Good start to the year for Tommy Fleetwood winning The Dubai Invitational from Rory and a South African, by one shot, hopefully this year, he will be in contention for at least one of the majors.
-
Rory wins the Dubai Desert Classic, but the performance of the weekend without doubt goes to 19 year old American Nick Dunlap, becoming the first amateur to win on the PGA tour since Mickelson in 1991.
-
Loved seeing Dunlap win that, anything that gets rid of any stat of that Uber t**t Mickelson is good by me
-
The Players starts today, favourite Scottie Scheffler is in good form following winning Arnie's tournament last week, Rory not so good, since his win at the Dubai Desert Classic in January. Hovland seems the best bet for an European win.
-
Fantastic finish with Harman, Schauffele, Clark and Scheffler all in contention, how Clark's final putt, to take it to a playoff, didn't go in I'll never know, but full credit to Scheffler winning with a superb final round 64.
-
Looking forward to the Masters tomorrow 🙌
-
Love the Masters , marks the end of Winter for me mentally .
-
Will Rory finally do it?
(Probably not)
-
I've never really been a fan of The Masters, especially it's classification as a major, its a by invitation contest rather than a true open contest. It's also incredibly fake as a course, there's no doubting it's beauty on screen it would seem but in reality the mud is painted green, brown patches of grass are painted green, deadfall in the wooded area is collected and stacked daily, it's the golfing equivalent of Katie Price. Give me a windy, rainy day on St Endoc or Saunton any day.
-
Weather not looking great for today, strong winds and thunderstorms forecast, the good news it's looking ok for the rest of the tournament.
Defending champion is a LIV golfer, Jon Rahm, so hoping he doesn't retain his title. Not surprisingly Scottie Scheffler is the strong favourite odds are 4/1 with Rahm and Rory at 10s. Rory looking to complete his own grand slam, sadly not confident that's gonna happen. Will be interesting to see how Ludvig Aberg does in his first Masters.
-
I’ve gone Fleetwood to win (perhaps heart over head) & Homa to place on top 8
Hopefully none of the LIV guys get anywhere near it…particularly Mickelson
-
20 years ago today, Phil Mickelson won his first major at the Masters.

Boo for LIV Phil!
-
Rory off to a fine start, Tiger not too bad either. But go'on Danny Willett!
-
Great effort from Tiger making a record 24 consecutive cuts is some achievement, pity about Danny Willett finishing with a 7 on the 18th, otherwise, considering he hasn't played for 6 months, that's a very good first 2 rounds.
-
Scheffler, Morikawa, Homa, Aberg and DeChambeau all in contention hopefully it's gonna be a cracking finish.
-
Spoiler: it wasn't.
-
Not the finishing I was hoping for Scheffler was just too good, superb performance from Aberg playing his first major, looks likely to be a big star in the future, also great effort from Tommy Fleetwood, finishing joint 3rd.
-
Nelly Korda equalled a LPGA record by winning her 5th tournament in a row, when she won the first women's major of the year yesterday, that is very impressive.
-
Very impressive from Rory, despite a double bogey at the last, wins The Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina by 5 shots, hopefully he will carry this form into the PGA, which starts on Thursday.
-
A sensational round of 62 from Xander Schauffle, 9 birdies no bogeys, equals the best round ever in the history of majors. Rory also had a good round with a 66.
-
Being in the slammer didn't affect Scottie too much.
-
Got to confess that when I heard that World's No 1 Scottie Scheffler had been arrested, I thought it was a jokey article about an obscure sport called Scottie Scheffling...
-

Equalled 2 days later by Lowry, and he almost had a round of 61. Hon the BIFFO!
-
Yeah brilliant from Lowry, 15 players, which includes Rose and MacIntyre, all within 5 shots of the lead, has the makings of being a great final day.
-
Well done Xander superb performance.
-
A lot of big names missing the cut in the Women's US Open, Nellie Korda. Leona Maguire, Georgia Hall, Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko and Lexi Thompson all going home.
-
Well done Robert MacIntyre first win on the PGA tour.
-
After watching rugby, cricket, tennis, and F1, finished the weekend watching Scheffler, despite scoring a 2 over par 74, win The Memorial by 1 shot from Morikawa, also good to see Matt Fitzpatrick finishing joint 5th, hopefully he will take that form into the US Open starting on Thursday.
-
As he prepares for the US Open, Rory has been appearing on the front pages as well as the back pages, following his reconciliation with his wife, hopefully this will improve his chances of at last winning another major.
It's at Pinehurst, North Carolina this year, the players are not happy with how fast the greens are, so you're not gonna be seeing low scores, as they're were in the PGA.
Scheffler's odds are as low as 3/1, then Schauffle 10, Rory 11, Morikawa 14, Hovland 16, De Chambeau and Aberg 20.

