
Watkins
I suspect he'll start Rogers though.

I think he will have learned so much last night from the duels he had (and mostly lost, let's be honest) with Gvardiol and Dias and what it takes in terms of physicality, technique and discipline to take-on the best in the world.

Ben Mee can go & fuck himself.
After what he did to Wesleys career, I hope that c**t never recovers...
-
Brentford have won once and lost 9 times in their last ten away games. I think we should be expecting to beat them comfortably.

I guess we all need a 'thing'

Let’s face it if we can’t then the chances are we’re going to fall away. This is a game we need to win.
-
3-1. With Olsen in goal.
-
Risso, you’re right in what you said except for never had a win in x number of away matches, your striker can’t hit a barn door…ladies and gentlemen..we give you Aston Villa!!!
Hopefully I’m wrong.
-
They're currently on a run of W2 D3 L12. They have improved a bit recently but I expect us have a fairly comfortable 3 points.
-
Bout time we spanked some fuckers at home. Step forward poxy, nothing club Brentford.
Aston Villa 5-0 The Bees.
-
Even though they've been poor away from home, they're tricky customers and I expect a really hard match.
Us by a single goal.
-
I expect a tough hour or so but they'll buckle under our pressure. 3-1 Villa, Duran again on the scoresheet.
-
Back on track with a win. Looking forward to it.
-
McGinn owes us a big game . Luiz needs to eliminate silly fouls near our box . Hope Martinez and Watkins make it .
-
We"ll be fired up for this one & start quickly. Hopefully like the game after Gerrard was sacked it'll be settled after 30 mins.
We need to make sure we don't get drawn into a battle, as that will suit them.
No booking for Luiz, this is the last game where it'll lead to a 2 game ban.
-
I'm going for a 2-1 Villa win.
-
Upper tier away end is on sale to Villa.
-
2-0 Villa, Duran getting both goals either side of half time with the inevitable news headline.
-
No team has won more games by half time than Villa so I think we be leading at 1-0
Brentford are going to be difficult. They'll look to park the bus and make it tricky.
I can see in end a hard fought 2-0 win solid if not spectacular
-
Toney (AKA Big Dog, as he calls himself) will be a tough test for our centre halves.
But if we want to finish in 4th we need to win this game - 3-1
-
Big lift for us with Martinez, Watkins, McGinn, Tielemans and Torres back into the starting eleven.
-
Toney (AKA Big Dog, as he calls himself) will be a tough test for our centre halves.
But if we want to finish in 4th we need to win this game - 3-1
Toney hasn't scored for 7 games. Who's up next I wonder?!
-
He'll make that shitty Zulu sign to the Holte again, his agent is Blose isn't he?

Yep that’s inevitable. Between Toney, Mbuemo, and Wissa they have some really good forwards. Hopefully we’ll just score 5+
-
Upper tier away end is on sale to Villa.
I've often wondered, when away teams don't take the full allocation, why we don't give them the upper tier and have Villa in the lower? Have Villa fans all the way around the ground by the pitch.

Segregation innit?
-
hopefully a clean sheet and a Villa win...Rogers to get his first goal for the Villa.
UTV
Doc

I had a quick look at those yesterday. There was only a handful left.
-
Isn't there going to be some sort of Brigada/B6/Ultra wannabes supposedly occupying some of this area?
-
I see the new group have met the club and have been offered P9 for the Bournemouth game as a trial (as Bournemouth haven't taken their full allocation.)
Bournemouth aren't the noisiest fans, but even so putting 50-100 enthusiastic fans right next to the away supporters seems like setting them up to fail to me.
I wish them luck though and anyone who wants to join them can get details here

-
Good luck to them and everything but organised 'support' as such is an anathema to me.
-
Having played one more game than Spurs and Manure, this is must win for us. These games make me nervous. Hope we can put them away early and not be left with a buttock clenching last ten mins.
-
407-0
-
i can forgive everything about the Man city game - team selection, individual performances, mistakes, result - IF we beat this lot on Saturday.
-
Good luck to them and everything but organised 'support' as such is an anathema to me.
Same here, that break in play when everyone started signing about the Rags last week, with Doug conducting from the pitch was great because it just came from nowhere and spread around the ground.
I like the banners and flags mind.
-
Can anyone confirm if this is a free hit for Brentford and, is so, will they play an under strength team?
-
407-0
It's Brentford at home, not Australia batting in the Ashes.
-
Got to hope Emi and Ollie are ok.
-
Big lift for us with Martinez, Watkins, McGinn, Tielemans and Torres back into the starting eleven.
Yeah, if it happens.
-

That's for the Bournemouth game, not Brentford. But up to 100 people above the away fans? I'm not holding my breath.
-
3-0 to us, hopefully all the sickies are back so we can be as close to full strength as possible.
-

“Jacob Ramsey is again with some problems in his toe, he is not going to be available for the rest of the season.
“Emi Martínez and Ollie Watkins could be (available) tomorrow, we will prepare for the match in the final 24 hours and tomorrow we will know if they’re available and ready to play.
“Emi and Ollie are included in the squad for tomorrow.”

407-0

OK, I think it'll be 9-7. (England batting in the Ashes.)
-
Great news. jj news is a blow but we havent had him virtually all season so doesnt really make much difference
-
Good luck to them and everything but organised 'support' as such is an anathema to me.
It's a try worth doing.....must be better than having periods of silence during a game. Most prem grounds suffer with lack of atmosphere these days, especially Man City.

Nope, give me the silence every time over flag waving and organised stuff
-
We've had an interloper in the LTR for a few games, who doesn't realise that he's in the 'sarcasm and bad puns section' and occasionally joins in with a chant.
Fair enough, be he only shouts a few words and tends to get them wrong :)

Yep, give them any encouragement and before you know it you're Crystal Palace.
And nobody, I repeat nobody wants that.
-
Many years ago when grounds were being converted to all -seaters it was often very difficult to get tickets as an away supporter. At Goodison we were in amongst Everton fans and the one I was next to would probably have been hard put to breath if not constantly reminded. They started their chant in which the word Everton was sung eleven times in succession. Halfway through he forgot the words.

i think i know that one.
-
was it Brigada who bought those arrow signs pointing to the goal at a Lambert game . That was their career highlight.
-
Predictions:
Sutton and Lawereson 2-1
Savage 1-1
-
Comfortable 4-0 win. Goals for Rogers, Luis, Bailey and Diary. Maupay sent off after 30 mins. Spurs lose as do Man Utd and all is good in the world.
-
McGinn needs to have a game and then some…..he owes us that.

It’s like a breath of fresh air…
-

He doesn't 'owe' us anything. He has more than repaid the £2m we paid for him. He is a legend already for what he has done for this club. Even before he lifts the euro conference league trophy

If anyone is looking for a ticket for the game (single, Upper Holte), please drop me a PM. Trains coming up from the south coast this morning are cancelled/delayed so I will miss my connection to Brum at London Euston.

We might have beaten West Ham, if he'd been there. Other than that...

Yes, I did forget him. I put him in instead of Diaby then. We have some competition for places even all the injuries.

I think that will be it with Diaby held in reserve.

I just hope our players dont get dragged into silly tactics like earlier this year. You know brentford are going to try wind us up to get a red. Dont fall for this crap.
Let the football do the talking

Thank god for that.
Shame we have to play Konsa at right back, but needs must and all that.
-
That's more like it. That's our best team with the current injuries.

Yup.
-
Side as expected. Shame Diaby has dropped to the bench but stronger midfield.
-
Toneys been dropped. Bizarre
