Of course he is, he's from Lisbon. ;)

I think he now completes the set of every West Brom academy player who played for them since time began. Talk about a stepping stone club.

Presumably one more likely to be involved in the u21's for now than the first team.

This one does sound interesting

From that there Twatter

"Wtf! Are we @Arsenal doing letting Lino go?! Like seriously?! The kid is one of our best academy talents ffs! This screams Omari Hutchinson level of mistake.

Villa (#avfc) picking up a very talented FB here for sure and a unit of a player.

He's a tall, ball carrying, athletic FB very comfortable on the ball and very good eye for a pass.

When Zinchenko & Timber were both out most Arsenal fans expected he'd see gametime but it looks like Arteta didn't trust him and I'd suspect that's cos we we've been in and around the top of the league."

Might depend on how long Digne is out for. We're basically working with one RB and one LB at the moment, and neither of them are in spectacular form.

I'm very surprised Arsenal were willing to part with him - great for us. This is exactly the type of signing we need.

Sousa on the left, KKH/Nedeljkovic on the right - future's bright!

Looking at an Arsenal forum they seem pretty surprised they're letting him go.

Quote
Nice one Edu, let one of our most promising younger go to Villa

Quote
Sousa is talented to be fair. Proper modern full back but with good athleticism. Expect him to debut within the next 6-12 months and we'll hear gooners crying on twitter for weeks when it happens.

Quote
Bit odd this one. Can't work out why we are selling him when we have nothing in that position elsewhere in the youth set up. I guess this means Villa think the very highly Ben Chrisene hasn't recovered from the bad knee injury he got. Villa have 2 very good left backs but both are 30, and if Chrisene is finished they have no others over the age of 17.

But unless its a contract issue or the player is homesick to return to the midlands, I'm not sure what the thinking is here.

Never heard of him, personally.

Shocked to see we’re selling Lino Sousa to Aston Villa. He’s considered one of the best players at the academy and has already made our bench quite a few times. If we aren’t receiving a decent fee and a hefty sell-on clause this feels like it could be a mistake…

According to some site called 'arseblog', the kids contract expires in the summer, so if he costs us anything, it will be a nominal fee...

And 'football insider' (I know, I know) reckon that he is going straight back out on loan to Plymouth Argyle...

We seem to have a good relationship with Plymouth, even though we might have annoyed them this window. It seems like we trust them with our young players and they get game time and develop well while there.

Feels a bit anticlimactic that we may sign 4 players this window but we've only maybe added 1 player to the squad for the rest of the season.

Are we allowed to have an 'instant recall' in a loan deal?

He wouldn't be registered with us, so even if he came back (like some injured players do) it would be too late to register him.

Lino...a left back who joined Arsenal from WBA academy. He featured in the WBA team Villa beat in the FAYC semi a few years ago, despite being an u16.
He's a great kid with a really good attitude, WBA were gutted to let him go, but Arsenal offered too much compo.
Athletic & quick, can play left wingback or fullback. Was in and around England as a schoolboy.

Yea, I would say that our relationship with Plymouth has born fruit for all parties involved.

It's a nice little club, a reasonably nice area with little chance of getting into trouble (a beautiful area if you're prepared to travel a bit).

I am delighted that we are signing players for the future, especially with high potential, for reasonable prices, not just for FFP/PSR reasons, but because I love to see young players develop at Villa.

Would have been nice to get in another first teamer, but it is what it is & all clubs appear to be suffering from the same issue.

I do wonder if this is what will bring prices back down to earth. Relatively speaking, of course...

Confirmed by Plymouth.

I am pleased about this.

Argyle were pretty covered at RB when Kesler-Hayden was there & he sometimes found himself at LB.

So after recalling Kesler-Hayden, its good to help with the relationship we have with Plymouth by sending them this kid.

Arsenal fans seem pretty gutted that they are losing him.

Argyle seem pretty excited about getting him.

He should be getting the number 3 jersey at Argyle.

Went down a rabbit hole of arsenal chat rooms when he joined and they were gutted he’d left and rated him higher than we probably do.

Considering where they are I thought he’d be a star, given enough time.

It’s low risk, whoever is right.
