Good work.

Good stuff.
I was in the Bartons prior to the home game and was chatting with a load of them. They were the older generation, down to earth and good fun like the Citeh fans I remember when they were shit.
I guess what I am trying to say it is possible to support a successful club without turning into a complete xxxxxx. Sadly lots of them have not managed it, but I do wonder how much is down to generational perspective.
If we ever did become that successfull we will be rubbing shoulders in our new mega stadium with lots of plastics and day trippers.

Can safely say that were we ever bought by some oil-bumpkin dictatorship I wouldn't any longer be a Villa fan. Or rather, I'd continue to be a fan of Aston Villa, a club that used to be, that would be no longer.

That last sentence is spot on.
-
Agreed. I’d rather do what we are doing than take the oil money.

Great read Dave.

Great read Dave and pretty much spot on.
I went to the end of season 3-2 defeat under Gerrard and being totally bemused as to why City fans were leaving just after they got their third goal.
Right at the very end of full time there were still people going home.
Just shows how meaningless and false it all is to some.

If we got taken over by an oil baron I’d feel incredibly sad about it. Until we started winning trophies then I’d feel less sad.

Done.

Great read Dave.
Thanks Daz.

Logic and experience dictates that there should only be one winner but if that doesn’t happen it will mean more to us than any number of trophies they might end up with this season.
This. Mentioned it before but watching us get promoted in a bar over here and when I asked a fella who he supported he said "City", my immediate thought apart from which 'City' was now little time it took their fans to become clones of their neighbours.
To quote the late Arthur Ashe, “Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.” Don't know about you but I'm loving our journey and everybody connected with it.