Excellent, make it tough not just target golf like the PGA was…so long as it doesn’t go too the other way and is won at +10….4 or 5 players on Sunday under par is perfect

Yeah agree
-
Great start from Rory, bogey-free round and joint leader with Cantlay on 5 under.

Great start from Rory, bogey-free round and joint leader with Cantlay on 5 under.
Getting back with his wife might have helped take the pressure off.
-

I had both him and Scheffler to go bogey free for 250/1 but the criminal let me down. I was hoping to challenge Goldie with my Bugatti.
-
Would love to see Rory win, but it's hard to see beyond DeChambeau, even when he had a double bogey at 16, he immediately came back with a birdie.
-
C'mon Rory, 1 shot ahead with 3 to play. 🙏🏻
-
FFS, misses a short putt on the 16th.
-
Rory making a bollox of it.
-
Oh Rory, missing a tiddler now on the last. Hopefully Rochambeau hits a double bogey.
-
Sadly true on this occasion. “Golf is a game that is played on a five-inch course - the distance between your ears.”
-
Huge Rory fan but cannot defend how he's bottled that
-
Made even worse by the fact that DeChambeau is such a wanker. A LIV wanker at that.
-
Thats going to stay in Rorys head forever.
What an opportunity.
-
Made even worse by the fact that DeChambeau is such a wanker. A LIV wanker at that.
Even his name screams 'twat'!
-
Fairplay to DeChambeau that was a superb bunker shot, but today will take some getting over for Rory.
-
He's quite disliked in general, isn't he? DeChambeau, that is. I remember reading a few years ago that people found him quite petulant, but I'm not a big enough golf fan to really get into the nitty gritty. I only take notice of the majors, predominantly to bet and make around £3.50 across the 4.
-
Blooming heck Rory :'(
-
I see Mark Darbon has been appointed the new CEO of the R&A, taking over from Martin Slumbers, hopefully Darbon won't be caught sleeping on the job.
-
Robert MacIntyre -18 wins the Scottish Open beating Adam Scott (Aus) by one shot
-
After the huge disappointment on Sunday, can't wait for The Open, venue Troon, one of my favourite courses. The big question is can Rory bounce back from his massive meltdown in the US Open, hope I'm wrong, but I can't see it. Nevertheless the bookies have got him 2nd favourite at 9s, Scheffler favourite at 6s, then Schauffele 12, Aberg 14 surprise, DeChambeau and Morikawa 16, Fleetwood top Englishman at 20.
As well as last weeks winner Robert MacIntyre, worth looking out for 2 local lads, Lichfield's Richard Mansell, who qualified, following a final round of 61 at The Scottish Open, and the player, who is the form of his life, in his 4 last tournaments finished in the top 10, Wolverhampton's Aaron Rai. Having said that not sure how much, links golf either of them have played, they could easily miss the cut.
-
As ever for me it’s anyone but Mickelson!
A lot depends on the weather…needs a couple of days of high wind or rain to get it to be fun
-
Superb from Lowry.
-
Superb from Lowry.
Yes, very good start fro. Shane. Hon the BIFFO!
-
Awful day for Rory . He needs a huge push tomorrow.
-
Another solid round for Lowry, not happening at all for Rory.
-
Rory just looks like he wants to get home asap
-
So the day ends with Lowry leading by 2 from Rose and Brown and the 2 local lads Mansell and Rai made the cut, all good stuff. As for Rory, he finishes 18 shots behind Shane, trying to look on the bright side, that's probably better that him missing a 3 foot putt to win the Open, not sure if he would ever recover from that!
-
I wouldn't mind any of the current top 3 winning it, but obviously hoping it's Lowry.
-
Hope Rose wins, think Scheffeler probably will.
-
Shocking weather today
-
Some brilliant golf today despite the conditions. All to play for tomorrow.
-
Well done Xander, 65 to win The Open, is brilliant, but also gutted for Justin.
-
Well done Schauffle , could not have happened to a nicer guy. Superb golf.
-
Following his recent good form in America, Wolverhampton's Aaron Rai has won his first PGA Tour title.
-
Well done to New Zealand's Lydia Ko on winning the Women's Open at the home of golf.
-
USA 6 Europe 2 :(
-
USA 10-6 up, not quite impossible, but mission highly improbable.
-
First match in the singles Nelly Korda v Charley Hull, could be a cracker, as expected Europe starting with the strongest players.
-
Much better in the singles, even had the Americans worried, but all the damage was done in day 1.
-
Good to see an emotional Rory finishing the year on a high, winning the DP World Tour Championship, but sadly his year will only be remembered for his US Open meltdown.
