Did one single person think Torres was going to actually make it once described as 'touch and go'? He'll probably be back around mid Feb.

That's what I'd have picked. Need Ramsey to get back to what he's capable of, and also Bailey to keep his improved away form going. Nice to be able to bring on the likes of Diaby later on.

We really should be able to get at that defence, there is very little defensive cover in front of it either.

Big ask for Ramsay and Dendonkar. I wish we had Buendia - can't help but feel he'd find Bailey really well, but! It's a good looking team and we should be competitive. Come on Villa.

Dendoncker is a decoy. Earlier I thought if he plays he'll be swarmed over by red shirts. But then I thought, maybe that's the plan. He's a decoy. A honeytrap for their midfield. Ball in to him, back out like a flash, and we're at them.

He did really well when he came on against Man City or Arsenal, can't remember which, I think he'll be alright. Probably wants to bag himself a big money move next week, so he'll play like he deserves it.

He's a decent passer of the ball, and can get stuck in, which is all we need from him today. Shield the defence, pass the ball to somebody better, job done. And if he could leave one on Ratboy without getting sent off, even better.

Having a 2-0 lead against these ****** is not a fun experience, strangely enough.

I'd like to get to half-time at 2-0. Get a third after 52mins to ease the nerves, then a gentle procession to the final whistle with a very late fourth for one of the subs.

Zaniolo >>
Ramsey <<

What the fuck is wrong with McCoist "he looks slightly offside" it's was 2-3 yards and he'd been wandering around behind our defence for a few seconds by the time the ball was played. The biggest surprise was that the lino didn't flag.

Just to go back a little but worth pointing out that we've lost our starting left back to injury because the c**t didn't flag earlier. I've not liked the 'leave to VAR' approach all season for this exact reason. For genuinely tight calls then fine leave the flag down but when there's clear daylight it's just stupid.

We have absolutely played into Man Utd's hands second half. Just stood off them and allowed them to play. Ridiculous.

They hadn't scored for 700 minutes yet have looked like scoring every 30 seconds this half.

Why is Ramsey still on the pitch? Doug looks like he's on a beach in Rio and Olly hasn't held one ball up all game.

Totally avoidable nonsense.

Why can we just never quite do it at this ground?

We were 2-0 up and the crowd were on their backs. ETH was going to be fired in the morning.

We have successfully made an indifferent team look ok. Mainly through our own making. Pathetic today. Simply pathetic.

On the plus side, this might dissuade Yanited and their cheerleaders in the media from fawning over Emery.

Give ETH more time to sort it out.

That's just what they need.  They can't play us every week.

They need a fucking rocket up them.
We are so fucking casual…..it’s leeching into every aspect of our play.
The determination to play out from the back, constantly, under ALL circumstances is what is fucking us over
Agreed

Also agree with this. Nearly every game I wince at the back four overplaying the ball out from the back and we often get away with it.

Usually Unai has an answer but we’ve just sat back and casually let the inevitable happen again. The Amazon commentators can absolutely go —— themselves.

Our away form has been mostly shit. If it wasn’t for two red cards we’d probably be on two away wins now.

I know you like to be grumpy on the match threads but this is a new low, willing away games we've already won so you can moan a bit more, get a fucking grip.

He's got a point, only a couple of the away performances have been anything like as convincing as our home displays.

no he hasn't we won the games, it's very rare that top teams deserve to win every game, part of getting to the level we want to be is the ability to win games when you haven't quite been at it. Until today our away record has been good enough to have us in the top 3. Lets not rewrite history to pretend we're shit because we've had a bad hour.

Playing the ball out from the back is how we play. Over a long period there has been more reward to justify the risk. Can't really do much about a muppet who plays a pass to one of their attackers under no pressure.

Short of giving him about 10 hours of video analaysis and not pickiing him for a while.

They clearly weren't up for it as the atmosphere in the crowd and the body language of their players suggested in the first half.

But if you keep on presenting the ball to the most shot-shy side in the league even they will eventually take their chances.
