Still have Bailey, Duran and Zaniola on the bench, but yes we have had quite the luxury in reserve this season.

Sam Proctor, 16 year old goal keeper. Turns 17 on Thursday. That's the second kid Emery has given a little birthday present to this week. Have to assume he's there to make up the numbers but still a good experience for him.

Goes to show we do still need a few new signings because there's at least 3 players on that bench that you wouldn't want to see coming on today. (Although 2 of them are goalkeepers, to be fair)

Digne, Tielemans, and Dougie being there would obviously change that too, but some reinforcements in January might be more necessary than I thought.

This is on Canal+ Sport 360 in France. I'm hoping MyCanal lets me watch it on telly (we have a C+ Ciné-Series subscription, not the sports one)

Otherwise I will have to find alternative soccer stream links on a dot com site. I must use my VPN though.

Cash is, has been for a while.

We've done quite well with cards given how many were on 4 for a while. Dougie, Digne, Kamara and Cash were all on 4 for a while. We could have had half the team on a suspension at the same time.

Typical away performance so far, Moreno, Ramsey and Diaby well off the pace. Cash offering nothing at all out wide.

It's just a bit too predictable.  The one thing this team lacks is the ability to consistently break teams down who sit and defend deep.

Cash as a conventional full back is absolutely fine. As a wing back he’s ok. In his duties further forward, he’s just not an effective right sided midfielder at this level.

It's a poor Brentford side as well

Thomas Frank tactic was always going to low block us to death and play quick through balls for Wissa to run onto and get shots away. Then score from a set piece if possible.

Worked to perfection this half.

Second half we're really going to have to gamble a bit, I'd get Bailey on and also Duran just to give their physical CBs something to think about.

This is real opportunity missed if we lose this, worse defeat than at Forest imo as we're not being ruthless and letting Spurs and Newcastle get close to us again.

I'd just move Cash back to RB personally. Get Konsa back central as he'll defend better one on one against Wissa than Carlos has done.

Not sure you can hook Moreno with Digne not available today. Might mean an experiment with McGinn at LB but not sure that will happen with our lack of CM options.

Really the biggest blow with Luiz out is we needed Tielemans available so in hindsight he should've been rested for the europe match. We don't really have a defence splitting pass in us which is badly needed v their low block.

Would be getting Bailey and Duran on quite quickly in second half although Zaniolo could be first in line.

Tielemans was already injured and didn’t play in Europe

Ah my mistake, hopefully the injury isn't too bad and he's available for xmas. We will need him at Old Trafford.

He was feeling a little stiff after the Arsenal game

Games like this are a good illustration of why it's now important for us to sign players who are good enough technically to play in tighter spaces for dominant teams against massed defences.

Not for us now the player from a mid table side who always looks good charging into space on there break against better opponents.
